The call was a machine telling me to press 1 to speak with someone on how to lower my credit card interest rate . So I did just to get my number off there list . But the man was very rude and hung up on me . When you dial the number back it comes up that it is out of service .

I think this company uses many ph#s over a period of time. I keep track of all my C/ID listings. I've received suspicious calls for the past year & half under 954, 904, 850, 305, 407 & even 000 or so I've researched so far. They always have some spiel about trying to get my personal information. I usually tell them that I'm on the do-not-call-list & to remove my # from their list & when they call back I tell them that I've reported them to the FTC for donotcall violations. Report them to the Federal Trade Commision or the FBI. Report all the #s. Yes annoying, though if we don't fight back we're part of the problem not to solution.

They leave an electronic message saying this call is for "ex husband" - if you don't pick up the phone i will assume i have the correct number.....(hello???i'm not home - you just left a message on my answering machine)

I dialed 1 and they said I could lower my cred card interest rate. I told them I did not have any credit card OR any debt for that matter and they promptly hung up.

I get a lot of calls for car warranty too.  I tel them I have a 1994 Nissan Pickup with 200k on it. "Sure, I'll take a warranty"  I usually laugh in their face and hang up.

I reported these scammers to the "Do Not Call" list (what good that will do)
And then put them on my block call list with the other 30 calls of this sort.
I have a block number feature on my cable telephone service.

I won't get a call from that number again!

I answered and "strung along" the caller, trying to pry info out of him. He's says he's selling lower interest on credit cards. After some probing, he tells me he's with Financial Services of Atlanta. I suspect he's just trying to get credit card numbers. No doubt it's a criminal activity.

Caller ID said 305-358-7493 from Miami, FL, I answered there was no one there so I hung up

When I was able to get a person they have told me in the past they are "credit services" out of orlando I believe.  They claim they call on behalf of visa mastercard.  The calls have come in from this 305 number and also often from an area code starting with 0  like 062.  These people are clearly just blatant outlaws scoffing at do not call etc.  Some internet research shows a name similarity to an outfit in florida that was stealing from people by charging their credit cards after selling various credit protection products etc.  I called my state atty generals office and they basically said it was not a high enough priority - so I would not hold your breath for the Feds. I think the suggestion above where you act like you are interested or something and then talk to them for awhile and waste as much of their time as possible until they figure out you are messing with them is the best you can do.  I start by acting like I am glad I found out I only had one more day - then they act like they know your payment history  etc  at some point I go off into a lecture about how can they have any self respect working for crooks and they go away fast.  That might be enough to get them to take your number off if it wastes their time.

Yea i just called it back and someone answered and said "i dont know this phone is doing some strange things"...yea whatever....

Hey people, get use to it! I pressed 1 and actually talked to a live person named Genie. The first thing I asked was the name of their company and she hung up on me. I then filed a Do Not Call violation complaint with the Government. All they will do is sit on their fat bureaucratic butts and claim they can't do anything about it because I didn't have the name of the company.

With this kind of Do Not Call enforcement, the list becomes worthless. Too bad the IRS isn't this incompetent, or I will stop wasting my money paying taxes to support this kind of inaction.

who is selling our residential numbers? after i have gone to the trouble of having an unlisted number, i still get these inane callers!!!- why do we have to pay extra money in order to not be harassed by these a**es?

just got that call, pick up to hear a recording that says something like "don't be alarmed but this is your last chance". I have gotten a "last chance" call for months. I pressed one to speak to someone to tell them not to call, but since I've done this before in an angry way, i decided to try something different, based on advice I've gotten on other sites. I just start talking in a baby voice and every now and then sing a little burbly song. Eventually he hangs up and i feel happy, not angry! I've heard that eventually they stop calling if you keep doing this.
PS I also called the number back and it says disconnected. That alone should tell everyone this is a scam.

called-no message.  i *69 my phones.  these things are a bit of an annoyance.
