The D.N.C. list is for honest people/companies.
From my understanding, the D.N.C. list does not prevent/stop companies with whom you have recently did business wtih, including with in the past. Companies usually hire Telemarketers or Solicitors to handle there accounts with individual's who no longer do business with them. It also doesn't prevent Charities or any other type of fund raising organization from contacting you, asking for a donation.
Occasionally, a Scammer will be mixed in with these phone calls.
Telemarketers, Solicitors, including Scammers know when the "Best Time" to contact you and that is usually around dinner time or when you are trying to relax or just spend time with your family.
My solution and it's been working so far:
1) turn the ringer off on the phone  
2) let my VM take care of it            
3) kick back -n- relax
4) eat my dinner in peace and most important,
5) spend time with my family.
If it's important, than who ever is calling, will leave a message, if not, not important to begin with and since no message is ever left, I know that it was ROBO dialing in progress and that indicates to me, that it was either a Telemarketer, Solicitor or worse a Scammer calling.

I agree with you Johnny Cat. The "Block this Caller" on IOS 7.0.2 is wonderful. It works a lot better than being on the DNC List, in which I am, unfortunately.

They call and leave messages but when I go to listen I don't hear anything.

SAME S*** HAPPENED HERE EVERY OTHER DAY.  I HAVE NO IDEA AT ALL, WHO THE HELL IS THIS PERSON.

do something about this annoyance. against the law and no one is helping.

stop the calling. do not call. invasion of privacy is illegal.

BTW, I don't live in Maryland anymore (and haven't for 8 years), but I still have a MD cell number. I know the numbers of any friends/family who still have MD numbers, so it was a red flag that this number came up as one without a contact I knew. Sounds like they're spamming big time.

Wow ? I got four calls in a row today; none that I answered (no message left). Annoying.

They call me every day, but I never answer once I see who's calling.  It needs to stop!

I get a call from this @#$$@#!@# number at least once a week. No message, no nothing. When I answer it's silence.

SCAM! I got a msg saying birth controls pills can cause strokes, heart attack and blood clots and press buttons to opt out or connect to them to obtain legal representation.

This phone number called me on 1/26/12 but did not leave a message. I have entered my phone number on the F.CC do not call registry, so I should not be getting any calls from any business

Rude to call my cell phone.  Have not given this number out, only to family.  Quit calling.

My husband just received another call from this number around lunch time. he says that this time it was a recording saying, "Thank you for completing our survey", (which we never did), then listing options for choosing a "free gift" for participating.  Also had an option for being removed from list, which my husband chose.  Hope that wasn't a mistake.  I would have just hung up again.

May be a telemarketer or may be someone playing pranks.

Last night at dinner time, received call from this number.  It was a recorded call asking if anyone had had a vaginal mesh implant.  My husband hung up.  Caller ID screen said, "Unknown Name" and showed this number.    Having seen all those lawyer ads on tv for people experiencing complications from pelvic/vaginal mesh implans, I suspect this was someone trying to drum up business for a law firm.

Since;we are on the National Do Not Call list, this call was in violation of FCC regulations.

This calls and says nothing.  I have registered this phone on the Do Not Call list.

This number has called before, 4 or 5 weeks ago, I put on my block caller list, on my cell phone.
They haven called lately, but it did show up on my blocked call list today.
I use the "block this caller", on my cell phone. It works real good. It will show the number on missed call, but does not ring. I have 40 to 50 on my list now. I was getting 4 or 5 of these B.S. calls a day, every 1 to 2 hrs. Then I found the "block this caller" on my cell phone, in the phone call setting, and started using it.
Also I use this web site to check the numbers, and let other know its a BS number too.
I use a per pay cell phone, if you answer you pay. It helps to save money.

I agree with you, 'concerned.' Just because someone is obviously making prank phone calls, does not mean that he or she is a homosexual. Sexual orientation is a choice that people make on who that wish to have relationships with. It does not denote anything about what phone calls they may or may not make. While, I do not agree with being homosexuality, I do not judge those who do. That is their choice to make, not ours.

You are right in correcting the misinformed individual who blames homosexuals for repeatedly making prank phone calls. It is most annoying, but those of us who have received such calls should not stoop to name calling. We're no better than the pranksters when we do that. Instead, we should try to help those who are making the calls understand that if they want attention, or need someone to talk to, then they should find another way of obtaining telephone numbers for someone who would be willing to talk to them. I am sure there is more than enough information on the internet that could assist them.

Hopefully, the disgruntled individual read your post and will handle things a little differently next time a prank call is made to him or her. Hanging up is probably the best way to handle it if he or she cannot find a more positive way of handling such calls.  As my mother used to say, "if you do not have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. That's pretty good advice if you ask me.

I received a call just before 8 p.m. EST. After I answered the call, there was silence. I said, "hello" a couple of times and then hung up. I waited approximtely 5 minutes and called back and there was a recording about legal services for anyone who may have been in an accident, either by falling on the job or any other type of accident causing injury. At the end of the recorded message, I was given the option to having my phone number removed from their records by entering my area code and phone number. Usually when this sort of thing happens, you usually will continue receiving calls even though you have taken the proper steps to have the calls ceased. I have to wait and see what happens with whomever is making calls from 301-242-5161. These type of calls are such a nuisance.
