Even if you did owe a debt to them, it is illegal to threaten people.  Debt is civil, not criminal, so no one is going to jail.  

Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Next time these yahoos call, tell them that per the FDCPA, they MUST mail (not email or fax) documentation proving you owe this debt and that they can legally collect said debt in your state.  If they refuse, or say they've sent this before, tell them that per the FDCPA, you owe them nothing.  A caller who refuses to send proof of debt doesn't actually have proof - and in many cases, the debt has already been paid off - to the original creditor - or they're trying to get you to pay a bogus debt.

Tell them you're recording all calls they make to you on the advice of your attorney (even if you don't have one) for your own lawsuit against them for multiple violations of the FDCPA.

Are these people scanners? I just talked to the Chris guy he was very rude and unprofessional. It sounds creepy and like a scam...they want me to pay a debt. I don't know what's going on and I'm very confused. I was told I'd be put in jail if it wasn't paid.

I have been called by these people on numerous occasions about Fifth Third and they have now contacted my mother. I closed out my account in good standing. They are very rude!!!!! Is there anything that can be done to stop their harassing phone calls?

Told me their name was Global Check Services and they are located in Florida which is not true.  Called me about a seven year old issue which stemmed from a national lawsuit against 5/3 bank for them illegally posting transactions in the wrong chronological order on purpose. Was told and I quote to "pay my debt"  and when I stated the nature of the debt, I was threatened with a court summons.  They refused to give me the address of their company,  and when I told them they were violating the Fair Debt Collection Act,  the girl told me to go "f*** myself and get a manicure."  not sure what nail care has to download with insults,  but they are unprofessional and I highly advise anyone getting a call from them to record it to use against them as they violate so many laws it's not funny.

I have no credit and don't owe anyone. These people are nuts. They only call to harass and talk a bunch of crap. These callers are Debt Collectors.. Pass on...

Got a broken up message from this number.  I called the number back and said I had missed a phone call and only heard part of the message.  A gentle sounding woman answered the phone, pulled up my records on "check fraud" and said that a gentleman by the name of Chris is handling my account.  She put Chris on the phone, who then explained to me what was going on.  Saying that they had contacted the New York General Attorneys office, the sheriffs department, and said that I will be issued a court summons.  I asked for all information to be sent to me, and the gentleman on the phone just kept talking, would not let me say anything, and told me good luck in court, called me a dirtbag, then hung up.  Very rude,  If they really are some kind of recovery service, they do a horrible job at it.

I have no credits or own Anyone anymoney, and yet these company are harassing me. Please put a stop to it.

They are constantly calling me wanting me to pay money on my payday loan, they really want the $500 in fees not really concerned about the other 500 of the loan amount

Got a call twice from this number. Are they legit Bill collector? Its quite frustrating.
