Disney Vacation alert - I won a contest I did not know I entered. They had my name, phone number and email. Wanted additional information from me. I hung up.

I had the same phone call tonight "congratulations you entered into a draw for a free trip to Florida through TELUS" and same, they wanted to verify a bunch of my personal info. I hung up, pretty wierd considering I didn't enter any contests!

I have had a couple of calls, saying I was entered into a drawing... and I won a trip to Florida. Interestingly, I work from home and I said I cannot talk I am at work and the person just went on reading her script, so I put the phone down 9not hung up) and when I went back 15 minutes later, she was still talking. I told her I was sorry I am at work and did not hear what she said and she actually started her entire thing from the beginning, with her name and all. I loudly told her I am at work and have no time for her scam and hung up at that point BUT before I hung up I made sure she knew that certain info she thought she had was incorrect. When I blocked my number and tried calling back, it said there is no service for the number that I dialed so it is obviously a call out number only. I have no clue from where.

Oh, and one more interesting note - when I tried calling the number back, there was a message that the number is not in service.

I got a call from this number asking for my boyfriend. I said he wasn't in. They asked if I was his wife. I said common law. She told me that he recently entered his information for a contest online and that he has won a trip to Florida. "Welcome aboard!" At that point, I said "Wait, I've had a call like this before, and it was a scam." She said something about not being a scam, and "Don't be silly." She proceeded to confirm his date of birth and his name. I didn't really acknowledge any of the info. I asked where she was calling from. She said America. I asked what company. She said "United". I said "United what?". She said "Just United". She continued on "And I see here that he is an active member of VISA."
I said "Nope! It's a scam", and hung up.
Beware if this number calls. She said she's calling from the US and it's a 289 number? Really? Idiot.
