Got called from 301-790-4200 and did not answer. Stacy left a message saying it was concerning a Citibank card and left a call back number of 877-389-5882 x 0331701. I called the toll free Citbank number on their website and my account had been flagged. They were checks for casino markers that I had signed and they wanted to verify that they were legitimate. So in my case, it was a legitimate call.

It is Citibank. Since the caller had such a thick accent it was very difficult to understand, however it seemed that they thought fraud was committed when I called to activate a new card that I had received from them. They hung up on me, and totally jumped to conclusions. They then called all of my other contact phone numbers and left messages at each, stating that they placed a hold on my credit card, blocking any further transactions. Totally absurd way for such a major bank as Citi to handle such a routine transaction.

This number has called us several times and claims to be Citibank Early Fraud warning. However, we dont' have a Citibank card. We got online and called the actual Citibank number and they said it is a phishing scam. Be careful.

I got a call from this number claiming to be Citi Fraud to check on a credit card. They had a LOT of my personal information including the last 4 digits of a current Citi Visa card. They had me confirm address, both phone numbers, etc and then asked me to give them a security password to lock the account. It was not a current Visa card. I then called my Citi customer service # and they verified that the number was in the area but NOT Citibank. Do not talk to these people...!

It's CitiCard Early Fraud Warning. It's legit. They called me to confirm my identity about traveling. I did solicit the call.

Received calls from this number and when I called, they answered Barclay's Card Bank. In their message, stated someone using my identity applied for a Travelocity Card. I was transferred to Fraud Division and they are investigating. Whomever stole my identity had my SS number.

I received a call from this number, and they left a message that it was Citi "Fraud Early Warning Department." They asked me to call 1-800-782-7658, and gave a reference number. I'm suspicious, so I called the Citi Customer Service number on the back of my card. In fact, they confirmed that the original call was legit, and the 800 number is theirs. My card had been "compromised," i.e., the number was one of many numbers stolen from some merchant, so they have to close my account and send me a new card with a new number.
So, the upshot is that it was a legitimate call. I don't know why some people have reported this as a scam, but perhaps there are some non-Citi crooks spoofing this number?

Received voicemail to call 800 number for important information regarding my account. I foolishly called it back and now I am getting between 20-40 calls a day with threats and strange noises. Police are aware of this scam.

I actually spoke to this number - it was the fraud division of Citibank. I was using a new card for the first time and it was for $800.00 and they were checking with me.

It is Citi Bank. I needed assistance with my Citi Bank Credit Card and I gave the Customer Service Specialist my phone number in case we were cut off; it was fortunate that I did, because we were cut off, and she called me right back from this number.
CALL TYPE: Customer Service Callback.

I received a call from this number today. Said they were from Citi bank's fraud department and wanted to verify that I had opened a credit card with them the night before (I had not). After I said no, he asks me to verify my address and birthday. What?! Why? When I asked why, he went into a long, drawn out, 15 minute explanation how it assists them to find out where the credit card frauds are based out of. Sounded extremely fishy, so I refused to give him any information. He gave me 1-800 numbers to confirm that he was, in fact, with Citi, but I will call the 800 number on the website tomorrow to make sure he is who he says he is.
Bottom line - do not give ANY of your personal information to ANYONE (especially over the phone), no matter what the circumstances!! If they are legit, they will have all of the information that they need!

Got a call from this number and it was from Citi regarding possible fraud on my credit card. I called the number on the back of my credit card just to verify and it was a legitimate call.

They called today and I'm glad I answered. Apparently they were verifying that I purchased 2 tickets to Belize and when on to apple.com and purchased phones. None of which I did. They closed down that card and are issuing another. Thank goodness a company who is doing the right thing to protect their customers

got a call 01-28-2012 and it Was citibank calling to ask if I had opened an account. Told them no and they said they would take care of it. Still wandering how why they would open an account in my name without calling first.
| Crystal 2012-01-13 19:49:58 Unknown |
The number is associated with the fraud department at Citi Card. I confirmed it with a call to the 800 number on the back of my card. In my case, they detected fraud and were letting me know they had cancelled my card and had sent a new one.

This happened to me today - I had received a message from this number via email too and they talk about suspicious activity on my card. I contact my own credit card company and they said nothing was wrong. I've reported it to the fraud department. So frustrating. How do they have my name, email and cell?! I wish someone would bust these people!

No message, only harrassing phone calls from 301 790 4200
| Mr Smith 2011-06-19 18:17:10 Unknown |
It's from the citibank fraud dept but they have people with thick accents calling (probably due to outsourcing). Best thing to do is call your credit card company Citibank directly and verify any credit card charges.
