This outfit claimed to be "Microsoft Service Center". Indian accent.  They called to warn me they've been monitoring my internet activities and found that I am downloading viruses every time that I go online.  They are extremely vague when you ask for the name of the company and their location.  Assume Pump and dump outfit, if not involved in outright ID theft.

Have been calling over a week, claiming they are from Microsoft. When asked his name, Co, and a call-back number several days ago, they hung up. Just called again, when asked the same, they gave me the name JASON SMITH (yeah right- with a heavy Indian accent,) he worked for Microsoft and gave this call back number.

Recieved two calls today saying I had serious errors with Windows. The person took me to the event viewer pointing out errors and warnings. He indicated that I needed to connect to them with www.ammyy.com. They would then help me through the process of correcting my machine. I didn't go through with it.

Same experience as other have posted. Persistent calls, echos & noise making the heavily accented voice difficult to hear clearly, requested I do certain keystrokes.  I told him I was uncomfortable with this but that my IT guy would come by next week and I would have him take care of the problem if I could have the callers contact information. At first "Allan" said we couldn't do this because only I was "authorized" to work with the computer because it is "registered" in my name.  I explained that I would be there with my IT guy--"Allan" relented and gave me this (302 262-9242) number.  I couldn't hear well enough to get the name of Allan's company, but he assured me they work for Microsoft as a contractor.
Note: I am an "old guy". My "IT guy" is the kid who lives down the street.

Just got a call from a very rude man who fed me the line about error reports being sent to Microsoft.   Had an accent.    I asked for his number and told him I would call back.  He said his name was Steve and I should call him at 1-302-261-9242.         Googled the number and got 800notes.   While I was reading some of the stuff here he called back talking 90 miles an hour.   I told him to shut up.   I started talking and he started talking fast and loud again.  I hung up on him.

I forgot to mention that Steven said that the company name was Apech an IT Computer Security Company. He also had a heavy accent and there was lots of feedback and echoing throughout the call and lots of background noise.

I received a phone call from a male who said his name was Steven and that my computer was sending out errors of some sort and that I needed to get to my computer and input a series of keystrokes so he could stop the errors. I told him that I knew he was a scam and to give me a number to call him at. He proceeded to give me the 1-302-261-9242 number.  After a few minutes when I had not returned his call he phoned me back again.  I told him that I did not want his service or help and to please stop calling.  He had the audacity to ask why?  I told him that I would inform the police of his call and have him put in jail.  He has yet to phone back, is there someone I can report him to?

Like another person stated:  They claimed to be calling from "Microsoft Support" to warn inform me they have been monitoring my on-line activities and found that you "have a serious virus."  They asked me if my computer was turned on and when I asked "shouldn't you know that if you are monitoring me" he began to get angry with me.  I told him I felt this was a scam and he informed me I was a scammer.  These people need to get caught and stopped.  I worry / wonder if they actually have done damage or received personal information.  Scary.

Prank Call
Victor, supervisor from Windows Support Department. Wanted me to run www.ammyy.com to correct problem with virus I apparently downloaded. Caller ID showed "999-910-0544". . Victor (as well as the man who spoke to me before him) also had very heavy Indian accent. The caller ID made me suspicious; however, the man sounded very convincing especially since I have been having issues with Windows recetly. I disconected from internet when he asked me to run programs and go to a website then found an excuse to call back later. Victor gave me callback # 302-261-9242

I have gotten 3 calls from these people. Each time as described by others from a male with thick indian accent telling me they are from MAC. I have asked them not to call but this has not worked. What can I do except report them at the donotcall.gov site? Today, I asked them for his number and got 302-261-9242.

I just received a call from a heavy accented male named JOHN WATSON.   As soon as I told him this all sounded scammy and asked for a # to call him back, he said 302-261-9242 and to make sure to ask for him that he represented Microsoft and same stuff they told others about virus and computer would shut down in a few hours.   PLEASE make sure that you google their number, this site should pop and beware.   I don't believe Microsoft would contact you.   Thanks for the advice!

I also received a call @ 2:32 on May 23 from some guy who said he was from Windows. The last post was very accurate about the background noise and you could not understand him (heavy accent...Dehli would be right). He told me something horrible happened to my pc but I couldn't understand 1/2 of what he said. I asked for a call back # d/t I was on the line with someone else at the moment. He gave me 302-261-9242. Someone googled it for me and found these posts that I am now adding to. Please be careful and don't give any info to these people and get off the line. God bless. jo

I have gotten calls over the past 6 months, telling me they are Microsoft calling and my computer is sending error messages. Thinking this is a scam, I finally asked for name and phone #, and where they are calling from. They are always males with thick Indian accents.  "Jack Williams" calling from New Jersey, phone # 302.261.9242.
He told me to depress the  Windows key along with the 'r' key and read off what it says. He said I have a virus, with junk files on the computer, and that this is the last day for the computer. "It will shut down in a few hours". He called back from a quieter line so we could hear each other. This time I noticed far less voices in the background. I asked to speak to his supervisor several times, and asked many times to be taken off their call list. A 'supervisor' got on the line; sounded like the same guy disguising his voice.
I explained I have malware and virus protection, and he assured me this is not the case.
Anyway, now I know to hang up on subsequent calls. Any action on this scam yet?

We received a call around 5:30-6:00 Pacific last evening. The caller used our name and told us that he was calling from the Windows computer maintenance department. There was a lot of background noise with many other people making calls and I could barely understand him between that and his accent. He said that a virus was entering many Windows computers and he wanted me to go to my computer and follow his instructions. I asked for his location and he said New Delhi. I asked what company he worked for and could not understand him, so asked for him to spell it. the closest I came was Ahpuro, but when I spelled it back he said no. He gave me this number to return the call at a later time as we had company, 302-261-9242.

This scam outfit is running a boiler room operation, which, from their accents, appears to located in India. They CLAIM to be calling from "Microsoft Support" to warn you they've been monitoring your on-line activities and found that you "have a serious virus." They'll ask you to depress keys on your keyboard in a certain sequence. That will bring up a list of errors your Microsoft operating system recorded. There are always plenty of errors on that log. None of them indicate that you have a virus. I didn't go any further with the idiots, who called back several times. I assume they want to install some sort of "malware" that they will then give you a price to remove, if you keep following their instructions. That's actually known as "extortionware." I called their number back a couple of times and got a scammer each time. I told him/her (they use both) I don't care about the virus they claim I have. I finally got off their list by telling them everyone in my house uses a Mac! ;~)
