My email came from my same area code (940)
I blocked my phone number so they couldn't see who was calling. It rang for a few minutes then went to a voicemail saying "to leave a voicemail for ___silence___. After hitting a random key, the recording said "to start a fax enter 1 now" - or something like that.
I will call again during normal hours. It's 3am now!

I also wanted to say I don't think it was my friend after all. He is the only other person that still uses our old area code. I assumed it was him. If it was, I'm sure I'll get an earfull tomorrow!

So I'm going to wait then try to figure out who owns this number.

One more thing. I believe TMobile and AT&T have a place on their website that you can enter a phone number to see if that number belongs to another TMobile or AT&T customer. They started that when they started giving friends and family (or any other person that has service with them) free calling. So if I had AT&T, all my calls to any other AT&T customer are free / don't add to my minutes.
You know what I mean?
That's a good way to check what service the person or company uses. It could narrow it down, at least.

ITS NOT TMOBILE! It's MOmail
It's a new email service (legit).
The number in front is the phone number they're emailing from.

IF YOU REPORT IT TO SOMEBODY- research MoMail.
I THINK my friend sent me an email from momail. His phone is shut off so he may have tried it out. I just  emailed him to ask if the email came from him. It was only minutes ago so he hasn't responded yet.

I thought the email came from him since it started with his cell number in the format like 1-555-555-5555@momail.com.

The company is pretty new to me so it may be to everybody else.

Even if the text or email is from MOMAIL, they may be getting viruses and spyware. I think the company is from Sweeden. A lot of viruses seem to come from other European countries like Hungary (or places close to Hungary). They may be trying to attack the new service before the new service even gets started. It looks like momail is or could become a great company and save people a lot of money down the road.
They are using a VIRUS service called IronPort (now owned by Cisco).  SO THAT MAY REALLY BE
TEMPTING HACKERS.
I suggest getting credit cards if they really have the first 6 credit card numbers. Some credit card numbers can be easy to know (like 6011 is Discover's first 4, some Visa cards start with 4342. (Notice I wrote "some Visa")
This is a pattern I picked up back in early 2000 or 2001 when I was entering people's info into our mail order pharmacy's database. We entered credit card and check info so the pharmacy knew to fill the patient's medication. It was small company back then so there were less than 20 people entering the info. We were all very trustworthy and didn't have time to memorize numbers.
If you ever used a small company, started a new account with a small bank or used any payroll advance service (online or in person), I would suggest changing your card and bank numbers (especially with payroll advance companies). The most important info about CCards is that the first 4 digits are easy to guess (especially Discover). If somebody figured out some basic patterns, they could easily remember the next 8 within a matter of seconds. Think about it, another set of digits on most cards could mean something else. (I used to think all Visa cards with 5084 on them meant the bank was opened in a particular state or were for BOA accounts! That ended up being wrong.

Back to the point...
AS FAR AS MOMAIL GOES, you could complain to somebody but it shouldn't be Tmobile. I thought tmobile too before looking online for "momail". If you run a google search, don't let google change your search results to TMobile. There are a few Momail articles online. The one I read was http://www.cnbcmagazine.com/story/thinking-outside-the-inbox/367/2/

If you're not sure who to report the problems to. Maybe the phone company that owns that phone number (not TMobile) could help. But it may be difficult to find the company.

I KNOW the U.S. government has a special division for online fraud/ abuse. You can find them online. Knowing what I know now, I'd start there and the FTC. They may only be federal but once your on the main .gov website, it should be easy to find. Since American companies can't help much - it's not and shouldn't be their responsibility. I know people don't like to hear that but if you think about it,  every restaurant shouldn't be responsible for knowing anything about how other restaurants do business. You wouldn't ask Wendy's how McDonald's does business or complain to McDonald's about problems you had at Wendy's.
That's bad analogy. Sorry. I'm trying to help explain the reason companies like TMobile shouldn't be called.
BUT the US GOV can help.

Again, I hope this helps.

Ditto here:  Just noticed a TEXT MSG from earlier in the evening 1/15/11 @ 7:18pm:

Using the phone's Options button, I got these "Message Details":

Sender 3787
Message:  Text
Type:  Personal
Message Center  +1-404-455-0010 (I think 404 is Atlanta(?)
Text Msg says:  384-339-0000@tmomail.net / / Your Emerald Card Starting with 511165 was frozen. Call 1-305-400-4772.

---------

(I added hyphens in the numbers to make them easier to read.)

First off, when T-Mobile sends a text msg., they don't look anything like that, so right away I was suspicious.

Then I noticed it was .net vs .com, unlike the T-Mobile website.

Then I noticed it says T Mo Mail vs T Mobile.

Last but not least, I don't have an Emerald Card & never heard of Emerald Cards & don't even know what one is.

So I googled rather than calling those crooks, & found this site.  More than happy to add to the mounting evidence of this SCAM.

As others have said, BEWARE & DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!  DO NOT CALL THEM!  They may just be sending out these text msgs to RANDOM cell #'s hoping to reach "live" numbers.

PS:  This is the 1st time I ever received a text msg like this.
