I get the calling every morning. It makes me annoying.

Received my first ever call from this number and yes, it is UMD.  Although, unlike previous entries, they left me a message.  It was from the Athletic Club and to return their call.  Pretty certain they are wanting me to purchase Tix for upcoming sporting events, as I recently purchased Football Tix and also signed up for Sporting Event News.
BUT I hear this number does show up when anyone calls from the campus, no matter what they are calling about or where they are calling from on the campus.

I went to UMD and have purchased numerous basketball tickets over the years....the guy was trying to get me to buy a season ticket package.

Getting calls from this number ... probably asking for donations and/or to join alumni assoc. Did not answer.

If you have ever bought tickets to an event at UMD, are a student or alumni of the university, that could be why you have gotten calls and you're on the DNC list (I am too). You might be able to ask them to take you off of the UMD list.

Its the main exchange for UMD...If anyone calls you from there, this is teh number youll see...NOT their actual extension.  I should know Im a phone/data guy and I work on campus ;)

I have had several calls from this number over the past few weeks. I refuse to answer. Never went to UMD and definitely won't be donating any $ to them!

It is a switchboard at the University of Maryland. I think calls from many different numbers there appear as this number on your phone.

I have gotten about 3 calls from this number over the past 10 or so days.  All calls have been in the early afternoon.

I have never answered but I believe the previous posters who said it is UMD calling for collections.

That number has called me 4 times in the past 2 weeks! It just called me a moment ago.  I answered, but the person hung up. I think it is the OIT dept at UMD.

It could be a type of cyber attack.  I would suggest that no one answer the phone when they see that number.  Just keep the log of when they call.  I have been seeing a lot of google hits about this number, so to be on the safe side, do not answer!

I got a call from this number, but I've never had any affiliation with U.Md.  I am not sure what the deal is, but I have applied for a couple jobs since I am getting my Master's in Higher Education.  Though, I figured they would leave a voicemail if they wanted to interview or something.  If they call again, I will pick up I suppose.

I graduated in 2000...They call me once or twice a day for the last 2-3 weeks.  It was driving me crazy..glad I stumbled onto this site.  I remember they used to call my parents house for donations too...luckily they moved and don't have to deal with the phone harassment.  I was going to write a check for $100,000 but have decided to donate it to Duke instead.

My wife is a U. of Maryland graduate. This is the time time of year when they call.

I just got the same call. The guy seemed nice and he asked for my parents. Didn't talk to them. I go to UMD, why would they want to talk to my parents?

They just called asking for my parents. Why would anyone need to speak to them? This isn't high school...

This number appears when any University of Maryland campus phone calls off campus. That includes academics, fundraising, student dorm rooms, and anyone else.

It's the child development research center at UMD.

They just called my cell phone...   I didn't answer....   Just got the new cell number and haven't enrolled in DNC list yet...  but I will in a minute....   I never attended a school in MD...

I graduated from UMD several years ago, got a call from this number at 9PM.  It wouldn't surprise me if it were a call for donations (I did not answer), though the timing is less than pleasing.  I'm also on a DNC but I suppose that wouldn't apply in this case...
