These people are not lawyers they are a shady second hand collection agency that rips people off, if you pay them you end up paying twice for the same thing, when you call back, they do not identify themselves and they get very aggressive and threatening on the phone , they will threaten with suspensions and even jail time

Sounds like a scam to me.   Only the DMV can suspend your driver's license.  Not some bill collector.  Of course, if your insurance lapses and you are caught driving, the DMV can suspend your license. Also a judge.  Otherwise no. Certainly not a private bill collector.

They are strong arm overbearing, skirt the truth, manipulators. They use subrogation as a Mafioso Don uses innuendo to accomplish
a goal. The laws are alittle more loose and vague on subrogation but they can not lie or misrepresent,  I meant. Shoud not lie.  Any one who has spent more than two minutes on the phone with them can attest. They now have a new freind who can not spell very well, but will not rest untll they are exposed. Anyone can see why they manipulate the law so well, all good lawyers in this type of business. have larceny in thier heart.  Making money off the misfortune of others.

They called me twice in one week.  I asked my homeowner's insurance carrier if there was a claim for the supposed amount.  Nothing. The other insurance company is trying to get reimbursed for a claim they had to pay out.  They are sending a letter to knock off the phone calls.  Meanwhile I am getting a harassment lawyer.

I rear s. ended the car from behind no one was hurt fortunately however I did not have insurance at the time because I was told to stop payment on the check for the monthly premium by the insurance company that insures the used car that I am still owing money on.  obviously I'm at fault and I owe money to the insurance company of who I rear ended up to the amount that takes to fix their vehicle -I understand by reading this website -please correct me if I'm wrong.  I do not own any assets I do not even on home I am in a section 8 building a Housing and Urban Development building for a poverty income people which makes me worry that they can take money out of my social security security.  Can my debt be garnished from my social security? Seems  to me like they broke the law when the Used car company I got the car from told me to stop payment on the checkbecause they already heard from the insurance company of the people that I hit.  would you please tell me what's going to happen what the process is like and where I will end up with my social security? I certainly appreciate your attention to this matter and if anyone has any experience in S I would love to hear about that too.  I am over 65 and am scared.  I really need some advice on this matterat least so I can sleep at night.  again I appreciate your time thank you very much.  Mike

This person not only called me once but twice. After the first call that I answered and hung up on ...the next week got something in the mail stating I was being sued.   I called my attorney and immediately wrote a letter stating to basically knock it off ( in law terms) and if not  I'll sue them.   They called a second time ...didn't answer the call.  Left a message for my attorney to handle.   My attorney is my aunt.  She will tell them to knock it off !!!! Yeah.

they are doin same thing to us, they have settled on a payment plan we can handle, but since I have refused to give them personal bank info they are tryin to make me pay an extra $2.00 a payment for processing. don't the clients they are collecting for pay them? why should we have to pay that crap. I refused to pay the 2.00 bucks I told them do w/e they feel they need to but im sending them money order for my payment every month and if they decline that payment then we are done. Im not disputing the damage that was done to other drivers car. we will pay it. But makes me made that they can add whatever amount they want to it and then threaten you with taking you license and registration if you don't pay it. I have them on my phone threatening that which I found out theres a name for that its called deceptive practice and is very illegal. You can end up with suspended license and registration. but Wilber and associates can not do it, it has to be requested by the insurance company and the state of Illinois cant do it they have to contact the state your in and it has to go infront of a judge to revoke them. this can take some time getting it done from what I have gathered from the DOR. just wanted to add what I know about my rights on here, it might help someone else out..

I recieved a harrassing phone call from a company called First Financial Asset Management at 855-282-1464 stating that they were trying to collect a debt on behalf of State Farm insurance company for a no fault accident that I was involved in about a year ago. The other party's had State Farm insurance and they paid for her repairs due to niether party being at fault and both insurance companies saying they would pay for their insured's repairs. My insurance company said that I would not have to pay anything, I never received any bills or calls stating I owed State Farm anything and I refuse to pay this now because it appears to be a scam.

The other numbers that come up on my phone when they call are 602-977-3700 and 602-778-6979 but I saved all numbers under a contact titled "Don't Answer" and have this contact automatically rejected.

That is the same amount this company wants from my daughter, $3200.  A person said my daughter hit and ran.  No damage to my daughter's car ever, no history of repair.  daughter arrested on New Year's Eve, spent a week in jail because of holiday waiting to be extradited to another county, and lost her job. We found out that the accuser had 1) a salvaged car by VIN 2) just got out of prison for obtaining cash or merchandise by false pretense, still on probation for, 3) was not even accuser's car 4) bogus address of accuser 5) vehicle licensed in another state.

So much for innocent until proven guilty, more like guilty until proven innocent, and now this company is harassing.  Just make sure you check out all aspects of police report (VIN #s)  You'll be surprised what you find.

You need to contact the Department of Commerce and Insurance for your state, they are a federal agancy that regulates insurance laws in every state.  Also you can go to www.ftc.gov, which is another gov agency that regulates collection agencies and their collection practices, there is a number at this website if you feel you want to speak with a person.  There you can file a complaint against Wilber and Associates if you feel that you have been dealt with harshly, or they have threatened you or disclosed any of your debt to another person.  Good luck!!

Similar thing happened to my son.  The only difference is that when someone hits you in the rear no matter if you were to stop right in front of them, they are considered at fault because they were following too close to maintain control of their vehicle.  You probably would have received a ticket for no insurance but she is definately at fault.  You may need to speak with her insurance company on this.  I don't know the laws in your state but, because you don't have insurance does not make you at fault automatically. Good luck!!

According to the FTC which is a federal agency that regulates debt collectors, all you have to do is tell them not to call your number anymore looking for this person.  Since you are not the person they are trying to reach they have to stop immediately.  You can also file a complaint against them if they continue to call or disclose any information about that person or the reason they are calling them to you.  That person is also free to file any complaints about their collection practices.  the website for the Federal Trade Commision is       www.ftc.gov

Ok guys let me try to explain this.. If two people are involved in an accident and the one that is at fault does not have insurance, the insured driver will file a claim with his insurance company who will fix his car. The insurance company now will then go after the at fault party for the money that they have paid out to fix their insured's vehicle. This is call subrogation (the right to make whole). In this case if the at fault party refuses to pay then it is a very strong possibility that their driving privileges will be suspended or revoked due to the financial responsibility law in most state. I do not work for the company that you guys are discussing but I do work for an insurance company. Most states requires a driver to have at least liability insurance to be on a public road or highway. There are a couple states that have what is known as no fault which means as long as you have insurance at the time of the accident then you do not pay for any damage and each person will fix their own veh. (you have to be insured tho) the exception to this rule is that if the other veh is parked then your insurance company will pay the other party deductible. Please remember that for each state the criteria to suspend the license and registration is different. Some states require a police report others will suspend without a police report. The only thing I can say is please make sure you are insured otherwise if you have an accident it can be very expensive especially when the other party claims they have been hurt.

@Bull and Nick...Hey, contact or write to the State Attorney General's office (ILLINOIS) because the same thing has happened to me. I got into an accident in Missiouri; a lady hit me in the rear on I-44 and claimed I hit her which the pictures that I took show different. I went to court and lost with an attorney because my insurance has lasped. I never had an accident in the 26 years Ive been driving and I drive for a living. So the same company threatened me also. So I am currently making payments for an accident that wasnt my fault. The lady who hit me I believe was drunk, because she refused to go the hospital and I got part of her driving history and it shows DWI after DWIs  and suspensions within a 10 year period and she is STILL driving. Thank God, me and my unborn baby survived. I have not given up, I intend to pursue this matter regarding this lady's drinking and driving. And she still has a license. I plan on contacting MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). I am on a mission to correct the wrong not just for myself but for potential others by getting this lady and others like her, off the roads.

Good Luck to you.

They are a debt collector.  Wilber and Associates.  I was in a car accident for which I was not at fault for, but because my insurance lapsed they are coming after me for $25,000.  I have disputed the claim and they sent me a copy of the police report with most of the stuff whited out and changed.  They also sent copies of the information that was paid out for the other party.  I filed a claim against the other ladies insurance because I was not at fault that has gone unanswered.  I have hired an attorney and we are having to go to court.  That is the only way that you can deal with these people.  I did receive a letter that I responded to within 30 days disputing the claim and letting them know that any further communication will come from my attorney.

These people are bottom-feeders. I got a call from Ms. Reynolds regarding property damage I was supposedly responsible for. A LIVE limb from a tree on my property fell on my neighbor's swingset. I offered twice to clean up the limb but my neighbor insisted on turning it in to his insurance...he wanted a new swingset. I called my insurance company and they said if it was a live tree and live limb, it was not my responsibility. So when I talked to Ms. Reynolds she started shooting nastiness to me and I shot right back. I told her that I work for attorneys and I know her kind and that she will not bully me or intimidate me. She kept telling me it was my fault and my responsiblity and I knew it was my fault. I told her I woud sic my insurance company on them. I called my insurance company and he said that they should know better - this was a live tree and a live limb. He said they will explain the law to them, this is called an act of God and I am not responsible. He told me not to worry, they would take care of these idiots...and that if they ever called me again to tell them they are not to speak with me but speak with my insurance company. Bottom line...they are unethical scumbags and will stoop to any level to be nasty and intimidate you.  I will not talk to them again.

They're a bunch of dirty crooks. I was in a car accident wherein I was at fault and have been paying them in order to clear out my $3,800 debt they bought from State Farm (the other party's insurance company). My account was initially handled first by a soulless shell of a woman named Ms. Quinnerly, then months later, an equally soulless and cruel woman named Sharon O'Dell was supposedly handling my account. I've tried explaining my situation to these two on a number of occasions (i.e. I don't have a well paying job, they're slashing my hours at work), yet they continuously insisted that I pay them $375 a month when I was barely even making $100 a month and I still needed to gas up my car and buy food.

I'd gotten to around to September of 2010 with Ms. O'Dell when I'd lost my job. It was around this time that she told me to just pay $100 every month until I could get back on my feet so I could keep my license, and so I was. Thank god these people had some shell of humanity and were cutting me a break.

Lo and behold, Ms. O'Dell went and had my license suspended, in spite of the fact that I'd just given her the very $100 she asked for the day before. When I called to question her, I told her exactly what she told me. She had the nerve to lie to me on the phone and insist that I was being short with her and that she wasn't going to argue with me over the phone. She told me to not call back until I can pay the debt in full.

Wilber has since stuck me with a new collection agent and compared to Quinnerly and O'Dell, she is a f**king ANGEL. I still loathe this organization and would love nothing more than to see it run into the ground, so when I make my calls to their corporate offices and the BBB, I will remember to at least recommend my current collector for a raise or something.

Until then, keep fighting the good fight, everyone. We have to take these idiots down a peg.
