same thing said window authorized dealer then remoted into computer and then got weird to say that no warranty and wanted me to enter own information non-verbally and that he didn't need to know it or would lose his job. Then he made a comment about me missing a field....interesting since he wasn't supposed to see my information? Hung up and stopped the sharing and called Microsoft...they don't operate this way and are looking into it...

My turn today. Radar went off right away - hung up when he pointed out Errors in the Application log - they happen all the time and are not necessarily a valid indication of a problem. Hung up mid-way - two immediate call backs since I'd played along for a little while and they probably figured they had a fish on the line. Now a third call. Went to answering machine twice but no messages left. What a bother. Quite insistent!

Received a call from 276-594-4205 . Fellow said he was with microsoft windows and my computer had been sending messages and they knew it was being attached by a trojan virus. Wanted me to go onto a site called teamviewer. When I got there he wanted to numbers showing up on my computer screen that would allow him to access my computer...I told him that I wanted to get my IT guy involved. He said 'is this a business.' . When I told him yes he hung up on me..I do not believe this guy is honest and filed a report with my local police.

Area code 276 is in Virginia, not India. Although it seems these scammers virtually *always* have East Indian accents, but are calling from US based cell phones. (What does that say about immigration?) He was trying the usual scam of "we're Microsoft, and we're getting error reports from your computer."
I asked him how he got my phone number.
He said something about my router sending in error reports.
"But those error reports don't contain my phone number, so how did you get it?"
"We traced your IP address to get your phone number, sir"
"So my ISP gave you my phone number?!" I asked.
"Yes sir, that's correct"
"That's illegal!"
So he says "Sir, we had to do that to support our customers."
"It's your company policy to break federal laws?!"
"We have no other way to support our customers, sir".
I told him I was onto his scam, to f*ck off and hung up, but his unlisted number is a cell phone in Virginia. Interestingly, when I called back from a different number, he just answered with "Hello". When I asked if it was Microsoft, "Oh, yes sir. This is Microsoft!" . . . . . .
Maybe I should try 3rd party billing of some long distance calls to his number, or calling him collect and stringing him along.

Got a call and said there is a virus on the computer. (The person called me by my name, little scarry). Then said to log on and to give some specific numbers from the computer, but did not agree.
Looks like some scam trying to get personal information. do not agree to anything.
