Just called the number back because I see from my caller ID that they call constantly.  Someone live actually picked up and at first I was nice and asked them to stop calling me.  He laughed.  I told him they were violating federal law.  "Ohhhh - that would cost us a million dollars!".  Then I got mad.  I saw the company (and the phone number were from the Houston area so I told him I realized being from Houston he was stupid.  WOW - did that set him off.  First he said he was in Phoenix, Arizona.  Told him to try again.  Finally he "apologized" again and THEN said "why would someone have a phone and then get so mad about getting calls?".  Then I lit into him.  I ended up really hurting his feelings (YEA!!!) and he truly apologized (after I told him I was a legal admin with 50 free attorneys to help me sue the company).  During his final and real apology, I HUNG UP ON HIM!!!

It's odd that most of the complaints on here are from Texas and involve a Texas company.  I live in Virginia. They called this afternoon asking for my housemate by his first name.  He's out of town.  When I told them that and asked if I could take a message, they just hung up.

Desert Valley Air  281 404-2071    They call several times a week No Msg.   If they are in the Atty General office paying fines who is the contact person name & phone number???.  Do not call list is a Scam on Americans.

I called & talked to a girl at this number- Girl was curt and sarcastic.  Told her to stop calling.  No effect. Perhaps stalker rules could apply with these types of annoying calls.

The September 2010 teaser call offering a $45.00 tuneup to my a/c system almost immediately turned into a $500 "found a problem."  The followup appointment turned into a $119.00 "found a problem". I was assured that the unit was in great shape for the upcoming summer onslaught of heat. In May 2011 a service rep phoned to do a check for the upcoming summer. It was discovered that the unit was completely out of freon. The technician stated that the initial tech should have caught this problem since this was the second time in 8 months to put 4lbs more of freon. He would run dye to see where the problem existed. Running the dye would cost $316.00 but would not fix the problem. To this I escorted the tech off the property. I believe that this con could have gone on indefinitely. Do yourself a favor call Baker Jones. The BBB has given them 4 stars. They seem to have integrity.

I had an experience a couple months back with these people, and I'm passing along the fact that the State is NOT gonna be looking out for the consumer on this type of stuff.

I got pulled in on the $44.95 service check. The tech said I had a leaking evaporator and wrote that up on the service ticket. I had already been running the A/C this year and had had no issues. The system was still under warranty by the original installers, so I thanked the tech and sent him on his way. I then found this forum and its discussion and checked with the BBB and saw that PVAC had been kicked out of the BBB. I checked with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and saw that the owner of the company had been fined the previous year. I then decided to file a complaint with the TDLR to try to help stop this company from attempting to steal from anyone else.

I finally got a letter back from the TDLR saying they were closing the case for insufficient evidence. I had provided them with a copy of the receipt where the tech said I had a leaking evaporator. The TDLR rep said that I would have needed a written estimate which specified the cost of the total repairs before the TDLR could have taken further action.

I had the original installer come out and do another service check. Everything was fine - thank goodness PVAC hadn't purposely screwed anything up on my system.

So, bottom line is, us consumers are on our own. I don't know what role the TDLR plays in the big scheme of things, they sure aren't interested in regulating the bad apples out of business. After an episode with the Houston BBB several years ago I found that they will change their rules so that the business wins - that deal was a big waste of my time and money. So no useful help to the consumer from them either.
