Event Reminder
They called me from this number.  I called the number on the back of the card and spoke to one of the citibank rep; he said that someone was trying to use my card and that it was very suspicious.  So they wanted to verify if my card was on my possession.  I believe they stopped that suspicious transaction.

keep in mind that it's not that hard to spoof a caller id number. I'm overseas, my card was declined, and I did get a call from citibank, so this is a legit number. but it doesn't mean that a scammer can't just spoof that number and call you as well. anyhow, be careful

#'s totally legit.  It was CitiCards fraud warning group.  They didn't ask me for any sensitive information but asked about some questionable purchases, including a PayPal one for about $500.  That wasn't mine because I don't have a PayPal account.  They're closing down my account and sending me a form to formally dispute the charges.

I spoke with them and they were legit.  I had just signed up for a sports broadcasting service through an online company.  They called my cell and then (because I missed their call) my work phone to verify that the charge was actually made by me.  They were able to tell me how much the charge was on the account, and they did not ask for any personal information from me.

This number is from Citibank.  But don't take my word for it. Call the 800 number on the back of your card to verify.  I received a call from this number today to advise that my card number was among a batch of numbers stolen from a merchant's database.  Customer service advised that they were shutting down the account and re-issuing my card.  Again, this was NOT fraud, but don't take my word for it.  Contact your credit card company using their 800 number.

Someone called me from this number and left a message about fraud early warning. I called citibank directly and they have no record of them calling me. I would not trust this number. Just don't give them any info and call the number on the back of the card.

For me, this was definitely Citibank's fraud protection line.  I had earlier made a couple of overseas flight reservations, so because the charges were made via online AND were from out of the country, the fraud protection department was calling to verify that I had made those charges.  They knew the exact amounts, etc.  It was legit, and I appreciate the extra protection.

This was the citibank fraud number, I was suspicious and didn't give my information to them. Then I called the number on the back of my card and they were able to verify that this was in fact a citibank number. If you are suspicious about any number then I wouldn't give away any information, you can always check it by calling a number that you know belongs to a the company they say they're calling from.

Just got off the phone with them.
This is a legitimate call. They called to state that my credit card number had been compromised in a recent merchant data breech & wanted to verify my home address before sending out a new card & closing the old account.
I stated that they should have it on file, and she was able to verify the home address.
At first I was skeptical given all the negative posts, but this does seem to be legitimate because they were able to not only verify the last few transations on the card but the home address. They had both my home & work phone number.
They don't seem to be terribly in sync with the customer care department, but I suppose these calls are probably outsourced. I doubt it's a scam because I was never asked for my credit card number or any information that they didn't already have. They simply wanted to make sure the card would go to the right place along with a fraud affidavit and inform me that upon activating the new card, the old account would be closed for security purposes.

I called the 1-800 number on my card to verify that this was a legit number and it was the Citi fraud early detection.  Would be nice if Citi had a place on their site to verify such numbers.

I just got a call from the same number but after 2 automated "please hold" notices, it hung up. Went online to see what the number was and people seemed to point to CitiBank. I called CitiBank using the # on the back of the card. They checked their records and they DID NOT call me. Be VERY CAREFUL

This number is run by scammers trying to get your credit card number.  I suspect the post above are the same people.  Call the number on the back of your Citi card, or on their website.

Definitely Citibank.  They left a message. I accessed my account on line and saw fraudulent charges.   I called the Customer Service number from a billing statement.  I was transferred to the fraud department.  Emailed an affidavit with a number of fraudulent charges.

This is NOT a legit number. The people saying here that it's really Citibank must be with the scammers -- it is indeed a scam number. I have received a number of calls where they left a message saying it's Citibank's fraud hotline or somesuch thing and to please call back. I have never opened a Citibank account in my life. Don't be fooled into imagining it must be legit just because some previous posters here insist that it is. It's clearly a criminal operation. Again, I've received a number of messages claiming to be from Citibank fraud center at various times - not all within a couple days. I do not have a Citibank account, never have had one, and have never later received a callback apologizing for accidentally contacting me b/c I'd been called erroneously or anything of that nature. This is NOT actually from Citibank.

I got that call too.  The lady on the phone claimed that she was from Citibank and told me that my Citibank credit card was blocked.  I felt suspicious and told her that I don't have time to talk and she said, "Call back when you have time."  Then I was smart enough to login to my Citibank account online and checked my credit card status and it did show the message in red indicating:  "Please call the customer service to avoid interruption on your credit card transaction."  So, I did call them (other than the number on my caller ID) and I do recall that I have made the online transaction for Yahoo subscription.  Actually, Citibank just wanted to verify to make sure that I did make that transaction online for our protection against fraud.

Thought I just wanted to share with you all one bit of advice.  It is always wise to call or check online with YOUR bank if you're actually have any accounts with them and DO NOT call any other number who called you.  That's right!  It could be a SCAM but you never know.

After reading the other posts on here I called my CitiBank credit card number (not the same one that called me) and they informed me that there had been fraudulent transactions made in the UK and Netherlands. Not sure if the number that called me is legit or not but it did raise alarms.
