Becky I had the same experience. Unfortunately, being the computer illiterate I paid $246.00. I was told that if I had any problems, to ring the given telephone number. I experienced a big problem,I was unable to excess my email. I then rang the phone number I was given. On ringing the number, I found that the number did not exist. People be AWARE, these people are scammers. How sad that there are people in this world who have no conscience whatsoever and their livlihood is based on deceit and corruption.

I would like your advise. I foolishly fell for their trick thinking they were yahoo company, only to learn much later they ( albionrims.com) is an independent company. I did allow them to remotely access my email account at yahoo and NOW regret it. I am usually very careful.
Now what should I do? Am I now at risk- bank statement, etc are in that account.
Should I change email account?
Am I in great danger, here/

I'm pretty freaked out right now. I fell for it and gave them my credit card, name, other email account name, and address. I thought it was wierd when they told me I had to have my bank authorize the transaction and since my bank was closed they said they'd call back 15 minutes after it opened since I wouldn't give them my account number!!!
I took this time to research them and alot of people are saying it's a scam. So I cancelled my credit card and my internet cuz I don't know how to deal with it and just wanted it to end.
Does it sound like I might be in any danger?
If so is there anything I can do?

Had similar experience....evidently there's an outfit called "Albion Global in N.C, making a living of us computer-challenged - some of wouthom are coaxed into allowinbg them into their PC s to alledgedly cure our Yahoo connection troubles.

How this outfit is allowed to continue this fraud without local or government intervention is puzzling. We need more people contacting authorities and asking their help.

Becky, my email was hacked so I went online to find a way to fix it. Unlike you I have NO clue who to turn to or what would be a scam, called Albion as it turned out...thought it was Yahoo from what Google brings up.
Phone:855-272-4029
When they were in my computer, remotely,I was told I too, have hackers from outside my email account.. all seemed fine until they asked for payment, and when I stalled about doing so all of a sudden they couldn't take my AMEX credit card due to various reasons processing it..hmmm...suspicions arise. Asked for echeck...no way on the checking account. Then he said he'd take care of the intrusion anyway. Unfortunately I find he may have been able to view everything open on my laptop during the remote visit which had a lot of personal data. Who did you contact about them or report to, and what came of that? I need some help and feel like a fool. And can only pray my account info is not in their hands.

I've just had exactly the same problem!  Being driven mad by problems downloading and uploading documents on the new Yahoo set-up and thought I was calling Yahoo technical support.

Somebody called Eddie Harrison (with an Asian accent!) showed me that there were at least 4 hackers with access to my PC and quoted me £450 to sort out the computer for 4 years.  When I said that our small business could not afford that sort of money, he eventually went down to £92 for six months!

I said I'd call them back and asked them to disconnect from my PC but after reading your blog I'm now really worried that they've inserted a virus into my PC. Can anybody tell me how can I find out if they have done this?  I'm currently running an AVG scan and nothing has been picked up so far.

Also, is anybody else having problems uploading and downloading documents on Yahoo?  If so, is there any way to sort this out?

Many thanks to anybody out there who can help!

I had a nice run in with Albion Tech Support Guys. Phone number 1-800-731-4928

I KNOW this company is a scam, out for your money.

I called them thinking they were yahoo support, for issues with a spam bot. I am a previous IT Tech Specialist and I can handle most issues myself, but I was having trouble with this "bot".

So I call them, this guy wants to remote into my PC. I let him. He starts all this DOS prompts, and tries to tell me there is a hacker inside my computer.

On the DOS prompt, he tries to type in >Hacker Found where he tries to switch the page quickly, but under "hacker found" the words "this command or prompt is not recognizable" pops up. SCAM!!

Then he goes back to DOS and types in ">more protection needed" Then I suppose assumes I would not know that it once again did not recognize the prompt the HE typed in and the response that it kicked back, same as before.

"COMMAND NOT RECOGNIZED, ETC. ETC."

He showed me the DLL.EXE virus and showed me how he could not delete it. It just kept popping back up! He could not help me! OH NO! right...  (Later I did the same thing he did and BAM I deleted it and did some other stuff)

..So

Then he tries to tell me about Office Depot who will charge 350-350 to remove this hacker and keep my computer for several days. Or there are these "PC" guys who can do it in 30-45 mins for only 200.00.

I play along and AMAZINGLY I get transferred. This guy wants payment and I told him, I don't have the money, then he can do it for a hundred without the year "protection and updates"

I hang up and quickly kill the remote chat. The guy tried to insert a DLL.EXE virus file into my computer, which I quickly killed off.

These guys are out for money. They hope peoples ignorance will cause them to go "Oh my God! A hacker, how much? Here is my credit card number!" and just in case you don't, there is a virus ready for you, so you will come back.

Trust me, stay away, I am about to start searching for legal action as far as corrupt business practices and the attempt to harm my computer.

And for the record...despite the fact they display the ACRBO logo on their website, THEY ARE NOT members and are NOT associated with that organization in anyway.

Their use of the logo is ILLEGAL and is a violation of law...they have been reported.

DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE REMOTE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER OR ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION.

If this is part of, or similar to, these oh so benevolent computer maintenance companies that also call us at random here in the UK, you might want to ask yourself some questions

Would you believe anyone, cold calling you, whose line is that they are getting reports over the internet on their servers from your computer that it has some infections

Can you believe anyone who tells you that these are infections and other things that even your virus checkers etc can't pick up?  And when you ask if one of them might be 'norovirus', seems OK with that?

And would you then let them persuade you that the very, very, normal system warnings and errors found in Windows Eventviewer are signs of problems so severe that you should give them online control of your computer and that you should pay them to let them do that?

If you do, you would be better spending your money on a pychiatrist

I received a similar call regarding a complaint that they received regarding my computer. They said that I had a pop up on my screen that I shouldn't have clicked on? This is frustrating. I am not going to answer my phone anymore. I have both a landline and a cellphone, luckily I don't get any scam calls to my cellphone, so my landline callers will have to leave a message. If they had got hold of an older lady or man, the person could easily have fallen for it.

I got scared a little, then logic set in and I thought How do they know about my computer problems, if any?! So total scam!

I have received a few calls from them.  The first they asked for someone by some random name.  I told them there is no one by that name at this number.  They then asked for my name, which (I am not stupid) I did not give them.  I asked who THEY were.  He did not tell me, but asked of my computer.  I told him I did not own a computer.  Obviously, I do have a computer.  It simply seemed to be the quickest way to cut that sales pitch off at the pass.  He seemed confused and asked a few more times before I informed him that I was to be removed from their call list, and that I was on the do not call registry.

(I do this sort of thing with any sales call.  TV companies - I don't own a TV.  The moment of dead air where they don't have a script to follow up with is ....well, special.)

The next call was a month later.  This time there was no introduction, just asking about my computer.  I told them again - no computer (and again) remove me from your list.

annoying and obviously scammy.

Does anyone know who we report violations of the "do not call registry" to?

They are an Indian InfoTech (IT) outsourcing firm that recently expanded into the US and appear to be using sleazy direct-calling as a way to expand.  I found this page:
http://www.expatriates.com/cls/13462167.html
and it says, in part,

"call me on 001-302-261-2616 or mail me -bpo@albion2000.com    Atul"

Perhaps someone would like to let them know of our collective displeasure?

Their website (http://www.albionpccare.com/index.php?main_page=contact_us)  lists the following contact info:
Albion Global Inc 75,
East Fort Union Blvd,
Suit C-166 Midvale Utah,

I received a call from this number today (July 13, 2011). It was an overseas call. They said they'd received a "complaint" about my computer from my ISP.

I kept asking what kind of complaint was he referring to, and he said, "for your computer" every time I'd ask him.

After asking him several times to be more specific, he hung up.

He called me on my cell phone, not even the phone my ISP has as a contact number (AT&T-who also has my home phone service).

The call was highly suspicious.

There have been 5 calls from this number within the past 10 days.  I have registered this number with the Do Not Call Registry.  There is apparently someone on the line the 2 times I have answered, but nothing is said, and they hang up.  I have spoken into the phone saying " Do Not Call", but the calls continue.  Is there anyway to stop this intrusion?
