I got the same call. Claimed to be from Microsoft Security. Said my system might crash. I told him I was on the do not call list and I would turn him in to the NYS attorney general. He was persistent and asked me to turn on my computer. I told him if he was so smart he would know my computer was on. I put him on notice again and hung up. I then turned the number in to the donotcall registry.

Unfortunately, you were another one who was taken advantage of by the ragheads, who have an inborn talent of ripping people off, in order to feed their camels.

Samantha -
Sorry you fell for the scam.
You might have to do more than a high-level format of your hard drive(s). Some malware survives high-level formats.
Also, there is a chance the scammer copied your contact list to send scammy emails to friends, and tried to copy any passwords or financial info that might have been on your machine. Change all your passwords after your drive has been wiped / reinstalled. Contact your financial institutions & card issuers. Monitor your credit report.
And, if the scammer asked for money to do his nastiness, make sure you try to stop payment!

"Stephen Parker" called from Windows Support and said that there were "calls" from my computer to the Windows Technical Support servers and that there were lots of errors. He had me install TeamViewer and then he did some things to my computer. It was too late that I realized it was a scam. I didn't give my phone number, but now i need to wipe my computer and re-install everything.
This is a SCAM!

I have received the same phone call saying there something wrong with my Windows computer. The problem is they called my cell phone. I had one of these calls at my mom's also. I called my computer shop and they told me that these are scammers to get your credit card number.
Also..I looked up 288 area code. The 288 area code is NOT a valid area code. This area code is NOT officially assigned to a known Numbering Plan Area (NPA). The 288 area code is not assigned to a city/state location.
In most cases with invalid area codes, these numbers can tend to be used by telemarketing companies.

Get calls from this phone number at least 2-3 times each day. Asking for someone named Lenny (I have had this phone number for about 2 yrs and still get calls for "Lenny"). Each time I tell them they have the wrong number. They hang up on me. When I tell them to remove this phone number from their call list, they just hang up on me. Really starting to piss me off

The guy with the thick accent was very rude. He didn't identify himself and was disrespectfully pushy.

I received several calls from this number EACH DAY. They always ask for someone named Lenny. I have told them SEVERAL times that they have the wrong number. They hang up on me each time.
