This might be a US military member using a calling card (from their home state) or whatever, trying to call friends and family located in the US, while they (the military member) is stationed in Iraq etc.

I believe this is the phone system that calls to confirm your doctor's appointment either at Bolling AFB or Andrews AFB. Maybe it is voice activated, so if you don't answer, it does not leave a message. There are probably privacy rules related to HIPPA that say they can't leave a message saying they are confirming your appointment at mental health or wherever! If you receive this call in error, it is probably because someone has fat fingered their phone number in the online appointment calendar system so it is calling you instead of them. These are my guesses!

This number keeps calling my work number. Every other day for the past two months, there seems to be a phone call from this number. No message, even though our voice mail shows that the "caller" left a message (but a BLANK message). How do we make it stop??? Andrews AFB, you are certainly annoying!!! You should NOT be calling work phone numbers!

When I recieved a call from this number (301-981-7358), it was my library calling me to inform me the books that I requested is available and ready to be signed out.
For me, it is a good number.

Caller left a voicemail on my cell phone; however, it was my doctor from Andrews AFB leaving a message about some results. Appears to be a legit line for official purposes, not a telemarketer or harassing call.

When they called me it was just for a mustering exercise from the NAS Washington. They left a message but the call back number spoken(not on caller ID) was invalid.

This is a call from someone in the military calling from overseas. My husband is in Iraq and this is the number that shows up when he calls me. It's from the COMM Squadron at Andrews AFB. The active duty person calls on a DSN line and the the operator connects to your number. That way it's free and they don't have to pay for a calling card. If you know someone deployed or don't, either way answer it! That way at least they know they have the wrong number and don't think their family wasn't home.

This is a domestic number used by the Andrews AFB telephone exchange system. Trunk line is also correct in that it is a number provided through the base telephone system. The military has special leased lines. Similar to large office PBX systems where you have to dial 9 to get an outside line. However, the military system is a world wide system. Calls going off base to commercial phones are patched through the trunk which provides a commercial looking phone number. The military pays a flat fee for these lines and that's where not only overseas calls but long distance calls come into play. I've not heard of using a calling card but I've been retired for 10 years so it could be something new. When I was in, we could call a stateside base from overseas through the military system and be patched to a local commercial number. Same for stateside long distance calls. You simply call the operator at a base in the local you want to call through the military system and ask them to patch you to your desire commercial number. The calls are/were free of charge though some bases gave you a time limit. I'll also repeat that I'm not familiar with the calling card thing, it was not in play when I was on active duty but things do change.
Caller ID: 301-981-7358
Caller: Andrews AFB
Caller Type: Non-Commercial

Indeed, this is a domestic number overseas military use to access a US number and use a calling card at domestic rather than overseas rates. It does go to Andrews AFB. My niece uses it to call family here in the USA.

It is someone in the military trying to call you from overseas. This # shows up for some reason.

It could have been a doctors office- I think she is referring to a trunk line as a main outgoing number for an office or building- they all have their own extensions/lines, but that is the one that appears in your caller ID. This number showed up when a doctor from Andrews medical clinic called me to go over test results, but his call back number is different.
