I received a text message yesterday from this number (302-387-0046) stating "my father wants to rent your place for 10 days, email him at alanb33@hotmail.com with the terms and soonest available dates".  I did email dear old dad with no response, then I tried to call this phone number back and the recording says this phone is no longer in service, one day after I received the above text!  Some type of scam, but can't figure it out yet.....any other thoughts out there?

I got the same message about our vacation rental.

Same thing happened to me. Glad I didn't respond, thought it sounded a little weird.

Whoever it is  must be getting contact phone numbers from VRBO.  Problem is:  if you respond to the email they have your phone number and your email address.  You can do some damage if you have both of those.

Sorry, I don't believe I have anything available for the next 6 months!

I got this also.  Off vrbo.com. Alan someone called me from 415-590-9901 and wanted to rent my house ASAP.  His story sounded a bit funny.  Not sure if this is connected.

My phone number is on the Internet for offering various vacation rentals. O received a very vague text message asking me to send an email.

Great to know it was bogus. I had same text "my father wants to rent your place...."

I also got the same text message. I also think they got my contract info from VRBO.

Had exact same message on text.  Did send an email reply asking for more info from them.

Received the same type of text message. Must be some type of fraud. Wanted to rent vacation home for father but did not use the e mail message center available to use. Won't call on the phone,doesn't want to get involved with the "Federal DO NOT CALL ' law. Looking at the other complaints , this is no legit.

VRBO is what I use.  I've sent them a report about it.

Same thing.. Wanted me to email his father about my summer home rental. Must have come from VRBO site?

Received a very odd looking  text message from this number re the sender's father wanting to rent my summer home. Had a link to an email but I'm not going to respond.

I had same call and same experience

Odd text to my phone. I tried to text back and then called from a blocked phone and got a very odd recording. This is some type of forwarded number.
