Got a call from an Indian guy who asked for my SSN for further education or ob opportunities from this number

Some Indian guy called and when I answered asked how he could help me, ummm...you called me buddy. Then just kept saying hello and then asked what my name was. Hung up on him. Weirdo.

This guy call my old job and advised them that It was about a legal matter. So they called me to give me the number. I called and he told me he was from a collection place and that I was being sued by Cash Advance USA. I advised him I never had a loan through them and he gave me the last 4 of my social security number, and said that they were a mother company and if I didn't pay him the money that he was going to fax everything to the police and have me arrested in 20 min. in front of my kids. I advised him I didn't have a loan with cash advance and I was on my way home from out of town so he wasn't getting anything from me tonight. He said ok I will call you back first thing in the morning. Really,

I have been getting calls  for the past two days from with an Indian accent who identified himself as "John Smith or Michael something" accusing me of not paying a cash advance loan. And that I would be taken to court over it. When I asked for more information to be mailed to me so that my lawyer can review it he has emailed me regarding this I asked him to confirm my email address which he then got very rude. After asking a serious of questions he hung up on me without giving me any answers. He did know a frightful amount of my personal info. I called back and when I questioned him he hung up. I told my husband which he then called them for 2 1/2 hours straight cursing them out saying your very tuff on the phone when your dealing with a female but when its a man you hang up like a punk. I work at a university and on the second day (today 9-27-12); my co-work, boss and myself told him I was fired due to many person phone calls. Which he tells any of us that answer that he "wants to get to know us", "is our friend", or "wants us", nothing regarding a loan or anything legal sounding. I have filed a consumer collection agency complaint with the state of Florida and the FTC.

A man with a heavy Indian accent called our work number asking for a specific employee and demanding that she call him back within 15 min.  When told that she was not there he continued to call repeatedly for 15-20 minutes demanding that we give out her cell number or get her to call back within 15 to 30 minutes.  After speaking to four different people in our offices he threatened to call us 6000 times in a half hour and said that we would be sorry.  He then began his repeated calling again, telling that us that it was him and saying "listen to me!",  "It is urgent that she call me" and saying he was an attorney.

I do not believe that he acted alone.  We could hear conversation in the background which sounded like a call center.  This guy needs to be stopped!!!

Got a call from this number claiming to be from the CA Police Department(Jeff Matthews), second time he called, he threated violence at my workplace.  When I called the number back, a John Martin answered and said he was from American Law Firm.

This number has been calling me and won't leave me alone. They are calling my job, and making rude comments. I don't know what else to do.

this number called me with the same crap as everyone else! After telling him I worked for a Phone company and could trace a redirected number (fake number) and that I could see where it was coming from he immediately hung up. Next time they call you just let them know that you know that it is a scam and there number is being traced as you speak, see how fast they hang up or come up with a lame excuse!! DONT  BE SUCKERED BY THEM!!!!

This is the second numbe to call me with the same crap. They say I am going to be arrested the next because of a loan. The first one that called was 415-376-1481. I actually started calling them back over and over and they kept hanging up on me. Then the guy finally tells me that he was trying to get my social security number and the he had obtained it somewhere else. These are people trying to steal identies.

I work at a hospital's main switchboard and we have been receiving calls from this phone number for two days now, a male with a heavy accent, he tells any of us that answer that he "loves us", "needs us", or "wants us", nothing regarding a loan or anything legal sounding.

This number called sayin that I owed on a loan and when I told him I didn't have one he asked if I could prove that I never got it and told him it sounded like a scam and he told me that he was going to put my phone number on the internet and say its a drug dealers phone number. They stopped calling me but won't stop calling my work.

called and am unable to totally understand with his accent. He Called my work and began using vulgarity and profanity with the main school office.

This is a criminal extortion ring operating out of India. ABC News released an investigative report on it in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

In the meantime, you are going to have to do whatever you can to protect yourself. That includes letting them know they are running a scam and are reporting them to the authorities. 800Notes is not a clearinghouse to stop unwanted calls.
