These people are crooks. They do nothing . I actually used them for tax resolution. Did contact the IRS and I ended up paying the IRS from selling my business. I agreed to do that with the IRS . Ellis Penn charged me 2500 to supposedly moniter my account. So I ended up paying the IRS . I had a second account and they were supposed to assist in abating fees and penalties . After spending 5000 dollars they asked for 1200 to start the abatement . I still cannot understand the first 5000? They claimed ( karen Koon the alleged liaison handling my account . Had the nerve to tell me she s too exhausted to repeat my case needs. Which was to pay 1200 more dollars. Why did I need to Pay for account monitoring when I paid the IRS in full?

Unbelievable ripoff!
I'm hopIng you really stay away from Ellis Penn

This is all a scam and you should all know this. Michael Ellis is a thief and has been in prison several times for stealing funds from different companies he has worked for, identity theft and much more. All of this can be verified by simply doing an internet search. I would absolutely not trust this man with one dime. Please beware and do some research.

This number is owned by Ellis Penn, it appears that they have two locations, Denver, CO and Philadelphia, PA.  I went to the trouble to research all of these types of companies.  Names, addresses, google research, BBB research, and in some cases supreme court research.  Thousands of people hire these companies every month.  I tried to be as impartial as I could, ?just the facts.?  Some of them have multiple locations, and some of them have multiple names in the same location.  14 Linked reviews for all the companies are at the bottom of the article.

If you want to read the article, google ?ellis penn complaints? and scroll through the results until you see:  irsbacktaxhelp.wordpress.com and click, might be on the second page of results.  It will help spread the word.

Dude called today...wanted to talk to people who had retired from here or passed away.  When I told him that we had a CPA doing everything, he said he wanted to talk to to was "in office" I told him the CPA had an office here and did the stuff....then he claimed he was with the IRS and could help with loopholes that he said he was sure our CPA was not aware of....First off, we did not have a Tax issue and secondly he was so persistent.  When he saw he wasnt getting anywhere with me he said and what am I suppose to write in my file....I said "write some witch with  a "B" answered the phone and told me to shove my paperwork and never call here AGAIN."  I am file a 3949a with the IRS!

The business is owned by Michael Bower Ellis.  He started as Mackinaw Financial, LLC.  Changed to Mackinaw Consulting Corp. (Told people the name was Mackinaw, Inc) and just started using Ellis Penn to sell tax resolution services.  He tells people he's an enrolled agent.  I called the IRS to check that and he isn't.  He's not properly licensed with the state as a telemarketer nor has he ever been since being in business.  Please report unethical matters to either the Colorado Attorney Generals office (telemarketing division) or to the IRS if he has claimed to you to be an enrolled agent.  You may file a form 3949a with the IRS.

You can file complaint with the attorney generals office in Colorado against telemarketers.  Please do so.  That is the only way to shut him down.

Call your bank and dispute the charge as no services rendered and no authorization given if in fact you didn't authorize the payment in writing.

File a complaint with the attorney general's office and BBB separately.  If Mike Ellis claimed to you he was an enrolled agent he isn't.  We called the IRS to confirm this and they have no record of him ever being registered as one or currently registered as one for that matter.  File an IRS form 3949A.

Continually calls me at work throughout my day claiming my place of employment has a Federal Tax Lien against it.  Bull! This last time I told Mr. Quillen to call here no more or I would report them to the FCC for harrassment.

Only the insane would keep responding to "He's not at this number," and "Only through postal mail," with "We'll call back later," and expect a different result.

Yet another attempt, yet another failure to identify themselves or use postal mail for financial contact.  Different voice this time (male), and simple "Thank you" and hangup after being rejected.

"Tax matter" solicitation, and the woman laughed at the notion that accounting is not available on the phone, only postal mail (paper trail).  Tough, as that's the answer they'll get every time.

This firm called trying to get business from my husband and I for tax relief reasons.  They have repeatedly called, bordering on harassment.  We've told them we do not need their services as we have a tax attorney but they are almost Gestapo in their sales tactic.
