Yes I did get a message from  this number. I believe it is a fraud.

they just called me saying they are the i.r.s. federal revenue department saying i had refund on my taxes for $2175 due to misfiling errors my tax preparer made. i said ok thanks. they said they needed $226 in debit or greendot card for prep fee. i said take it out of the check your sending me and i get the difference. then i said this i s the real irs and he said yes. so i said i will just go to my local office in augusta ga on perimeter pkwy and check with them about this refund to me and he hung up the phone. some indian guy.

Got the same call. Saying from IRS. 1.Irs doesnt call you to say they owe you money...but scarey thing is they had the last 4 digits of my bank acct number.  Where do these people get there info from...SCAM....Irs will mail you letters not call you and they never admit when they owe you money

this is definetly a scam because they are using google voice lmao why would the irs use google voice? anyway i called them back and acted like i was going to pay them the money and they wouldn't give me any information to send them the money lol i called and kept them going and made a joke out of it. made him look really stupid lol this guy was an idiot

I also just recieved a call from this number.  They left a message telling me they will deposit my refund when they confirm my credentials.  Judging by all the similiar messages I'm reading here, this is definitely a scam.  This same type of thing happened to us 5 years ago but they said they were from the Financial Aid Office and had a free aid money for us.  Our son was a freshman in college that year so we ALMOST fell for it.  Luckilly I asked too many questions and they got spooked and hung up.  I happen to know that when the IRS calls you, it shows up as an Unlisted number.  Hope this helps save someone from falling into the trap.

I received a call From Capitol Management claiming to be from the IRS. They said I was due a refund on my taxes. Wanted me to put $200 on a Greendot Card as a penalyty for making a mistake on my taxes. I do not file I am on Disability.
Told them to send proof in the mail

My husband got the same call this afternoon same number and all.. I told him to hang up and i called h and r block and they said it was a scam and i verified by calling the IRS and they said they do not do that. If they want to get ahold of anyone they send letters TOTAL SCAM and if you still go through with this after reading these then your an idiot. This isnt the first time we have gotten a call like this. Last time they called they were saying my husband owed money and if he didnt pay they were going to have a warrant out for his arrest. When my husband confronted them they began to threaten him saying they have all his info and that he was going to rape and murder his family. We are so sick of this and are now changing our phone numbers email addresses and bank account information. and id advise everyone to do the same!

Got a call on my cell phone today from this number. I hit ignore, i don't answer strange numbers. They left an electronic automated message saying they had a refund for me of $600 some odd dollars. My hubby called back because it said i needed to verify my credentials. When he gave them the number they said they had no info in that number. BIG SCAM beware of strange numbers. Always check them out

This Person Said That They Was With The IRS And I Got 2100 Coming Back And I need To Send Them 200.00 For A penalty And That I Can Go Too Western Union Or Money Gram To Send It Too Them And For Me Too Call Them Back Once I get There. And They Will Mail me A Check For The 2100.00.

I got a call today too!  Based on all these posts and the fact I haven't filed my taxes yet, it's most likely a scam!  Not going to bother calling back.

Someone called me yesterday and said on a recorded message telling me  that I had a refund due to me . When I called back they said that I needed to give them $200.00 to get my refund deposited to my account with Bank of America. They knew my last four digits of my social . I asked them how they knew the info and they said that mistakes have been made on my returns and I needed to western union or  green dot the payment.  THIS IS A HUGE SCAM AND HOPEFULLY THE NEXT VICTIM WILL BE SMART ENOUGH NOT TO FALL FOR IT.

Message said they were calling from the income tax department. I had missed the call so I called it back.  An person answered the phone and I asked them what this was about.  Soon as I told them I hope they weren't trying to run a scam. After saying that to them, they hung up the phone.

I got this call n they say the same thing I didnt file correctly they want me to give them 190.00 n they will refund me 2173.00 ... i told them to take it out of the 2173.00 like they always do if you owe IRS money. they told me they sent me a letter explaining the procedures ,  I told them i didnt get it so please e-mail it to me....They hung up...i am  calling  them back n harrased them ....telling them to e-mail me the letter they keep hanging up i did this about ten times ....

I got this call Monday,and knew it was a scam, the IRS always send letters and if they called us why we got to call them back at a different number,I just knew it wasn't real.wow

They are calling my cell phone bill saying they are from the irs and have money for me..when does the IRS ever say they owe you money???

Just got a call saying they are from the IRS. I called back and he answered IRs.. Don't do it!! I just hung up!!

Report this to the BBB or Attorney General's office.  You can also report to the state Chamber of Commerce or Federal Trade Commission.  You can file a complaint on line at any one of these web sites.

Since when does the irs have  a 301 area code. What idiots we're dealing with.  Keep on your toes!  Always check out a company with the BBB before signing anything.

Today I received a voice message from a lady stating I had a refund coming to me from the irs. She left a number for me to call them back.  When I called an oriental sounding voice answered the phone by stating "irs".  I explained that I received a phone call from this number and was instructed to call them back.  He asked for my name, then put me on hold.  When he came back online he didn't say much and then hung up the phone. I AM SO SICK & TIRED OF STAMMERS I COULD THROW UP.  They need to get a real job instead of conning Americans out if their hard earned cash.

I just received the exact same phone call. This is a scam. They have all of my account info, ssn, date of birth, home address...but I didn't give it to them. How the heck did they get it?! And who do I contact to report the scam?!
Also, it is illegal for the actual IRS to state "IRS". for extra help from the ACTUAL IRS use: 1-800-829-0582

They called me today. When I answered itthere was a recording on that said i had a 2199 tax refund and that they needed to confirm my information.

They called and said it was the income tax department about an additional payment of $2000.00. So I googled the number and called my tax agent to find out its a scam...
