This is a fraud campaign currently active in Canada using a series of VOIP numbers.  The objective is to obtain your credit card number and drain your account.

If you attempt to "opt out" your number will be confirmed as live and added to a suckers list for repeated future calls.

I called the number back and got a voicemail for "credit services" offering low credit card interest rates. It's a scam.

Recieved a call from 1(289)294-0672 today and I am in Calgary. Did not pick up.

Call all the time to say:" This is your second and final notice to card and credit card account......."

I'm in Calgary and just received two calls from 289-204-0672 about 10 minutes ago - the calls came seconds apart. I let them both go to voicemail but they didn't leave a message.

I'm in Calgary. Got this call. I didn't answer. Still pisses you off that they are calling your personal cell.

Received this # on both my land and cell lines.  I've cancelled by voicemail on my cell phone because of callers like this.  I just let it ring and they get no joy of a voicemail, because if even your voicemail picks up then they know it is a live #.  If anyone of my friends or family really  wanted to reach me they would know that email or text is more likely to reach me.  Cancelling the home phone shortly so to paraphrase the soup nazi from Seinfield "No Voicemail for you!"

Scam

Number came up on display below unknown.  Didn't answer. Figured it was a call centre.

VERY ANNOYED ON NO-NAME BUT JUST DISPLAY #'s ON CEL PHONE AND LANDLINES, BUT SOMETIME JUST HAS THE LOCATION ON CEL PHONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you answer and get dead air has anyone tried hitting this 3 key sequence:
* # *  (or it may be # * #, I can't recall).

I did this a couple of times and the dead air turned to a message "this number has been deleted from our database".  Not sure if it was true or not, but I keep doing it.  

I think it makes the autodialer believe it hit a FAX machine or other non-person device.

Oct 10/12 - Rec'd a call from this phone number.  *67 and called back....says "it is out of service".

Also rec'd a call from this number, in Newfoundland.  The Federal government may not realise we exist, but the scammers surely do!!  Called back and when I got a live voice, put them on hold.  Also, when any of these type numbers come up, answer and repeatedly press the # key -- this creates a facsimile screech response.  Hopefully there is a live ear at the other end!

This was an automated message that "Due to recent legislation..... may be eligible to lower credit card rates.  I was given the option to speak to someone about this (press 1) or not receive any further calls (Press 2) I pressed 2 and a recorded voice told me that I would not be called again. The caller did terminate the connection after this although they said nothing else so I terminated the connection.

Garbage, I hate these random calls as much as I do the random fax marketing that wastes my ink and my time.

Just got the call. I'm in Calgary, but didn't pick up due to the high probability it was some b***s*** autodialer, and no message was left. Hopefully I didn't miss out on winning an iPad or a cruise or something! LOL

Calgary as well. I picked up because sometimes I get calls from weird numbers for a credit issue I'm dealing with. It was dead air. Probably going to get spammed with more of these calls now. Should always check 800notes! Smart thinking to eddric above me! About time people like this get in some trouble. No doubt a big scam.

They get your cell number by either some moron selling it without our knowledge or they use a software program that calculates all the possible number streams and mass bombs the numbers out. This way its fishing. If you answer the call, they then know its a live number. Thats why I wont answer a number I dont know and let it go to voice mail.

They said I won $5,000,000.00   how would I like to receive it.  I said UPS   they said call back tomorrow at 1 876 298 2374.   I think I shall give both to the police, I smell something funny hear!

I just got a call from this number on my cell phone. I didn't answer it as I wasn't familiar with the number and don't answer calls with unfamiliar area codes - sure would like to know how they got my cell number.

Caller ID displayed was V00213181900036 - calls from this number are now permanently call forwarded to the CRTC

It's a Toronto area code, if that means anything.....I didn't answer, I have special ring tones for idiots like these....lol

Didn't introduce themselves first and I hung up at that point. Have reported to CRTC's DNC list.
