This is the check verifying company many retailors use to accept checks. They will call and verify your info if the check writing history has changed from normal to prevent fraud.

They called. I let it go to voice mail. They left no message.

This is Wells Fargo Merchant Services.

They are the customer support group for merchant accounts. They are not a collection agency.

My god, sometimes you guys need to take the tinfoil hats off for once. For crying out loud. And Jeff H.. take them down? lmao... why? They are a legit company.. Authorize.net is one of their VAR providers that they use in conjunction with their merchant processing.

received a call from this number, the lady mumbled over her words so much that i asked her to repeat what she said, she mumbled through her script again, i asked for clarification again, and she hung up

This number for me was B of A Merchant services calling to assist with helping me setup my mobil Smartphone Credit card processing app.

When I answered a call from this number, a lady asked me "Are you Robert M..."? When I said yes, they replied "Thank you, have a nice day" and hung up.  So I read this website, which helped me understand.  Then I remembered that I had written a personal check to Home Depot... I gave the check to my mom so she could buy a lawn mower.  So I immediately called my mom, who (as it turned out)was at Home Depot that very minute.  She said that Home Depot didn't have me on file as a known check writer, and she had no ID for me, so Home Depot called Telecheck.  So in this instance, this phone caller seems to be just an identity verification service.

I was just left a voice mail saying i was approved and i needed to call back to verify some info.

They called me saying they were Wells Fargo wanting to confirm information about my Authorize.net merchant services account, which I just opened. They wanted to "confirm" my routing and account number. Yikes! Take these guys down.

Received a phone call from this number. The caller ID identified FIRST DATA.????   Asked me if this was _________________.....I asked who was calling.  He repeated his inquiry as to whether this was ________________.  I said correct...and he then immediately  hung up.   I found this unsettling as I simply answered our company phone.  I am posting this simply for the record.   I hope nothing negative comes as a result of this.?????

Received call from 301-745-7000, young lady didn't identify herself, just quickly said this call is being recorded, didn't wait for an answer, asked if this is my phone number and said thank you for agreeing to the call.  I didn't agree to anything.  I called the number and they said they are a clearing house for credit card companies.  I informed her that I did not use a credit card.  Brittany in Customer Service said she didn't know what the purpose was for the call.

First Data is my credit card merchant account, not a collections company. That's probably who this is...and i do not owe them anything as they take a cut of each transaction directly from my bank account.

suspicious call saturday morning 11 a.m.from male with heavy accent, asked to verify if I lived at this home.\, then hung up. When I called back some young girls voice (teen) answered and said something I could not understand and hung up

They called and said the same thing to me.  I asked who they were - they wouldn't tell me and hung up.

Got a call, screened it, left no message. My phone is on the donot call list. I am reporting it there as well.

They called and asked to verify this was my phone and then said "thank you have a good day."

I also got a call from 301-745-7000. Looks like some spammer/cold calling company. Very suspicious. Do not pick up and report to your telephone provider.

Also keep in mind you can actually report this to FTA.. I see many people are talking about this number in forums online..

Just got call from this number by a woman with a heavy accent.  She wanted me to verify a checking account number on a bank.  I asked her what bank and when she told me I told her I didn't have an account with that bank and she hung up.

requested to verify funds on a check, had checking account number but name on account was wrong.

The person ask if it is the home of mine, I said no, but this is the person, and the operator hung up immediately.

The company calling from this number claims to be from First Data, which deals with different merchants using credit card terminals, such as Suntrust Merchants.  They call to verify checking account information for business checking accounts.  I'm not sure if they are legit, but I would not give any information to them.

first i got a restricted call that woke me up at 3:08 am! I answered it and nobody said any thing and hung up. Then thirty min later i got a call from 301-745-7000. I missed the call that time. What kind of so called credit collection company calls someone at 3:30 AM!!!!!!!!!!!

Got a call from 301-745-7000.  Called back and it recording says First Data, but caller ID says CES.  No message left. Anyone know these jokers and what they want?

Was a call from Wells Fargo merchant services regarding a creit card machine they had sent me and that I ended up returning.  They were just calling to let me know my account had been credited for the CC machine cost.

I just received a call from this number.  The person had a heavy accent and he asked me to verify if this was the residence of "Mr. Sandra ******"  He could not pronounce my first or last name and he addressed me as Mr.  I asked where he was calling from and he rambled something off.  Again, he asked me if this was the residence and i then hung up.  I did call the number back later in the evening but just got an automated service.

301-745-7000 is the primary phone number for first data located in Hagerstown Md. They are the collections department for citicorp bank and passibly others that I don't know about. If they are verifing your nunber your probably late and they are getting ready to add you to a collections campaign. good luck.

My son called and said he had just gotten a call from 301-745-7000 on 5/3/10 at 3:30 They asked if his name was ------- and he said yes, the man said thank you and have a nice day and hung up. I said I'll check it out and found this site, I called him back and it seems he had just written a check 10 minutes before the call so I feel pretty good that that I don,t have to worry? If anyone thinks I should worry, please post it.

Someone from 301-745-7000 called my cell phone 3/25/10 at 6:24pm asking by name if this was my residence, said thank you and hung up before I could ask any questions. When I phoned the number this am I spoke to someone who identified the company as First Data Merchant Services who provides credit card machines to busineses and said they had no idea why anyone from there would be calling me.
