May 7/13 - I received a call; when I answered there was a pause and a beep.  Sounded like a fax machine, so I hung up.  Don't have a fax, don't know anyone at that number.  It is Greater Toronto Area.

Other numbers posted indicate the 'Woodbridge gang' that got busted up about 2 years ago are operating again.  Calling spoofing a fake (604) number and using an VoIP line - they pretend you filled out a ballot and they want you to confirm your personal data (name address income!) so you can 'claim your prize'.  Then someone has to call back and arrange for 'your pickup' - which turns out to be (currently called 'a vacation club) timeshare scam. The so called vacation is simply a scam to sell a very likely not real timeshare scam.  

The trick is - the crooks behind it, by that point, already have your name, address, income, phone number...and are using it to create FAKE IDs for more fraud to be done in YOUR name.  You won't know until you ask for a Credit Report or when its already too late.  DON"T TELL THEM ANYTHING - just hang up and report to the RCMP anti-fraud unit (email: info@antifraud.ca).  Check the antifraud website for Top Ten scams.

Three tries to reach us, one right after the other - calling my home/landline - it is unlisted so this must be a robo-call - no messages left. Just after noon, Vancouver PST.

Recorded female voice  thanking me for registering my number for fantastic vacation. Beep before voice.
I hung up.

This is a fraud campaign currently active in Canada using a series of Iristel VOIP numbers.  The objective is to obtain your credit card number and drain your account.

 If you attempt to "opt out" your number will be confirmed as live and added to a suckers list for repeated future calls.
