I received a phone call from 301-825-5012 and it was the same Speical Agent from the DEA, DOJ, FBI. VERY scary, VERY intimidating. I am SO glad I found this website, as I was taking the whole thing very seriously. These scams need to be made public - put on the news so that people know ahead of time that this is illegal and NOT to worry, or God forbid, wire any money! I cannot wait until they are brought DOWN.

Same deal here. "Special Agent Brian Collier" from the DEA.  Left an extensive message on my answering machine about his investigation of pharmaceutical companies and how I was implicated in it. Oh, he had case #'s and all kinds of legalese to try and sound legit. So, I returned his call. He went back and forth from treating me like a criminal then a victim. Using scare tactics, then being understanding. goodcop/bad cop all in one. At one point in the conversation, I heard a dog bark and he put me on hold for a minute then comes back saying, "I've told them to keep those K-9's out of my office." What a laugh. Then he went into his spiel about giving me a second chance and if I would pay a cash fine of $2500 via Western Union I could be left out of the federal investigation. That only he could prevent my incarceration and subpoena and the search of my home.
I just can't believe that I was stupid enough to allow him to string me along that far. Why didn't I know right away? Listening back on the original voice message it is quite obvious that no legitimate law enforcement agency would conduct an investigation like this. So what, I purchased phentermine on-line 5 years ago. I don't think that is as bad as impersonating a federal officer to extort money.
Also, check out the real DEA website. There is an extortion alert on the main page regarding this scam.

ALERT - EXTORTION SCAM - ALERT
DEA Warns Public of Extortion Scam by
DEA Special Agent Impersonators
The Drug Enforcement Administration is warning the public about criminals posing as DEA special agents or other law enforcement personnel as part of an international extortion scheme.

The criminals call the victims (who in most cases previously purchased drugs over the lnternet or by telephone) and identify themselves as DEA agents or law enforcement officials from other agencies.  The impersonators inform their victims that purchasing drugs over the lnternet or by telephone is illegal, and that enforcement action will be taken against them unless they pay a fine.  In most cases, the impersonators instruct their victims to pay the "fine" via wire transfer to a designated location, usually overseas.  If victims refuse to send money, the impersonators often threaten to arrest them or search their property.  Some victims who purchased their drugs using a credit card also reported fraudulent use of their credit cards.

Impersonating a federal agent is a violation of federal law.  The public should be aware that no DEA agent will ever contact members of the public by telephone to demand money or any other form of payment.

The DEA reminds the public to use caution when purchasing controlled substance pharmaceuticals by telephone or through the Internet.  It is illegal to purchase controlled substance pharmaceuticals online or by telephone unless very stringent requirements are met.  And, all pharmacies that dispense controlled substance pharmaceuticals by means of the lnternet must be registered with DEA.  By ordering any pharmaceutical medications online or by telephone from unknown entities, members of the public risk receiving unsafe, counterfeit, and/or ineffective drugs from criminals who operate outside the law.  In addition, personal and financial information could be compromised.

Anyone receiving a telephone call from a person purporting to be a DEA special agent or other law enforcement official seeking money should refuse the demand and report the threat.

He is still doing it.

This is an ongoing scam and I played along once.  They will "let you off with a fine" of only $1500 even though you did nothing.  They will tell you charges are pending against you in federal court.  Then they will likely clean out your account.  I called the f###ers back and ended by letting them know they were being recorded by the US Treasury Dept and they were under investigation for fraudulent schemes based upon collecting money fro the US coffers.  The "Special Deputy in Charge" started screaming that I was dirsespecting a federal deputy, then hollered, "You're going to JAIL," and then hung up.  It was hysterical.

But what they are trying to do is not funny at all.  I truly have turned the over the info to the US Attorney's Office and the Treasury Dept has jurisdiction.  They are investigating.  Multiple serious federal felonies are in play here folks.

Yup - similar call as described above (received yesterday), and also from phone number (301) 825-5012. He left a VM, claiming to be Brian Collier.  As in Marie's case above, he did not ask for money (at least in the voicemail), though he does request that I call him back (which I won't do now having read these posts; I'm assuming he plans on asking for money then).  I've only made 1 online pharmaceutical purchase in the last year (for medications I have valid prescriptions for), and the only online pharmacy I've used for this purchase was Shaz Half Pric Meds (http://www.shaz-half-price-meds.com/).  Wondering if anyone else has similar connections?

Prank Call
I received a call from 301-825-5013 just today. Same scam as described. Had me scared to death!  I even retained an attorney!!  I've been sick worrying all day; was very relieved to read this is a scam.  I will be reporting this to the REAL authorities first thing in the morning.  What is sad is they are using the name (Brian Collier) of a deceased DEA agent who was known and highly recognized as a great law enforcement officer! Pathetic scam!

Lets put this to rest.  Its a scam pure and simple.  People, please disregard and ignore anyone calling and representing themselves as a dea (or any other type of federal or law enforcement agent).

YOU HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR.  This is completely fake and NOTHING will happen to you or your family, These jerks have absolutely no power over you whatsoever unless you let them by falling for their nonsense.

If you have the gumption, try and keep them on the line as long as possible.  Make-up any information they are requesting from you on the spot.  Keep them talking, pretend you are scared and maybe, you will be able to obtain mailing addresses, real phone or fax numbers, or any other information you can use to assist the REAL authorities in apprehending these fools.

If you're not in the mood for any of their games, remind them that impersonating a federal officer or agent is a felony and watch how quickly they will disappear!  Rest easy and think to yourself that this type of call is utter BS.  Take control and tell these guys where to go!

It is very important to file an FCC complaint anytime you receive calls like this.  If enough complaints are registered, eventually these calls may stop.

301 hasn't been a Baltimore area code in probably 20 years or so.  Don't think it's a good idea to answer calls from or phone this number.  Register complaints re telemarketers, pharmacy scams and other annoyance calls via the usual FCC and/or DNC complaints route.  It's best not to answer or return a phone call to any unrecognizable number.
