Someone from this number continues to call my elderly mother and asks her to verify her personal info and SS number.  She refused to give personal info to them and asked any information be mailed to her. They said they could not without verifying her info. She would not give them info, and they called her three times in one day. If they were legit, they would have her info and have no problem mailing any requests. Beware

called me saying that my insurance company betrayed me to them; made me very uncomfortable asking for my insurance identification number on my medical insurance card,my birthdate, my social security number, and for every bit of my financial information. i sent them no proof of any information though they told me to do so. It may be o.k. to send a solicitation by mail. It is not o.k. to call people and request such sensitive information. It is o.k. if the consumer oor a family member or a social worker initiates the call. People are alerted to not divulge their personal and financial information--yet this company calls from Florida--company initiates the call--not good. I insisted that i am well-educated,well-read,well-informed-that i learned much about the social service benefit system--both private benefits and publicly funded benefits-i know the complex benefit system well--social service company did not understand and would not end the call-they wait for you to hang up--then they call exactly a year later. They keep you on their annoying calling list just incase your financial situation changes or until they wear you down. Pardon my poor typing--i do not have full dexterity in my fingers. They do not offer to sign a privacy agreement.

Do any one here have Care Improvement Plus? This is the company my Grandmother is with and when I called them about SS Coordinators they told me they were a legitimate company. But the information they are requesting is more than Care Improvement Plus did. They are wanting titles of any property she owns and titles to cars. Also copies of almost every personal document any person has. C.I. P. says that they do business with them and that the reason for requesting so much information is that they try to give an array of help to the companies clients. It all still seems wrong to me.

I got the same call and told the rep that I would be contacting my medicare insurance provider to verify. He told me that was okay and gave me his number and extension to call him back directly. After calling my insurance company, I was able to verfiy that he was legit. I don't know if the person that called you is, but if it's the same company your AARP should be able to confirm.

They are a company that is apparently associated with the AARP 'Medicare Complete" health insurance plan which is run by United Healthcare.  When I happened to actually be here to take their call, they mentioned the Federal Government's 'Help With Paying Medicare' subsidy program.  So happens, I know about this program and checked into it thoroughly.  It's a legit program, and if you qualify, you can get the government deducts from your Social Security Retirement or Disability benefit rebated.  In order to qualify, your income needs to be below a certain threshold.  It's a good program, helps needy folks out.

This company is apparently hired by the insurance company- United Healthcare- to make sure folks on Medicare know about this program so they can apply and get the benefit.

I told the caller, 'Yeah I looked into that but my income is too high, I don't qualify.'  So he said, "Oh, OK, as long as you are aware of it, we wanted to make sure you were getting that help if you needed it."

As far as I can tell, that's what it's about.  I assume they could help you apply if you needed that help.

Since this is coming through United Healthcare and is related to their AARP Medicare products, I assume they are ONLY calling people who have this AARP-branded health plan.   Since you are an existing customer of this health plan, the company can call you to discuss business related to your plan.

This company may also provide similar services for other companies providing Medicare health plans.

Ok so first of all if you would of just done a little research you would of found that on your mothers health insurance website there is information on social service coordinators. Second of all who ever you spoke to at aarp is probably just as dum as you because all she had to do was simply ask a supervisor. Now your going to contact the government lmaoooooo dont you think they have more important things to do then listen to someone who cant even do some research. instead of talking crap over a computer you can actually help your mom get some help.  Here since you cant do it your self try this link.

https://www.securehorizons.com/portal/server. ... 99_255_2793_43/

ohh and if your wondering AARP, Secure Horizons and United Healthcare is all the samething.
Thank you and heres a hint try to be smarter next time :)

This is a huge scam. I have called the numbers back after my mother gave them her personal info, the first person I spoke to was named Robert @ 888-528-9488. When I asked how the company helps people he said look it up and then hung up on me. The second call I was given another number "800-804-9705" to call to speak with someone named Russel who then proceeded to tell me to contact AARP directly and ask them if I didnt believe him. I called AARP spoke to a very nice lady named Mary who told me it was indeed a scam as AARP or any company working with them would NEVER ask for a soc. sec. number. She then filed a complaint and fraud alert for me and told me to contact the police and two goverment agencies as well. She thanked me for the info as it will help others to not be scammed.

These are very rude people folks...very rude and they are just out there trying to make a living but do not know how to speak to real people. Most likely the cause is because they are wet behind the ears...and are used to pushing buttons. We are not robots ...we are real people . They need to be reported, and even fired for treating seniors with such words as Lots of Luck! when you tell them you are keeping your same insurance .
They cause un- needed stress!!!

My mom just got a call from them today. At the end of a long line of questions the caller asked for her full SS# and she gave it! It took me over an hour to find out that this company is who they say they are.

We live in trying times, with many scams perpetrated on low income people as much as the fraud brought upon higher income individuals.

The procedures used by this legitimate company are used by scammers all the time. For example the caller ID that leads the called person into thinking it is a Federal or Local Government Agency. I thought this call was from Social Services. That right there confused me! The procedure used by the caller didn't help in calming the fears of the call-e that leave her wondering why she just gave out her SS #! It also sounds from the number of posts that it concerns a lot of people. Both from the callers AND the call-es!

Maybe if Social Service Coordinators changed their procedures a little they would be able to help a lot more people.

Received a letter from this place a few days ago asking for copies of my father's SS card, Medicare card, Last 3 bank statements, state ID card, proof of income etcetera. She even ask for his daughter's number so that she could contact me. She spoke extremely fast and became irritated when I ask to many questions. Telling me that President Obama passed a law requiring all seniors to receive monies back. Well I told her that President Obama and Michelle would have to tell us personally before we send anything through a fax or mail. Please be careful seniors warn precious love ones not to reveal any sensitive information to any at the door or on the telephone. It is just another way to try and confuse our senior citizens into doing something they may regret down the road. This is the fax number that we were given 1-877-8718432  Be careful!!!!

Because caller ID is included in most basic plans nowadays...Why would it even matter...Most Medicare recipients have worked all their lives and should be entitled to some choices.

Then why does your organization randomly call people and leave no message?  If they are truly about helping people I would think that a message to call them would be appropriate.

This company is 100% legitimate. They have a staff of over 500 employees in three locations that specifically help eligible people apply for and obtain many  social services (i.e. SSI, SSDI, medicare benefits etc). This company is all about outreach to the community.  I agree it is always important to be careful because you never know who is actually calling but anyone who says this company is a scam has no idea. I am new to the company and have sat in on many calls where the case workers patiently facilitate the application process on behalf of eligable applicants.

Employees working for this company have recently been incarcerated for a Medicare fraud infusion therapy scam. If you are a Medicare beneficiary or have a family member who is, do not give this agency any personal information about you out no matter what excuse they have for calling you. There is still a federal investigation ongoing in connection with this agency, so please be careful and keep your Protected Health Information safe and for your eyes only just as you would do with your SS card, credit cards or driver's license.

I contacted my Anthem Blue Access company. The co that is in charge of my insurance. Spoke to a supervisor after getting several phone calls from these people. She says they are legit and can help people that are burdened by the 96.40 deduction from their monthly check. She said it is a lenghtly process and only for the people that are elegible for help with their insurance. I explained to her that strange people calling the elderly and wanting SS#s and bank statements is down right scary and if they would change their tactics they may not get so much agrivation from people. With all the scammers out there today it is impossible to know for sure.

They are legit. But contracting so be patient with the rep. - they are just doing their job with very limited information and huge expectations.

If you have a family member who is truly low-income and is dealing with large co-pays, the reward to get assistance is well worth the risk for identity theft.

Not sure who would want to steal the identity of a medically needy senior on social security with no assets ;)
