I just got a text from 909-9 sending me my PIN and security answer stating "as requested".  I don't recall ever requesting this information nor am I familiar with the PIN .. obviously a phishing scam.

It is a scam, called it from home phone (blocked) and listened to their message, they are requesting 16 digit card number, expiration date on card, and 4 digit pin number.  If you are foolish enough to give this to them, I offer my condolences.  Big Scam.

Ol' Jefferson Financial Credit Union wants a piece of me as well.  This is the second one of these I've gotten in the past three days.  And both have asked for different numbers.  The other requested number is  786 425 0042.

Received a text message, "customer issue american express, call 1-303-325-7300"
I called from a blocked phone. They asked for the credit card number, and there was no way to get to an agent, or to any other point in the phone tree, just "enter your 16-digit account number. This call is being monitored for quality assurance."

I got a text from this number "9099", but the callback number was for an unlisted number in PA.  It was supposedly from a bank with whom I do not even have any accounts.  Did not respond.

Received a text message @ 6:55 on Dec 14, 2009 from:

9099: customer issue, visa service frozen. please call 303 325 7300

The funny thing is, I ordered stuff from ebay, and I did not even use a visa card.  I suspected that it's not right because if there is some
kind of activity on a credit card account, I receive a "phone call" from a customer service.  It's a big scam!  When you call the number they ask for your 16 digit credit card number, and if you say "talk to operator", it continues the same message.  DO NOT RESPOND TO THE TEXT!!!

@let the beatings begin:

Your trends are pretty much on the money, except it's not only Blackberry users that are affected - I got the message on a Samsung Moment.

But I am in Florida and do use Sprint.

Same as most, visa account

tells me to call 303-325-7300

The people that have created the message and recording all this credit card information should be get a beating they would never forget.  This was not about to sucker me, but I have a grandmother, aunts, uncles, ect that may fall for it.  I want to someone get jail time and have to pay back with interest for what they are doing. I am not blaming Sprint but gee wiz how hard is it to see what device is sending the message and turn them over to the cops (like mentioned before, we put a man on the moon 40 years ago, now we can't track a text message????).

Trends that I have noticed, but could be wrong about:

1.  I have seen most people that listed a phone have a blackberry and/or recently started an account (had my account for years but just upgraded to a blackberry a few months ago)

2.  All seem to be sprint or nextel customers (nextel for me)

3.  Most of the recent ones I would assume to be FL numbers, the Florida west coast credit union thing

Message received today at 2:31pm:

9099: customer issue, visa service frozen. please call 303 325 7300

Scam Clue #1: Visa from which bank???
Scam Clue #2: All in lowercase
Scam Clue #3: Legit institutions don't send text messages to contact customers

ALSO - I've only been a Sprint customer for the past 6 weeks but ported my number of roughly 10 years from AT&T. I doubt that a company like Sprint will sell their numbers, but that won't stop a rogue employee from stealing information to sell it, and I'd put money on that's what's going on.

I will be forwarding the text message to Sprint and calling Customer Service (someone in a previous message - page 2 or 3? - posted the email address and number).  And if it happens repeatedly as others here have reported, I will also report it to my local police department.

Received a text about customer issue Visa.  I called and provided fake information.  The recording asks for CC#, Exp. Date, and Bank ATM #.  I called Denver PD to report but they would not take the report because I wasn't located in Denver when I got the Text message.
