I was called today. My caller ID said Anonymous. Curious, I called back and got a message from the College Republicans. Is this the best they can do?

I just received a call from Pat Byers at the 301-223-0051 number. I wish these darn people would stop calling. I'm on the Do Not Call list but I guess it means absolutely nothing as I get multiple phone calls daily from all of these people. I just hate that 20% of the time it's an actual call, and the other 80% of the time it's a debt collector, political call, some organization, etc. Totally disrupts my day when I run to the phone and discover it's a recording or no one on the other end at all.

This number comes up with the name A. Smith.  I've never listened, just answered with an immediate hang up.  Between this call, the Gila Corp, Stop Obama, College Republicans, etc., etc., I'm ready to change my phone number.  But from the comments I've been reading here, I guess it wouldn't help.

I just got a call which I will add or have already added to my block list.  I will now get no ring but will get a list of blocked calls on my phone.
I have the Panasonic cordless telephone  Model kx-tg6842b (2 handsets)
You can block 250 numbers plus kill the one ring that existed on earlier models that only allowed 30 blocked numbers.  If other phone models are connected you will still get the first ring on them.
The one handset model sells for $70 at Amazon.

The number is now going under the name of A Smith.  No message left.

Just tell them to go screw themselves and hang up.  End of calls.

Please do not call this number.  We get too many calls at all hours.  It may not be that what you are doing is wrong.  We just have someone that needs to rest and this is disruptive.

Whomever this is who is calling is really annoying since they continue to call and call and have been for a while.  It comes up A Smith on my caller ID.  I never pick up since I am on the Do Not Call Registry and I do not know who it is calling.  They never leave a message.  The unwanted calls really need to stop.

Probably another Obama attempt to turn voters against Republicans.
Republicans should create a "College Democratic Organization"
and use their tactics against them: Harassing calls.

Yup.....we got one of those.Not the model you noted, but similar. It has been a godsend. During the election season last year, we were bombarded with robo-calls as well as like the ones this thread is about (I just got one too). After setting it up and giving it a while to grab numbers, the house is actually quiet now.

The idiots do get through at least once. But once they do, you block them and that is it. Not only does the phone not rign, but the call is disconnected before it gets to the answering machine, so all those "dial-tone message" recordings cease too. These little boxes seem a bit pricey, but the peace of mind is worth it.

Depending on your setup, you may still see the caller ID come through first (ours shows up on the TV), but that is not so bad. It is the incessant ringing that was the issue.

Received call on 11/20/2013 and, as usual, didn't answer.  Caller ID said A Smith, as has been previously reported.  Other numbers, allegedly the same people, are:  703-398-0840 and 301-223-0055, the latter registered as Alex Smith.  Just don't answer and/or get a good call blocker.  I've found there really is no real solution for stopping these criminals.

I got s call with A Smith.  The only Smith I know calls me on my cell phone.  If you won't leave a message you can't talk with me...

Why not permanently? Because the 90 days are "Free" with Verizon. If you want it permanently, then Verizon will add another monthly charge to your phone bill. I know this for a fact, because I spoke with a rep. at Verizon and was told that the 90 days are "Free" and the permanent one will cost you extra money every month. I'm in the habit of saving money, not giving it away........ Also, after 90 days, you will have to re-enter the phone numbers once again, but it's worth it.

Just received a call from this number. Listed as anonymous on my caller id, but showed the number. No one spoke when I answered and then it disconnected. I really don't appreciate it when someone calls and doesn't say anything. This sort of thing pisses me off.

Received a call from 301-223-0051.  Caller ID lists name as A. Smith.  I submitted this information as a complaint to the National Do Not Call Registry as our number is on the Do Not Call list.

These guys are just checking to see if I am home so they can try to rob me blind.  My Winchester is waiting for them at the door.

Calls regularly - no one there when phone is  answered - ID says either "A Smith" or "Alex Smith".

I get daily calls, sometimes two aday from 301-223-0051. I have caller ID so don't pick up. So annoying.

My caller ID states Alex Smith.  This person calls all hours of the day and night. I dont answer it because I dont recognize the number, and I assumed it was a telemarketer.  They never leave a message.  I have been on the Do Not Call list for years now.  I want this to stop.

This person also calls under the alias A Smith.
