No! Unless you live in a community property state (Arizona, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin) or  co-signed for the debt, they cannot collect a penny from you.

non stop calls from multiple #'s.  They are now asking for my husband.  When I told them my husband died 3 years ago they wanted to know what I did with his life insurance.  Is this legal???????  

Excellent advice I will be using the information am so tired of them calling. We did a cease and desist letter and then they turn around and called his parents! And they live out of state and NO INFORMATION was given out about his parents Nothing! Scum suckers excuse us that we have been dealing with a medical crisis that's the last thing I want to do is deal with jack a** collectors!!

They call every two hours or more from 8am-9pm each and every day...good thing I have call block! I owe them nothing, told them that on the first call, I have never opened a credit card in my life, never will.

They call at all hours, even Sunday.  They never leave a message.  Very annoying.

This is a collection agency, they call 4-5 times a day 7 days a week, when they can't get you they ask for your husband! I'm single if they find me one I'll accept the calls!

Stop calling.  I don't know who you are or what you want, but STOP!

They call me 4or5 times a day If it is a collection agency they are breaking the law by not leaving a message.I have had problems like this before and I reported it to a lawyer and they told me by law they have to leave a message!

This is a collection agency, and they are very rude and not very bright.  They called several times a day from a different number (which I now have blocked), and would leave messages on my voicemail saying: "Shannon?.....hello, shannon?.....Shannon?....Shannon, hello, shannon?"

My voicemail's outgoing message clearly states that you are reaching voicemail and to leave a message.  I blocked this company, I have no use for a company that cannot grasp the intricacies of uber-complicated voicemail. ;-)

NCO keeps calling from this # and they keep asking for different people that I do not know. or i get a recording that says the have no operators available to take the call they made.

I just got a new phone and they call several times a day and on weekends. I have already told them that the # is incorrect but they still call. I am concidering changing my phone #.

My son just got this phone for Christmas and just got this number they have called non stop I tried to tell them This is my son's phone and we just got this number on Christmas eve.. He is only 6 and it's just a little 15 dollar phone he can bring with him to his grandparents..

Typical smarmy,bloodsucking vultures who buy delinquent accounts for mere pennies on the dollar and then proceed to attempt collection. The promise ? If you pay your balance to them,you will be paid in full to them. Unfortunately,if you pay,you will not be off the hook to the original creditor. They have creative ways to begin harassing you all over again. It is an almost never-ending abysmal journey through trying to catch up with your bills. Best bet ? FILE FOR BANKRUPTCY and get it over with.There is a tomorrow and you can get there. Do not spend endless stress trying to deal with the morticians who work for these creepy,lowlife entities who constantly break every law dealing with debt collecting. Good luck!

Stop Calling me!!!

I am responding to you because your name is the same as my late mother's. I received two calls earlier from this number. No messages were left. On the basis of other postings here, I blocked the number, and will not even hear my phone ring if anyone calls from this number. This is not the first time that NCO has called. They have called from previous numbers. When I tried to get information from them pretaining to the nature of their so-called urgent business, they would ask for the account number they issued. When I told them I had no such number, they got really rude and hung up. I don't have to stand for that nonsense from ANYONE!!!, and you shouldn't have to either.

That video did give me a couple of laughs, and it was appropriate as to how debt collectors act. I always followed the advice in previous postings. I deal only with the original company that I allegedly owe money too. After getting treated worse by collectors (from NCO and other places), I will not deal with collection agencies any more. If I am told, FROM THE ORIGINAL CREDITORS, that my debt was sold to a collection agency (I know this to be a common business practice), I ask for WRITTEN PROOF that the debt was sold, and that proof MUST include: 1. Date Of Sale, 2. Name of agency debt was sold to, and THE EXACT NAME AND PHONE NUMBER OF THE PERSON THAT CONDUCTED THE TRANSACTION ON THE AGENCY'S BEHALF. If the original creditor will not provide that proof, then, as far as I am concerned, I STILL OWE THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR ONLY!!!. I received a call from this number earlier. As usual, no message was left (if these collection agency calls are legitimate, why doe they not leave messages with appropriate information as to how to respond?). I called the number from a pre-paid cell phone. I received a message with stated "thank you for calling. your call is important to us. please wait for the next available agent". After about 8 seconds of silence, I got another message which stated "thank you for calling NCO. all agents are busy. please wait for the next available agent". On that basis. I would say that this is a number belonging to NCO, which, with all its names (NCO NCO Financial, NCO Group, etc.) is still a collection agency which seems to operate just on the "other side" of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act".
