I got a call from (302) 457-5242 this morning. The female caller identified herself as from Bank of America. She wanted to verify some information I submitted two weeks ago for a business credit card application. I was not comfortable when she asked for my birthdate and net income. So I asked her to give me a number to call back. She asked me to call (877) 665-5023. However, instead of calling that number, I called Bank of America directly. They forwarded me to their business credit card service. During the phone conversation, I was speaking to a male representative this time. I was using an internet phone and my connection was not stable, so the call was dropped during our conversation. Within 1 minute, I received a call from (302) 457-5242 again. It was the same male representative from Bank of America. So I am sure this is a legit number. I think this company might be some agency that assists all these banks verifying their credit card applicants. Hope this information would help.

This number called my office and said they were with FIA.  They would not proceed until I gave them my Billing Address.  She would not answer any questions about her company at all.  once I gave my address she immediatly asked for my SS# saying she needed it to put on my card account.  I have had the card for 6 years.  i told her I would not give her any personnel info, but she could mail the request, which is what my bank is supposed to do.  Never, never give info over the phone.  She immediatly hung up.  THis is a scam.  If this number calls you never give info out.  Tell them you will call your bank directly.

I'm a long time BofA customer and have recently applied for a CC.  This number called me to confirm some details.  I was able to confirm that it really was BofA calling me.  So this was a legit call.

I also had a call on my cell today. The odd thing is my wife had called BOA re reactivating a card and they asked for her on my cell. I explained who i was  and that I knew about the call the previous day. She then used the appropriate queries re my wife's birth date and her mother's maiden name to qualify me and discussed the card (I am a cardholder on the account too).
So definitely a legit call, but weird how they had my cell # down as hers. It is possible I had called them on this # several years ago and they keep the numbers?

Got a call today from this number. The lady said she is from BoA. I wasn't at home, so they left 866-297-4231 number to call back. What's strange, is that the lady on the phone said she is calling me back to discuss some details from our morning talk. And I never called BOA! And people on the phone that I called back never heard about me..

The same number called me today, I applied for a CC three days ago. The number is 100% legit an the company that called was also legit. This is the catch, once scammers find a company that makes calls to get information like this, the scammers can steal the phone number an make it show up on caller ID as if it were actually someone calling from that number but the truth behind it is, the number that shows up on the caller ID is actually just being used as a ghost number so you (the person recieving the call) will believe its in this case BOA, but in fact its a scammer calling from a totally different phone number.

I received phone calls from this number today on my personal and work number.  I answered one of the calls and the person identified themselves as Jennifer from Bank of America.  She would not tell me the purpose of the call and wanted me to "verify" my identity before revealing the reason for the call.  She asked for my billing zip code.  I refused to provide any information since I did not initiate the call and she would not disclose the reason she was calling me. Her response was she was sorry I was uncomfortable and that I could call BOA to confirm that they had called me.

I hung up the phone and immediately accessed my account online.  I did not have any alerts or messages.  I then called the number on the back of my credit card and spoke with a representative who indicated that there were no notes in the system to suggest that BOA had called me for any reason.  He also stated that if BOA called me they would NOT ask me for sensitive information.

I believe the call I received from this number was a bogus call.

I called BOA to have a transfer done and not only they didn't do the transfer, they reduce my credit limit from $32,600 to $11,600. So now I am at 100% on my limit. They didn't help me and they will lower my credit score.
BOA can file BK and get millions from the goverment, but forget about the good customers they have.
Thanks for nothing BOA..... YOU ARE LOOSING CUSTOMER AND I WOUNDER Y!

Lucy, BofA did the same to me. Although at the time I was considered a high customer, as my credit has taken a beating over the last year. If they didnt want me to have that limit why did they give it to me? Kind of annoying at the time. Although now they are working with me to pay the balance off. Gave me 2% interest and fixed payments for 5 years to pay it off. Which is exactly what I will do.

I wrote a letter to FIA credit card services in April 2011. It turns out that FIA was dropped by my credit union in Downey, CA a while back. They were the administrator of my credit union credit card (I think that's how it works). I think that FIA now is being serviced with BofA(?).

A guy called me today from 302-457-5242 and wanted to discuss new terms of my credit card. I have less than 3k to pay off and in my letter to FIA in April I had asked for reduced terms to pay off in full my debt. I got a letter from FIA later in April. They said no to my offer. However, today, BofA calls asking about my credit card and for personal info over the phone. Maybe FIA told them about my letter? Or FIA is a subsidiary of BofA? I don't know. In any case, I imagine they'll want to re-negotiate either my FIA credit card apr rate or the payoff which won't be in my favor at all...And btw, I pay over the minimum each month and with my tax refund will pay off the remainder.

When I called my credit union, they would not tell me who is the new FIA administrator and the credit card guy who called me to discuss my letter to FIA (though he never mentioned FIA by name) was sneaky sounding which made me think it was a scam. Both my credit card union and the sneaky guy make me think about how secretive our U.S. society is, how non-transparent our systems are, how people are inculcated and indoctrinated into being drones for these companies, how we are not given the correct information and how being truthful on all our job applications, credit scores, credit card applications is not what comes back to us in the form of sneaky credit card calls and the sharing of my data among subsidiaries. I opt out of stuff but you know, that takes up to six weeks. And if you remember in the old days, a bank could hold onto your check for five or more business days until the funds cleared and of course today, we're double taxed on our bank savings. I feel better after this rant.

Caller ID on my land line says: FIA Card Services N...
Caller ID on my cell phone says: Newark, DE
No message left on either, even though I am awaiting a response from Bank of America on a request to unblock a Line of Credit that was blocked in error. Didn't answer since I didn't recognize on caller ID. I had requested and prefer an email response anyway. And so as far as I know this was not even my answer. Probably a legitimate call, but based on the variety of postings here, they REALLY need to get a handle on the calls made from this number, and their customer service. I should be a consultant. How can a huge company not know about and/or fix such an critical problem. I thought they all had systems in place to record/monitor calls. Maybe they should actually use it and not just fake it to save money. It was our money that bailed them out, so we should have a say in how that money is used: "Improve customer service instead of putting it in your pocket. If you do that first, you'll have happier customers AND more to put in your pocket. What a novel concept!!" Instead of offering to be a consultant, I should be CEO!

I was contacted this morning by a rep stating she was from Bank of America asking me for my
employment and salary history to maintain my lines of credit that I have with them.  I told her I
was busy and to call back at 4:00 pm.  Instead, she called my wife and solicited the information
from her.  The alleged BOA rep totally disregarded my requests, went behind my back and talked to my wife.  My wife gave her the information that she requested disregarding my comments while she
was on the phone with the rep that this was a scam and not to give her any information.  Anybody
that thinks women are not capable of scamming other women is an idiot.  12-14-2010

I reported Bank of America to the Better Business Bureau for poor customer service and I got call from this number the next day. I didn't answer because I did not know the number, but a lady named Kim left me a voice mail regarding the complaint I filed against them and left me the phone number 866-965-1506 and her 5-digit extension of 75834. This was a legit call.

A friend informed me today that someone from this number called his cell phone today asking for me.  I have lived outside of the country for about 6 months and have no idea how BoA (the caller never identified his/herself as being from any company) or any other person/entity from Delaware would get his number to contact me.

Received a call from this number at home and at work.  I called the number and was told that it was currently inactive.  The recording gave me another number to call but needed an extension in order to speak with anyone.  The recording says thank you for calling Bank of America.  Sounds legit but without being able to speak to anyone, I can't confirm that it is.

Recieved a call from 302-457-5242. Caller said he was a rep from BOA and was responding to a letter I had sent in asking for an interest rate decrease on my account. He said he could not help me but offered me help through a "financial assistance" non profit company they work with who could help me lower the payments on all my credit cards. I said ok, I would listen to them and he proceed to put us on a 3-way call. Just as Daniel from (unknowm company) said hello, I was cut off. I immediatley googled the number and found it may have been a third party scheme BOA has to get your money through this "assistance" company. Oh, and they never called me back to finish the call. If you need help, find it yourself. I won't go any further is they call again. I'll just continue to write letters and call directly to BOA for some relief.
