I just got the exact same call. I returned the call and got a hold of two people who were quick to jump off of the phone.

DEA Agent John Riley called and left a message. I returned the cal. Said I purchased illegal drugs over the internet without a prescription. I asked him what I purchased. He told me Previcox. Hmm, illegal no, it was a prescription medication for my DOG! I cannot buy the medication without a prescription in the US or canada....d***hit.

Good for you! Glad you did it. I was going to, but they harrass you even more....
Carol 2013-09-25 22:10:11 Unknown
did you know it's against the law what they are doing to people and tell you to report it, people get these emails all the time with selling viagra, whatever you want and you happen to open it and you should be scared, that's your answer, very good sir! You deserve a standing ovation.............................

Did call DEA and reported, his number was 309.200.1838 x 1525 and looked up number says it's from Bloomington. I have never heard of any law officer calling before, I got these types of calls and other from Jamaica saying I won $1,000.000 you have to wire funds to them in order to get the check. And I am on do not call list, blocked callers can't get through and call intercept. So how does this stop? I've heard people call and say they have their grand daughter or grand son and need money, and people are scared and afraid and they do it, some don't, but some do

Just wanted to say that I too have been receiving phone calls from this jerk. This is a total scame. When I called him back this time, I had a few choice words for him and he told me to stop using foul language with him to get me an attorney and he would see me in court. I told him I could not wait to see him in court. I did tell him he was the scum of the earth trying to scam people.
So I have now started to call him and tell him I can't wait to see him in court when he gets busted for what he is doing. So I am planning on calling him every day several times a day.
I am sure he got my info because through my insurance I do have mail order to get my meds cheaper. So please if you are reading this know it is a scam. And have a little fun with it, keep calling and telling him waht a jerk he is.

They aren't being hunted google the number - it been active in this capasity for several years. These people are in the Dominican Republic. The DEC doesn't handle such cases they handle drug cases not fraud. Nothing is being done about it.

You've obviously never had someone call you threatening all sorts of dire situations, like being arrested, jailed, etc. And as I posted in response above - oh, please. Take your trolling elsewhere. People who receive these calls do not necessarily buy "illegal" substances via internet - most people have only bought their regular prescription meds at some point, and the scammers call and threaten them so much, they are scared. Let's hope you receive such a call in the future to help you see that people do not "deserve it" for falling for such tactics!
Leslie Garris 2013-07-24 20:14:38 Unknown
It the same people who used to sell them (since the crackdown) that are pulling these scams. If a person didn't buy anything illegal why would they send money to keep them out of jail.

Sorry but if you going to be illegal controlled substances over the Internet you deserve to be scared and fall for such scams!! No sympathy for you. I hope you have recovered from your addiction/s. Only someone scared would even think this was real. DEA officers don?t call people like that. Who would speak to any official without checking them out first. OK mr/ms policemen, please give me your main number so I can make sure you are who you say. An authority would only respect you for doing so. Those who fall for it deserve it!!

I have received 2 calls stating he is a FBI agent John Riley and that I am being checked b/c of an online pharmacy ordering. I told him it was a scam and I was calling police. He told me get a lawyer and hung up.
Concerned 2013-07-02 19:31:27 Unknown
I just got 2 called from the same John Riley. What a jerk.
MidNyteStorm1 2013-07-01 22:54:39 Unknown
No law enforcement officer of any kind would call ahead of time about an arrest. That alone says scam.
ESC 2013-06-25 20:28:02 Debt Collector
John Riley called threatening me with alleged charges of smuggling and buying drugs from a 3rd world country and said I would be listed as an accessory if I did not cooperate. Called local law enforcement and they confirmed this is a scam!

"DEA Agent John Riley" - phony scam. The DEA has a hotline for this fraud it is: 1-877-792-2874. You can leave a recorded message w/the details. In my case, "DEA Agent John Riley" was stupid enough to leave a detailed voice mail message. The real DEA will love this!

they called my house and had my name said they were dea and investigation drug charges againast me hung up the called back saiding same thing

You need to go to the DEA website and report this scam attempt or call this number:
Report Extortion Scam: 1-877-792-2873
Also, the Do Not Call list is not a blocking service so being on it will not prevent any of a whole rash of annoying phone calls, especially scammers. The sole purpose is to provide a list of numbers for individuals (not businesses) who do not wish to receive sales calls for good or services. Companies placing sales calls are required to screen numbers against the list and not call any found unless they are calling a current customer or one they have done business with in the past 18 months. Other types of annoying calls are not covered however survey callers, charities and political callers are supposed to maintain their own do not call lists and place numbers on it when requested.

SCAM SCAM SCAM
Called daily. Left messages claiming to be DEA. I fInally answered and got real person. Told him to stop calling. Then got mad and called him a few nasty names before hanging up on him. He called back and I told him the next time he calls the whistle I use will burst his eardrum. I then blew my whistle. He hasn't called since and that's been 3 days ago. Has called at least once daily for months so maybe this will stop the calls permanently. If you don't have a whistle, DON'T answer the call. If you do have a whistle, answer and wait to hear a voice before blowing the whistle. Works better than calling DEA and reporting him and feels great to get back at these crooks.

The phone calls started from him on Thursday-- the 16th of May. I have never purchased any drugs online. We traded messages back and forth and I recorded his phone messages to me. Was told to get a lawyer and that he would see me in court, when I cut him off during his speal about sending money. I saved the number and it is 309/200-1838.

Thank you for this information. I have been concerned about this. I figured they were scam people as their grammar is so poor, and DEA agents are college educated. Also they do not have military ranks in the agency, and this guy said SGT. I worry for elderly people that these men abuse and rip off. Hope everyone will help.

Making it my life's mission to track these criminals down. Working with Homeland Security and the FBI when they are arrested they will serve 20 to life, and that means anyone who is an accessory to the crime as well. We're close but until then please use your man power and call this number as often as possible. Block your number. Flood the lines to shut them down. Thanks for your support. Pass it on.

I also got a call from this phone number today saying he was from the DEA, but I didn't catch his name (or the name he was using). As others have reported, he also claimed that he had a record of my buying drugs online. I told him I had not, and he told me not to lie to him. He then said they had a record of my buying drugs online and signing for them and gave my address. I said, "I don't know what to tell you; that's not me." and I hung up. He didn't even get the chance to demand money or tell me to get an attorney or that I'd go to jail, but it was scary just the same. I'm glad I didn't stay on the line long enough to hear the things he's said to others on this board. I'm so glad that several people here have already reported him and also that I found this board to confirm my suspicions.

I got a call from John Riley said he was dea agent & that I was going to be arrested for buying drugs online.I told him I never did that. He began yelling at me & said that I was going to be arrested. If I wanted to keep it out of the court system I could pay a fiine &get 5 years probatio. He was rude even after I told him I had a pacemaker & a bad heart he did not care he kept yelling and telling me if I did not pay the fine I would go to jail.

I received a call. Left message on voice mail telling me it was "Agent so n so..This was the FBI calling to inform me they intercepted two packages from the United States Postal Service that was to be delivered to the address connected to this phone number and name. I was to call back ASAP as this was a federal crime."
SCARED ME TO DEATH!!! The only package I know of that I am expecting is some callus remover cream for my feet. HA HA..I am 62 year old Grandma on Disability and I live a very boring , and LEGAL lifestyle. After giving it some thought..I decided it was just some idiot scam caller.
It still made me mad.
Don't people have anything BETTER TO DO???

Same thing just happened to me! I contacted the real DEA and told them about the very rude conversation that I just had and they immediately told me to contact the hotline because it was a scam. I then called the turd "John Riley" back and told him he was lucky I didn't live in the Bloomington area because I would "F*^% him up for pissing me off. He then started speaking spanish. I informed him he would need an attorney now!
Funny thing....I don't purchase anything online other than clothes.
