these people are calling my home number several times a day and not leaving a message

They called me EASTER DAY. a HOLIDAY! says that I have a credit card through him. (which I don't) my mother told them I was sleeping. He (Jeff) said it was imperative I call back and my mother hung up during the number.

I also was getting calls from what appeared to be a call from 289-446-1006, but as soon as I answered th phone it disconnected.  Today I let it ring.  A message was left from the United Law Group. The number was 800-643-1766. He said someone from my number called and indicated they were struggling with paying the mortgage, which is not true.  He said he would take me off the list.

I, too, receive calls from this number but every time I pick up who ever is calling hangs up. I'm also on the National 'do not call' registry; however, it seems that it doesn't matter. These telemarketers are still calling both my home/office and cell phone numbers. Most annoying!

I just got a call from this number. When I answered the phone the line was dead, then when I re-dialed the number a recorder came up and said "The number you have dialed is not in service, please dial again ... "  -- Some one told me that if you get many odd calls like this in one day, it may mean that the intent is to block a material call coming in, for example in one day I got about 8 calls, from all over like 402-982-0821, 603-214-3645, 702-520-1175, 800-689-3059, 407-992-8872, etc. It does not mean that these people are really calling, but that whoever is blocking your phone uses a tape that shows the calls coming from telemarketers. Hmmmm - just food for thought.

This scum bag called me at work and left his imperative I call back message too. We should get this jerk nailed for calling people on the DNC list.

Received a call from this number, but unlike many of the other cases, no voicemail was left. You know, I got rid of my home phone because I was tired of sales calls and I never got them on my cell, but now they're coming more and more rapidly. I hope this a-hole doesn't call back. I don't even have a freakin' credit card.

CALLS FROM KLEIN 289-446-1006...THESE CALLS ARE NON STOP TO MY CELL AND WORK NUMBER SO I CALL THE 800 599-5864 NUMBER THAT KLEIN SAYS TO CALL AND INFORM THEM TO REMOVE MY NUMBERS...NO CALLS SINCE.  SOMETIMES IT IS JUST EASIER TO TAKE ACTION INSTEAD OF REACT AND COMPLAIN

just call the 800 599 5864 number that klein leaves and tell them to remove your numbers.  I did this and have not recieved a call from them in weeks

this guy calls my cell and my work number.  Does anyone have the 800 number they say to call because I keep deleting it.  I would like to research that number and find out

Well i just got this call like 20 mins ago and i always look numbers up that i dont know on the web....this is the 1st call from this Jeffery guy and yes he does say it is imperative that you call me back...yes i know this is a scam and i wish somehow you could block this number but i they dont....bunch of bull if you ask me...How do they get our number?? I only put my cell number on like bills and stuff...eeeerrrr...i already get another call from 1-716-566-9598 that will call me like 3 times a day and then not call me at all for 2 more days.  When you answer the phone they just hang up...i think they want you to call back so you can pay gobs of money or something....that makes me mad 2....cause i have put my number on the Do Not Call Registry and i have filed a complaint on this number but they still call so apparently it doesnt work all that well...is there any one else who gets this number???

I'm in Auburn, Alabama and received a call from (289) 446-1006, it was a recording with a guy named Jeffrey talking about credit card bills.. This is the first time it's happened to me, but from the looks of it, it's happening to a lot of people many times over..

Just got a call from the same dude. You all could try registering with donotcall.gov, and it's supposed to last for 5 years, but it's only been 6 months since I registered. But during that time, I didn't get a single call.

Just called me, left the same message you are all reporting.

I started getting calls last week from a different number, too... it's very annoying and very illegal.

Does anyone know if there's something that can be done about this?

I just received a call from this Jeff guy as well.  I didn't answer it because I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know.  Left me the same blathering message as he has the rest of you.  I called the 800-599-5864 "Inter County" number and actually got to speak to a live person.  She told me the are a "debt consolidator" and I asked her how they got my private cell phone number, of which she said "ma'am I don't know, would you like to be removed from the list?"  I said YES.  So, we shall see what happens.  My cell number is the only phone number I have, so my guess would be that someplace I have applied for credit with recently has given my number to this company.  Ugh!

Again, same story as all of you and I'm tired of it.

i got a call this morning at 7am!  mine too was on my work cell phone-a number that no one has and a number that has no minutes.  my voicemail from him was chopped off until the end too.  must be a recording.  hope this is not a regular thing.  he also said it was imperative to call him back.  what kind of scam is this?

This person is always harrasing me on my cell phone nevertheless. I wish 5 mins with him.

Same story as everyone BUT I called my Cell Phone company (cingular) and reported it. I was delighted to find I can prevent this type of caller from finding my number.  He uses a "Blaster" to try numbers and record the active ones.  He then calls the active numbers with his B.S.
Cingular can and did disable my two phones from responding to the Blaster solitation. He will have your number for a time if he wishes to call directly but your phone will be reported to him as "inactive."
He probably isn't physically in Canada but just dialing from there.  My VOIP phone can have any area code I wish.

Just got my first call from this number on my cell phone, but no message was left.  Do they really call as often as people are saying?  Anybody know how to block this number with verizon?

yes iv had the same thing happen my phone calls started after i visited a walkin clinick. gee i wonder.im going to check into this ill report back.

This must be an automation...a message was left on my cell, but the first half was missing.  I assume that means that the automation began before the recorder started - a live person would have waited.

I have been recieving calls from this number about 2-3 times a week for the past 2-3 weeks.  I sick of hearing from him.  Sometimes he leaves a message other times he does not.  I hope we can end this soon.

Jeffery Klien says its imperative to call him to reduce my credit card debt. First its my busniess cell phone, so I may send this to my legal department if he doesn't stop. Call originates out of Ontario Canada, but that number seems to act like a payphone that doesn't accept in comming calls. I called the 800 number at 5am my time to try and wake his butt up but got a message that says, "This is Jeffery Klien at Inter County Research" and to call back between 7am and 4pm PST.
