Got a call from this phone number today on my cell phone, in which when I answered it was dead air for 4 seconds and then hung up. My cell phone is on the federal do no call list. Even if this company (PDC) has a waiver regarding abiding by the do no call list, they are still violating other federal FCC and FTC and state laws. Per the FCC and State of WA (where I live), it is illegal to use automated dialers to call people and especially to do so to people's cell phone (like they did to me) whether or not the person's cell phone number is on the do not call list.

I knew I would be getting this phone call, right after I threw their unwanted junk into the garbage bin.  No doubt they will be back tomorrow.  Aggravating morons.

Got the call, same caller, I answered and they hung up.  If there is a live caller on the other end, that's rude.  Tired of this nonsense.

The call is just a follow-up over whether my new Verizon piece of junk was deposited on my front porch. the young man who brought it was just trying to make some money, it is not his fault that Verizon's arrogant dreck went directly into the trash, and that the follow-up call appeared on my caller ID.

There is only one reason to print a phone book, and that is to list residential addresses and phone numbers. Verizon in its equal parts of greed and stupidity fails utterly to give us the one thing we will use from their directory. Yes, occasionally we will go to the Yellow pages and/or to the business  pages, but only if we keep the directory in our house, and without the residential information  -- we toss the thing out. So I hope that all the businesses who pay to have their ads in the Verizon Yellow pages directory  realize they are wasting their money, and that they should stop buying space in the directory unless and until the jerks at Verizon include the information we want and will use the most. Everyone babbles about the internet, but it is not at all a satisfactory way to find residential phone numbers.

I don't want your stupid pointless calls that do nothing but fill my voice mail.
I don't want any worthless, ad-filled, archaic means of a directory left on my doorstep like somebody was trying to make ME be the one to throw it away.
Yes, I threw it away, not even in the paper recycling.
I THREW IT AWAY IN THE GARBAGE AFTER TEARING IT UP SO KMA!

IT'S 2014 YOU STUPID PHUCKS! I ONLY TOUCH PAPER THAT HAS US CURRENCY DENOMINATIONS PRINTED ON THEM!
STOP PUSHING YOUR AD GENERATING TACTICS ON ME!

Got this call the day after I received the Yellow Pages. Which was only about 100 pages, as opposed to the 30 lb phone books that we got in the 1990's.

After getting a call from "Product Dev Cor" and them not leaving a voice mail, then reading every ones comments on this webpage, I decided to plug 303-280-8689 into my call blocker machine.  The phone book just sits in my closet collecting dust for a year until the next issue arrives at my door step, the following year.  I use the internet for looking up numbers, not paper phone books.  Maybe the printers should consider having an opt-in/out for paper phone books.  Sure would save thousands of trees every year.

Seems like a telephone directory company, which I shockingly recently received some at my home and they went straight into the paper recycling bin. The losers are now calling to see if I received them? Let my answering machine handle the call which played the disconnected number tone at the start of the greeting, their robocaller hung up at the tone, hopefully my phone number was erased from their phone number database.

I believe these are pfishing automated calls. They want to verify which numbers have ACTUAL people who will answer. They may be selling those numbers as lists to other survey or telemarketing firms. While the company is legitimate with the phone book follow ups....their number can be spoofed. I got the "ghost call" today with no message...and the phone book actually was left here 5 days ago. My number is not in the phone book. It is on lists of gov't emergency contacts however, as all numbers now are. So, Laura could be correct. But still a message should be left or a person should answer if a called party picks up - otherwise it turns into harassment, not a survey! And if they call repeatedly it is a scam.

They should answer the phone. They called me om 11:59 am on May 24 and no message was left. When I returned the number it did not answer for four rings and I hung up as someone was at the door and ringing the door.

They should have left a message on the answering machine. I am on Do Not call list. I do not like such calls and if you are from the company please remove my number from the list.

Wow, I've not yet seen as many responses to any given phone number.

Received the phone book yesterday - into the garbage - and just got the call. I listened without picking up, to the female voice (sounded robo), asking me to touch a digit if I received, another if I did not, etc. I then blocked the number on a wonderful Panasonic phone that can block 250 obnoxious numbers. Yay!

While I am a Verizon customer I have no idea whether or not Verizon is affiliated with PDC. We don't know that until someone does the research. However, Verizon does, in their written agreement, have a clause about them working with third parties. It is a standard legalize way of stating that we have no way to prevent such transactions if we want their services. Read any software EULA, store contract, etc. and you will probably see such a clause. We have to rely on, in this case, Verizon's good faith in not dealing with companies that bother us. But that may be why Verizon digital voice only blocks and forwards a total of 20 phone numbers, which is rather pathetic. Let us not forget that Verizon makes money from selling lines to telemarketers, and money is always the bottom line.

Never answer a call when caller ID alerts suspicion. Even if you get dead air or a disconnect, their computer records that your number is a live one. It then remains not only on their list but travels to other companies' lists. Databases are continually sold and resoled.

My answering machine only says "you have reached a voice mailbox." Yes, that is most impersonal, but it is the least amount of information I can give. I tell friends, Dr. offices, etc. of that outgoing message so they are not thinking they got a wrong number. Anyone remotely legit will leave a message, and in the case of PDC sometimes someone not legit will reply. But at lease I've got the pleasure of knowing that their stupid phone book is where it belongs, and I'll not be receiving any more calls from them . . . at least not from that same number.

Good luck everyone.

This was a robotic, recorded message asking the recipient to confirm receipt of the "real" Yellow Pages (as opposed to the "unreal" Yellow Pages?).  Did not respond to this unlawful call.

Just received my Yellow Pages yesterday.  Go this call today and it said "This is Product Development Corporation. If you have received a phone call from us it is because we are delivering phone books in your neighborhood, and you were selected to take our product survey."

Started calling today and no doubt might hear from them again. Caller ID was 'Product Dev Cor' and never left a message. Way to cut off your own name and waste your time by trying to call again. I did see what looked like to me a pile of phone books under the mailbox where everyone gets their mail. It was there for a few days and no doubt a pile of soaked paper by now. I don't know if the delivery person was smart or doesn't give a crap because he/she doesn't get paid enough. Aside from this unverified connection, this call could also be one of many scam calls I get everyday just simply verifying that my number is valid so they can call under different numbers to try to get my info. By reading some of the comments in this thread, it's either PDC is a faulty company or they're faulty because scammers spoof their numbers and ruin their reputation. You decide.
