I got the call from them tonight and said that i was with the national police force and i was starting an investigation into them and also reporting to interpol and we were going to track them down in and do what they do with all those there and place them in jail with no hope of getting out for life as when they go to jail there they are locked away for life. and that we would be calling them and tracking them down and when someone knocks on their door they will be coming for them..
at that point i took an air horn and wispered into the phone so they would come nice and close asking if they could hear me .. she said yes.. then i said softly listen to me.. she said what then i blasted the air horn.. they hung up.. lol....

I received a call from this number today. Said he was calling because my windows program on my computer was reporting serious errors that were a potential hazard to my computer. I could hardly understand his thick east indian accent. I refused to let him "help" me but now I can't get on any of my programs.

I just got a call and an man from an Asian country who said my computer was sending error messages and he wanted me to go to my computer and go through the steps he was going to give me to corect these error messages. When I started to question him as to the company he represents etc. he said he knew my phone number and address so he had to be valid. I asked if I could put him on hold because I was on another call. He did and while he was on hold I looked up area code 282 and it came back with no city/state attached and that it was a SCAM. I also called the computer company I have used for years and as he listened he quietly told me what to say and what to ask for. I asked for the name of the company, Windows Service Company, I asked for his Corp. License number, no response then he told me to ask for their Taxpayer Id. number, he hung up. Don't fall prey to these vultures!

Caller stated that he was looking for my husband (who is deceased) and said that my husband's computer is badly infected with viruses and they needed to clean his computer... my daughter works in a large IT department and keeps my computers running beautifully. this is a bogus call that is trying to scam elderly people.

Just received a call from this number from a gentleman with a very thick foreign accent, advising me that our computer was sending error messages to the server and wanted to walk me through fixing it. I asked him who he worked for and he said "Windows". I said, so you work for Microsoft? He replied no, he works for Windows. Normally I would get angry at this point but it was almost laughable. I asked him which of our several computers was sending the error message or if he could give me the IP address? He did not have that information. I then interrupted him again as he started into his speech on how to fix my computer and asked him which server it was that was receiving the errors? He replied "The Windows Server". Duh, of course, if he works for Windows it would be the Windows server. By this point I think he was agitated with my questions and lack of cooperation and asked me if I was going to fix the problem. I actually did laugh this time and told him I would take care of it. After that, he was done with me.
Like I told my wife, when the caller ID says "Name Not Found" just ignore it.
If you do get one of these scams, whatever you do, DO NOT follow their fix it instructions. I suspect when they are done they would have complete remote access to your computer and all of it's contents.

I just received a call saying the guy (with thick indian accent) was from Microsoft and that there was an issue with my computer and that I should go to my command line etc. ... he read off my windows xp license number (not sure how he got that) and asked me to verify the number ... I listened to the number (which was correct), then hung up on him ... the original number he called from was 'unknown' but then just after I hung up on him I received an immediate call back from 282-726-2524 which I did not answer (no message left) ... I'm now wondering if this guy was a hacker and was monitoring my computer when I went onto the command line and looked at that information and now knows information he can use ... anyone out there know anything about this sort of thing?

My way has also been to politely ask them to please call 416-808-2222 and they will be pleased to help. It is the local non-emergency police phone number.
| Annoyed 2012-01-23 17:52:13 Unknown |
These are the same guys obviously from a call center in India, who often claim to be from Microsoft and try to take information from your computer. Do not converse with them. Hang up. Ask your local police where you should report these fraudulent calls.

CALL ID DISPLAY 282-726-2524. Repeated calls and and left no message on machine. Returned a blocked call and the number is INVALID. Call could not be completed so I searched for information as it is suspicious. The post pattern affirms my suspicion.

My (93 year old) father received a call and they 'knew' his name and 'knew" that he was having computer problems. They worked on restarting his PC for 3 hours before asking for his credit card and when he refused, they hanged up.

I get a call daily from this number. The area code appears to be invalid. I never answer calls from this number. Anyone have info on this number?
| Morro Bay Resident 2012-01-12 00:22:46 Unknown |
Caller claimed he was with Microsoft, told me to get on my computer because he needed information to fix my computer. Fortunately we arer in the computer business and knew it was a scam. Do not give out any personal information to anyone claiming to be from Microsoft without validating.
