I WAS JUST GIVEN THIS NUMBER FROM A WU CORPORTE OFFICE (720) 332-4148 ABOUT REFUND OF MY $35 FROM DOWNTOWN  27 EAST ADAMS CHICAGO ILLINOIS CHICAGO CURRENCY EXCHANGE TOLD MYSELF TO CALL MAIN NUMER REGARDING REFUND. BECAUSE SHE CANNOT OR  WONT TO CHANGE OR UPDATE INFO AND SHE PUT RECIEVER NAME WHERE MY NAME WAS IN ORGINAL FORM.  WHICH MAIN NUMBER PERSON SOUNDS BILINGUAL FORIEGN RUDE LIKE HER  AND ASKING FOR ORIGINAL FORM NOT GIVEN BUT CURRENCY EXCHANGE RECIEPT. POSSIBLE KNOWING SHE PERSON AT CURRENCY EXCHANGE  MAY HAVE USED CONFUSED RIP OFF BILLING TO CONFUSE CLIENT FOR POSSIBLE LATER RIP OFF.

We recieved a call from this number also.  The woman actually left a message on our voicemail.  Her accent was extremely heavy, so we couldn't understand what company she said she was calling from, but she was very clear about asking us to fax copies of our social security cards to an 800 number.  DON'T GIVE ANY INFORMATION- it's a scam!

Did not answer this number as I didnt know who it was on the phone.  Called back the number, it is a recording for Western Union.  Pressed 0 to speak with someone, the phone just rings and goes to an answering machine.  Called the number back 8 times, nobody answered.  I called Western Union Customer Service, the rep told me they do not have this number in their system, and to just ignore it.  I said I was concerned that they have my info, so she proceeded to transfer me to the fraud dept.  The agent from the fraud dept said he did not have it in his system and do to a fraud report, he had said he called it and it said "out of service" we confirmed the number 3x. At this point I was very frustrated, and wanted to speak to the supervisor.  After holding for 15 minutes, Spoke to the supervisor of the fraud dept, he head said he recognized this number and called it just to make sure, and got the same recording I did,  and it is a number from western union and funds were put on hold until I could verify a few things with me.  (obviously the prev agent misdialed the number)   I put in a complaint, that if you call someone to verify and putting the customers funds on HOLD in the mean time, you need to leave a MSG or if you don't, have a VALID number so when the person calls back someone answers.  Also make CUSTOMER SERVICE with Western Union AWARE of this number calling people.  I would of never known this number was legit, and my funds would of been placed on hold without any recourse on my end. It IS NOT a Western Union number. It is used by scammers to get your personal details. I do work for Western union and called them while I kept this person (called himself Marcello Mora) talking. He had a company name but did not know who to speak to. Western Union will only send transfers to individuals. And the DON'T call you. SCAM SCAM SCAM

Received two calls from this number at 5:20 a.m., they didn't leave a message nor speak when I answered the second time.

I am a Western Union Agent and I can tell you guys this is a fraud. This lady called me without knowing that I am working for Western Union so i made a fool out of her. Western Union will never call you to verify any personal information, period.

Any Western Union related calls (or so they claimed) begin with area code (303) is a fraud. I work for Western Union and this area code is on our fraud database for sometime now.

302-224-8011 is registered to Western Union Money Transfer Services.  This number is frequently used to verify the transfer of sums over $350 to foreign locations where the funds originate in the United States.

If you get a call from this number, and didn't use Western Union, call Western Union directly to verify that your phone number isn't being used without authorization.

I forgot to mention that the alleged scammer used the information from the ex-husband of a friend of mine, along with the phone numbers of everybody who received money transfers from him.

I received a call from this number 2 days ago, allegedly from a woman with a heavy Spanish accent who identified herself as Carmen (I forgot the last name).  "She" identified herself to be a representative from the fraud department and claimed that I received a wire transfer of $400, one of 26 allegedly unauthorized transactions from K.K. I also was told to contact the 1-888-985-7626 and gave me the extension.  I was warned that if I did not repay the $400 I received via a fraudulent wire transfer I inadvertently received, the police and the FBI would pay me a visit and I would end up going to Federal prison.  
Only after I got off the phone, and did some research via the Internet, did it occur to me that this may have been an extortion attempt.  A friend of mine got the same kind of phone call claiming K.K. did not authorize money transfers he in fact did, threatening her with time in Federal prison if she didn't pay up immediately.

Fraud Catcher- did you learn anything more?  The grandparent scam just occurred to my grandfather three days ago, I have heard from anti-fraud call centers that the same perpetrators who carry out the scam will follow up as any number of other parties who might be involved (FBI, Western Union, etc.), they can sound believable because being the ones who did it, they of course have inside details regarding the incident.

Sounds like they chose a functional, listed number for Western Union and tweaked it by one digit.  Then when someone wants to cross-check it, upon a single glance it looks to be correct.  302 is an area code in Delaware.  303 is Denver, CO.

I received a call from this number claiming they were Western Union, asking to verify my money transaction.  I hope that this number is indeed Western Union because they are supposed to reimburse money that was from a fraudulent check that I inadvertantly cashed...What a mess..If 302-224-8011 is registered to Western Union Money Transfer Services then why does it come up as a 303 area code when they call...I hope it's not another scam

I received a similar call from the same number, caller id says WSTRN UNION CO, but the caller on the other line barely could speak English. Kept inquiring personal info and he also seems to have some info on me, too. So, I hung up and called the real Western Union, who notify me that there shouldn't be any contact, from any rep in their company towards me, as any transaction I had with them was completed. So it might be a fraud...

I received a missed call message on my cell phone from this number. About 2 weeks ago the "grandparents" scam was run successfully on my grandparents. The scammers used my husbands information. Something very fishy happened at Western Union, because 3 times the wired money was given to someone using a fake identification. Now, I'm receiving calls from Western Union??? Was our information stolen or is something fraudulent happening at Western Union - or is this a coincidence?

I was on the phone with my bank when a call waiting call came in from this number : 303 224 8011.  I didn't answer and then received 2 more calls from the same number within minutes.  I ignored all three calls, and after reading the messages on this website, I contacted both my bank and my phone provider/carrier.  I strongly advise that you do not answer calls from numbers you don't recognize and report any suspicious calls to your phone provider/carrier and have the number blocked!  It's Christmas Eve for heaven's sake, and people are trying to pull scams..that's just sick!!

Got a call from this number at 4am Nov.26th. They asked if I'd wired money to India. I hung up.
At 9am, I recieved a call from Mastercard and they closed the account due to the odd charges. $2.45 to a christian charity and two charges of $245 to Western Union.

Seems to be part of a scam.  Some guy with heavy accent pretends to be from Western Union.  Contacted WU and they said not to give anyone any information.  They might have inside info or access to WU database.  Very fishy.  Be aware!

i agree with it's probably wester union trying to comfirm your number. i was on the phone with them and then all of a sudden i got this call, but no one ever said ne thing on the other line.

rec'v a call from 303-224-8011 at 3:15am on 10/21/08.  they claimed to be from western union wanting to verify info. And, noticed that same morning that there was money taken from my account. Is there anything that can be done to catch these crooks. The name listed above is the one who tried contacting me to verify info.

I received a call from this number on 10/22/2008 at 5:20 in the morning.  No one spoke, so I hung up and they called again two minutes later.  Again nothing.  That evening my credit card company called and asked about several questionable purchases that day.  All of them were frauds, one to a Christian charity in the amount of $1 -- apparantly to see if the card number was valid.  Then a larger one for $80 to a musical instrument company in Great Britain.  Then two for about $300 each to Western Union to arrange a cash transfer.  BEWARE if you get a call from this number!

call from western union with a heavy accent, asking about a money transfer charged to a cc ending in xxxx. i said i had not wired any money using my mastercard. citibank called four hours later reporting an unauthorized 250 cc charge to western  union.

I received two calls and we tried the number back and got the recording - I pressed in the name Smith to see if I could get someone and again got a recording and left my number - now after reading the above am even more concerned.

Received a call and they said it was Western Union and wanted to verify my e-mail address.  Since I just completed a transaction with Western Union by phone I didn't really think about it but now I wonder - do they
have scam artists working for them.   I went in and deleted absolutely everything in my e-mail account amd address book.

Got a call - woman kept saying hello, hello, hello like maybe she was trying to keep me on the line.  She then said she was Western Union and asked for Duneakey or some werid name like that.  I said she had the wrong number and she said - perfect, thank you, have a nice day.  I am calling my celluar carrier just in case they are using my number now and running up my bill - yikes!!!!!
