They keep calling me every day, sometimes two or three times a day. I never pick up, always let it go to answering machine and they never leave a message. One time they hesitated to hang up and small chunk of something has been caught on the tape. A noise of party: music, drunk voices etc. Yeah... it was July 4th, by the way.

I have received maybe 6 calls a day for the last week from various numbers all stemming from the same place. Each number has a different name that comes up on the caller id. They say it is for some sort of police fundraiser. I told them I would send them a check so they would stop calling me, he apologized for all the calls and said thank you. I STILL have them calling me several times a day. I call back and it does nothing. After doing research found out this is one big scam!
Calls start out 847-701-xxxx. Do not send these people money! I get them listed as "Safety" "IPAW" "Safety Comm"

I received the same phone call and did not give money via Credit card; but agreed to send money if mail was sent. Once receiving the mail; I checked via the web to find this information and other information related to this SCAM... web site on mail was www.theippa.com; which now is a working web site but bogus. I called the REAL IL Police Association and made them aware of this problem. I also send a consumer fraud alert to IL springfield office. Thank you internet.

SEVEN calls from this number on my AT&T bill from August. No messages left. Says it's from Bloomington, IL (I know not-a-single soul on earth living there). Stop the harassment!

June 28 (2x- 8:30 & 8:47), June 29 (3x- 7:49am, 5:09pm, 5:21pm), July 3 (7:40pm), June 5 (7:42pm)!!!!!!!!

SEVEN calls on my August phone bill from this mystery phone number! It's driving me crazy, that it's not assigned. Who and what is this racket!? No messages left, but multiple calls were made per day, then skipped a few days and calls started again.

Caller stated he was from the Illinois Police Patrolmen's Association, but the caller ID stated (217) 735-2128, which is registered to "A Davenport 1105 N State St,Lincoln, IL 62656"

Got a call from them today at 4:30.  I asked who they were with at which point he hung up on me

It called just 5 minutes ago for the first time that I know of. I answered, and it beeped like an answering machine. I hung up after a few seconds because no one would say anything. My caller ID says  that "PAWI" called. I called them back, and there was a message from the IL police department apologizing for something. It was really hard to hear. Either way, I think it's taken care of based on that.

Cot a call from them last night around 5:15 p.m. The caller finally responded after I said hello twice. He told me who he was with, muttered something very quickly and hung up! I am on the do not call registry too!

Ive been called about 500 times from this number over the last month and they are calling my business line.  I get 3-4 calls day and night.  I have called ATT and the only way to block them is to pay 13/mo.  What can we do to stop this?

I screen all calls, and they never leave a message. They call several times a year. I'm glad to see this site to find out who they are.

Caller ID was disabled.  I said to mail me info so I could research the organization.  Caller already had my address, asked if I would commit to $10 or $15 if they check out.  I refused to commit to anything.  This organization is not listed on CharityNavigator.org.  Their web page (theippa.com) is 'Under Construction'.

I did not answer their call because I wanted to lookup "PAWI" online first.  I was pleased to find this page.  At least some people here appear to have the resources to possibly do something to stop these annoying people.  So, I hope something gets done.  Thanks to the operators of this website for providing this service!

1:41pm PAWI called no message was left, 2 weeks ago they called three times a day for a week straight

This a scam from Pawi from state police chairity who don't care about our privacy rights.  Should get a class action lawyer to sue them out of existence and notify you state atty general

Have had this number, with caller id labeling it as PAWI, 2 times in the past 3 weeks.  These were weekday, daytime calls, with no message left.

Said from police, PAWI. Said I was sick wouldn't let me go. I hung up.

They have called once every three days for the last two weeks. Every time I tell them to stop calling. A little research says they are the latest incarnation of Community Programs, Inc., which was shut down in 2004 as part of an agreement with the state. The IPPA website is still up, though, and it is registered to Community Programs, Inc.

They illegally employ convicted felons and are deliberately misleading; first, 85% of the money collected goes to the for-profit telemarketers. The remaining 15% goes to the IPPA, which is not a charity, but a union under the AFL-CIO.

So essentially any money you give to them goes to telemarketers or union officials.

Received a call at 8:45 pm. Said hello 3 times, caller never said anything

I am a trained fraud private investigator.  I have done my work and have traced this phone number.  My information gathered on them is being turned over to Attorney General Lisa Madigan.

She eats people like this for lunch!

Watch your back scammers, I know who you are and the A.G. will as well.

Received call on June 25, 2007 at 3:32 p.m. Said his name was Keith and was calling for Police Benevolant(?) fund. Said contribution would enable 600 young officers something, at this point I interrupted him and told him can't do now, he said would send the package before any agreement was made, just needed to know if they could count on my support. Told him NO--thousands of dollars in medical bills right now, he said he didn't want to strain our budget, but could they still count on us! LOL What a nitwit--what part of NO does he not understand. For all those stating they are on do not call list, it does not prevent you from getting political, charity, etc. calls. Just tell them you are not interested, please remove you from their list or you will file a report with FCC, that should do the trick.
