Love your response, Badge!!! Couldn't have said it better myself!  I got an email from these jokers 2 months ago and laughed my a** off. But just to be a good citizen, I called the real Holland & Hart, LLC and made them aware of the scam and forwarded the email I received to their legal dept.  I sincerely hope they find the means to catch these thieves, and SOON!

Its a scam....  My wife got one also.  Last year they tried to get me, same scam different people.   I laughed at him (middle eastern accent)  and told him to F___K OFF.

I have received the same email from a Sean Hudson a Senior Attorney with Holland and Hart Associates. They have my current address, phone and ss#.  They threaten legal proceedings due to a delinquent, fradulent bounced cash advance payments from American Cash Advance. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CASH ADVANCE!  I do not know how they got my information. Sent them a "stop and decist" return email. Sent a copy to American Cash Loans CS and the FTC. No one has replied. They used the phone number 254-659-8002 in their email. I have not called the number.

Jeff Foster same word for word threatening e-mail different law firm Allen and Overy same amount of money 11958 6 EFT's. I about died ! Til I read all of these.

I just got the same e-mail word for word with the law firm Allen and Overy. I damn near had a heart attack ! His name was Jeff Foster  Senior Attorney. I looked him up and nothing there. So he changed his name  pass it on ! I did not repay the loan but this is why and it has been two years. Calls started before loan was due. This was a sense of relief and will be contacting who ever I need

I've been receiving these calls for almost 2 years now but to have all my personal information in these emails really upsets me. I wish they received electric shocks every time they sent one out!!

I just got an email and they have been calling my phone for a month now, I told they my sister is a police officer and they hung up, but today is the email.  I'm going to call my sister and see if i should take this to my poliuce department

These people prey on people who don't know the facts or their rights regarding Debt Collectors. This is indeed a scam. These people are actually from oversees but patching in to US phone numbers all over the globe. These people have accents and are very abusive when they call. It is sad that they have social security numbers. Just protect yourself by having your credit monitored.

In the meantime, the BBB continues to remind consumers of their rights.  Collectors cannot:
?call before 8am or after 9pm
?contact your friends, family or employer
?inundate you with calls
?threaten your reputation
?threaten you with arrest

The BBB also reminds consumers that collectors, when asked, are required to provide written documentation that substantiates the debt.

While consumers should accept responsibility for their debt and use credit wisely, they should never accept harsh or abusive behavior.

I got the same e-mail today, it completely freaked me out.  I have also received phone calls from this idiot and he is so rude.  I hung up on him several time.  He used my 10 year old sons name, but has my social listed.  It is crazy how these people can get all of your information.  I am glad to know that others have gotten this.  Thanks for all the posts and making everyone aware!

I'll lay money they're from Jamaica or the West Indies....notice the common names they use? Adam Thomas, Mike Johnson, etc.  This is a common tactic of these Caribbean offshore a-holes.

I did the exact same thing! Threatened that legit officers of Holland and Hart would be calling him back! Mine was Adam Thomas.  Have you noticed they use very easy to remember names?  This is a tactic used by many offshore scammers located in Jamaica and the West Indies.

I just received the exact same email this morning...different name and number but exact same wordage in the email...with horrific grammar and sentence structure!  Don't worry, I researched this thoroughly and this is a scam that has been reported many many times to the FBI, IFC3, and other govt agencies.  If you applied for anything financial online, this is how they get your information such as SSN, phone, address, etc.  I contacted Holland and Hart, and they told me there is a slew of scammers out in cyberspace using their law firm name fraudulently.  Rest assured, NONE of these people work for this firm and i am quite certain they are located off shore in the West Indies.

I posted my name as Kimbo because that is what these people who don't speak English call me they can't pronounce my real name, can you say SCAM? I was eating dinner one night out in vacation with my family when I received an email from an attorney named Adam Smith, stating if I don't respond ASAP they world have police at my door ready to arrest me. I was scared to death. I am the single mother of a disabled child, I would do anything to protect my situation . I couldn't eat or sleep for days, I had no accesses to a computer or internet. I wants to end the vacation and get home to address the situation . I realized this was a fraud , and I am nor worried about Holland AndHart , but the email about gave me a heart attack. I filed a complaint against them with the state attorney general 'a office division of cyber crimes. I am more upset that they would pick innocent hard working people to prey on, but they are ruthless criminals with no scruples . Please report these people if you get their threating email . Let's stand up to these punks!

Just received the same email, senior attorney Patrick Bell from HollandandHart Associates (and that is how it was typed int he email) as I am reading the grammer is worse than a 3rd grader. They refer to the attorney general as attorney journal.  Are you serious, but they have the correct address and ssn!!! Which is a tad scary these days.

The Government has your Social Security number on hold! I've seen that. They take a box of Captain Crunch & cut it up to make a little jail out of it. In goes the card! I got an email from mike johnson from holland and hart that says iam being prosecuted for recieving funds in a bank account and not paying it back.. that my ss number was on hold by the government, what the hell first I have no bank account 2nd I never got money from anyone. What is really going on and what can I do about this iam scared to death.

Yea I'm gonna whoop Adam smiths a** I can't take the harassment it's bugging me out, I ask where was court gonna be held and I called the sheriffs dept. they said if someone has debt it won't be collected that way and it's a fraud.

By law they have to give you 30 days but if you ask for proof of the loan such as the original loan receipt that shows where and when it was taken out and the amount and your signature to show proof that you took the loan out then they have to send you that first then from the day you get the letter from them you have I believe 30 days to investigate and make sure that the money they supposedly put in your account was actually done but if they don't send it to you within the 30 days when you request it then I believe that they can't charge you because of no proof.  I would send a cease and assist letter telling them to stop all contact with you that you will only accept paper documents which you are requesting full proof of the original documentation of the loan from the original loan company with all the details that are required by law to show proof of ownership of the loan

You can file complaints with the Cyber Crimes Division of the FBI..

File reports with the FBI, your state attorney general and Department Of Justice,CFB,FTC & FCC..

Just got the same email from mike johnson. First the grammer in the email was elementary at best. That was my first red flag. The phone number in the email for mr. Johnson was a magic jack phone number in Indiana, I called the number and the law firm is based out of Uthah, I googled them and tried to call them but they closed at 5pm. And finally the email was sent ftom a gmail account. No law firm would be using gmail to conduct business.  I will be calling the law firm again in the morning to wsrn them that their name is being used fraudulantly. But I have no doubt this is a scam. Whats scary as hell is that not only did they have my email but they had my home address and home phone as well

I just got that exact email and started a google search before doing anything about it. Makes me uneasy knowing they have my SSN.

I just got the EXACT same email. The email address it was sent from is lawyer.restitution1@gmail.com. I have had these people call before (several years ago) and almost paid them several hundred dollars before I came to my senses and googled the number and found out it was a scam. Luckily enough, I was able to shut down my debit card before they could take any money out of my account. This is the first time I have ever gotten an email version. I hope these dirty b*****ds rot in hell!!!
