(309) 200?1642 ? - Another SCAM ? This time from a foreign sounding man ? Has extremely thick accent -  Says his name is Jeff Thomas -  Calls to my job, claiming to have charges against my social security number ? Threatening if I don?t return the call, with my attorney?s information, then all they can do is ?Wish Me Good Luck?.  Do not give these people any information.  They are trying to SCAM money out of you, any way they can.  They get their information from online Payday Loan Sites.  Big SCAM artists!

This is not a collection firm that is legitimate.  These scam artists target people after they have search and applied for what they believe is a valid loan.  I am in WV and these scamsters call people constantly and harrass them stating they owe money for a payday loan and threatening to send a warrant for peoples arrest.

1.  You can not collect for a payday loan in WV because it is illegal to fund payday loans in WV.  Those inother states, please call your local Attorney General and check on payday loan practices.

2.  A warrant for your arrest has to be processed through court by which you will be notified.  Do NOT fall for these idiots that put more practice into illegal activities.  There is a process to everything and please check with your court system and police department first.

Know your rights and never, never put your information onto a loan site.  This is why people have access to your information before they contact you.  Please call your local Attorney General if you have concerns.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010

FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Some fraudsters have instructed victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain amount, on a specific date, via a pre-paid Visa card. The statement further declares the victim will never dispute the debt.

If you receive these calls, do not follow the caller?s instructions. Rather, you should:

Notify your banking institutions.
Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file.
Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger.
File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.
Tips to avoid becoming a victim of this scam:

Never give your Social Security number?or personal information of any kind?over the telephone or online unless you initiate the contact.
Be suspicious of any e-mail with urgent requests for personal financial information. The e-mail may include upsetting or exciting but false statements to get you to react immediately.
Avoid filling out forms in e-mail messages that request personal information.
Ensure that your browser is up-to-date and security patches have been applied.
Check your bank, credit, and debit card statements regularly to make sure that there are no unauthorized transactions. If anything looks suspicious, contact your bank and all card issuers.
When you contact companies, use numbers provided on the back of cards or statements

I received a call from Daniel Beck or Veck (couldn't understand him cause of accent) he said he was with Telly or Kelly and Campbell legal services. That Americash had deposited money into my bank account and they were pressing charges against me for fraudulent id and social security #. I immediately told him I don't know who AmeriCash is and don't even have a bank account. He started to interrupt me and said I would be served a warrant tomorrow and be arrested Friday good luck and goodbye. I freaked cause I didn't know about these calls. I called the sheriffs office and there was no warrant and they told me I had been scammed and to turn them in to BBB. I don't know how though because the company doesn't exist. but I hope this helps. I changed both my house # and cell # and if they ever do happen to call again they are gonna get a few choice words. Ugh!

My sister texted me freaking out that she needed an attorney and they tried to get her SSN from her. I googled and found this lovely site. Same thing really, she needed an attorney, and they wanted her SSN (apparently they already had the last 4 digits). Thank goodness she wasn't stupid enough to give it to them.

I received a call from Kelly and Cambell law firm with the same voicemail. I ignored it because just last week I had the same person call me stating he was from Alexander Law and I was being sued. THe first time they stated I had a outstanding loan with Cash America. I called and the lady told me it was a scam. Since he read my bank card number to me I then Cancelled my debit card and requested a new one never to be used online. So today He called again at 735pm and I answered. I played along til I finally asked what time it was at his office. He stated almost 8pm. I said thats very weird I have never heard of a law firm being open that late. He stated being very rude and I told him he should remember me because he called last week. He stated he was calling on behalf of another loan company that I was NOT allowed to call. I stated okay then I will see you tomorrow at my work and that I will have my uncle who is a state patrol there with me. He then hung up lol so stupid these people need to be locked up for trying to steal peoples money

i just got a message from these guys, i live in the nj area. I did take a payloan. When i picked up he said blah blah blah thats all i heard. I asked can you tell me what you are talking about. He then persisted that i need a lawyer because i missed payments on my payday loan. That i frauded a company and i need to pay them 698 dollars with moneypack, etc. When they told me that i knew it was a scam. No repicatable company would ask for a moneypack. Careful of these people. I am glad i saw this site, i was about to send them money. Thanks guys

I got a call from these guys too and after several times of me calling back repeatedly asking for information on this jail time and court date I was receiving tomorrow; I angered "Brian" (middle eastern decent) so much that he told me he was a terrorist that shoots people in the a**!  me and my sister started laughing and I asked him if he was still sticking to his affirmation that this was a legal law firm, Kelly & Cambell? He then hung up and would no longer answer my calls. I'm gonna keep at him... ;)
