So I spent well over 1000.00 at a fridge from Home Depot recently and got a call today from "Home Depot" offering testing on the water and responding to my question of "are you selling something?" three times with a solid "No". So I set up an interview after vaguely answering some of her questions for Sat. When she kept asking "will you AND your husband be there?" twice (reminding me of timeshare offers) I thought why didn't I just hang up... So I get online right afterwards (this all happened minutes ago) and find this and a couple other hits from googling "home depot water testing". Mad at myself, the water testing company and HOME DEPOT FOR SHARING MY INFO...I called back, asked what sounded like a teenager working a summer job the company name AGAIN to which she replied "Atlantic Water". I cancelled & told her do not show up at my door and she said ok and we hung up. I then called my Home Depot & spoke to the manager who said 1-yes, they are Home Depot by default..they are "contracted" to offer the high dollar filtration systems for any purchaser of a high end appliance to "prolong the life of their appliances" and 2-they ARE selling something. I told her I was disappointed at my information being given to basically a telemarketer and that their telemarketer blatantly lied to me by never mentioning her actual company name & lying about it being a sales call, infering it was related to my new fridge-she even asked how I liked it and how the delivery went! She apologized and now I'm just pissed about my info being passed on....they had our names, address and new what we'd purchased. I'm gonna stew on a letter to HD about it, which is rare but after a long day at work, I'm ANNOYED. Pass on the appointment....I GUARANTEE they'll find your water FULL of crap, I'd even BET on it....$$$$ later.

The usual scam is they want to come out to your home, do a free water test, prove you have bad water and hard-sell you on a water purification/filtration system costing $thousands. They may even offer a refund guarantee or some ridiculous warranty. People generally report great difficulty in getting a refund or exercising the warranty. You can buy equivalent systems for much less if you shop around.

Same thing happened to as to BJ. She called asked for me by name and acted like she couldn't hear me so she hung up. I also called the number back resulting in an automated message saying they couldn't take my call...good bye!

I got this as well. Also Mary Smith. Asked for me, then hung up immediately. When I called back, there was an automatic message saying nobody was available to take my call. I had that Home Depot water testing solicitation a long while back and tried to lose them then. No surprise they are trying again. But how annoying.

Yup, I've been getting the same harassing calls asking about the water quality in my house... They claim to offer free gift cards and gas points??
