1. Smart One Energy is calling you repeatedly
2.  Smart One has not respected your request to be removed from its list
3.  Smart One is using Caller ID spoofing to prevent call blocking and screening
4.  Smart One is misrepresenting itself as calling from Washington Gas
5.  Smart One is claiming that it is Washington Gas and wishes to verify your account number in order to trick you into giving them your account number

I got call from some one and ask me about the Washington gas, I himg up on him, but still he keep calling me with this number (301-962-8181) what should I do?

The people or persons calling say they are affiliated  with washington gas.  That they are authorized to provide you with 10% discount.  This is a pishing scam.

Received two calls from this number.  First time - couldn't hear anything and assumed it was an automated call, so I hung up.  Second time,  a representative SUPPOSEDLY from Washington Gas stated I could receive 10% off my gas bill.  Sounded far-fetched, so I said "I'm not interested, thank you".  Representative said, "Why aren't you interested ma'am?", and I repeated my first response.  Again the representative asked me why wasn't I interested.  I then said, "I am not interested and I don't want to be rude by hanging up on you" and the representative responded - "Don't worry, I'll do it" and hung up.
Representative had a Middle-Eastern accent.

Hi!  This is a SCAM and the culprits are using some sort of Caller ID Faker.  This is the old number for Jahann and Sons and it has not been in service for a few years.  I've called Verizon to confirm this.

I got a call from this number, but i didn't answer. I googled the phone number and got this site. Thanks to everyone I know not to be curious about the call and answer. Thanks everyone.

Received several calls from these folks.  Asked for information in writing and was hung up on. Moved to my annoyance contact.

getting un-wanted calls on my cell phone from this number. My provider charges me for each un-solicited call, so I want them stopped!

he said our account was eligible for 10% saving every month without obligation using "smartenergy"
Basically he asked me to switch them as my gas supplier on my washington gas account.
I never heard about them before...may be a scam.. remember to say "No" so they cannot switch your without authorization!

I've been getting calls from 301-962-8181 on my cell phone for the last 4 days. I get about 4+ call a day. Nobody is on the other end and when I dial the number, it is a non-working number. This is ridiculous.

Falsetto male voice left a message on my answering machine - "F*%# you" - then hung up.

Keep getting calls from 301 962 8181. Almost everyday. I'm on the do not call list. Don't know what to do. Being totally harassed by this caller. I won't talk to them- won't give them any information! I have choice words for them. So- leave me alone!!!!

About 4 calls/day from this number. It has been saying "Jahann & sons" on caller id, and today it just stated the #.  No one says anything when I answer "Hello." I am calling Comcast now to see if I can block the call as per the previous writer's suggestion.  Thanks for the info.

got a call today.  no one answered when i picked up. i called the number back and says number not in service.

A Washington Gas Scam. An Indian accent tried a phishing scam.

I received a call from +301-962-8181 on my cell and it showed the call coming from Greece. I thought it was some glitch in the system because of the 301 area code. When I picked up the person hung up.

Verizon wireless lets you block up to 5 callers at a time free.  They stay blocked for 90 days, then the block releases and your number of free blocked calls goes back to 5.  You can reblock if you need to after 90 days.

I have been getting these calls for a few days, about 4-5 times a day.  Nobody speaks and when I call back it says it is not a valid number.  So annoying.

Several days in a row someone from this number - caller ID says "Jahann & Sons P" calls my number but leaves no message.  I answered today and someone (male) on the other end said "hello" several times - I asked what he was selling and he stated "that he wanted to talk to me about my Washington Gas bill" .  I asked where he was calling from and he said "SmartEnergy".  I asked him to remove my phone number from his list and not call again - he said he couldn't do that!  Asked why - I told him that I knew he was calling my number and hanging up. He hung up.  I am reporting this number as I suspect it is a scam as well.

Also just got two phone calls from this number.  Person had an Indian accent.  I asked what company they were from and if they were soliciting something.  She didn't answer and she hung up on me.  This is definitely a scam.

They've called twice so far and both times they hang up after we ask for the information to be mailed to us. We have not given any personal information. The phone number belongs to an Iranian carpet company in Kensington.

Just received a call from 301-962-8181.  The answering machine picked up after two rings, and the caller immediately hung up with no message.

Slamming attempt. They are not from Washington Gas but if you give them your account number they will switch your gas supplier to them.  It will still show up on your Washington Gas bill but under a third party gas supplier.  It may or may not be cheaper than  who your current supplier is.  Be careful because they often switch you without permission and use edited recordings of you saying yes to something else to prove you authorized the switch.  That may not be the case with this caller but just be aware of what can happen.

I've gotten several calls from this number over the past two days. I am also in the 301 area so I thought these might be legitimate calls and attempted to call the number back, receiving the same "number is not in service" message that others have reported. Also, I noticed that the way this number appears on my caller ID has changed several times over the past two days that they have been calling. I believe this is someone using spoofing software to display a name and/or number other than the one they are calling from, and is calling customers (and/or former customers of) Washington Gas using the phone number on file with their account. Obviously, do not give them any information, but blocking and/or reporting this phone number will do no good, since they will likely just start spoofing another number.

The caller is dialing my cell # multiple times and hanging up without saying anything. Frustrating.  I'm in the 301 area code.

Got a call from this number yesterday. Hispanic man, very hard to understand, claiming to be from Washington Gas. Told me I was so special for heating my house with gas that I was eligible for a 2 month discount. Verifiied my phone number (duh) and then claimed the account was in my name. The account isn't in my name so I told him I would call Washington Gas myself. He hung up:))
I have sent this message to Washington Gas CS to inform them and gave them this phone number to follow up.

Keep getting a call from this number.  Person with Indian accent.  Very hard to understand. Supposedly from Wash Gas.  Can verify my name and address but wants my Wash Gas account number.  Shouldn't they have it.  Very suspicious and annoying to keep getting the calls.  I tried calling back but the number is not in service
