I view the number on my TV xfinity feature. If I don't recognize it. I'll wait for the voicemail. If it has anything to do with telemarketing sales. I ignore it. I use to work helpdesk for over 15 years. I know how to ignore the phone when it invades my personal time. Also, if you own a timeshare like we do and are in the market to sll it. Forget it. Every solicitor call you get has something they want to sell you not bur from you. Until the housing market rebounds to pre-recession days. forget it. People are not going to spend good money on a vacation spot before spending it on a primary/secondary home. That is, imho, your average middle-class home-owners.

called back the number and announcement comes on "if you don't want to receive any special promotions and want to be placed on our do not call list press the # 1 now".
It doesn't identify who is the caller.
# called Sept 9, 2013 10:03am and I let it go to my answering machine since I don't know anyone in California and figured it was robo call anyway, the thing is smart, because as soon as answering machine picks up, the call hangs up - so it can detect if it is a human or an answering machine picking up.

Lots of frustration exhibited on this series of complaints about the scammers using this telephone number.  Call blocking is one way of stopping calls to your phone.  Please do not stop at that point.  If everyone files a complaint to the www.fcc.gov web site, the FCC will react, investigate and fine the originators, up to and including thousands of dollars.  If we do nothing but complain, nothing will come of those complaints if entered ONLY on this web site.  If we all file complaints to the FCC, they will react, BUT ONLY if they receive multiple reports.  Please file those reports!!

By opting out you actually are helping the scammer/caller!!  Now they know your number is "live" and can sell it to other telemarketers.  My suggestion - do not press any buttons if an unknown number comes up.  Just hang up or ignore the call.

The DO NOT CALL LIST works if you report it, but won't work unless you report it. These folks are True Scam Artists. Low life people who can't get a 'real' job and prey off others ignorance. If you are on the "do not call list" then report the calls by going to fcc.gov and file a complaint online. The FCC will respond to your complaint, and will punish them if you are on the do not call list. If you are not on the "do not call list" then consider getting on it. Every time you get a call, report it. It takes time to fill out the form, but nothing will happen if you don't report it. I write down the numbers, date, time of day and details of the call, each and every time I receive an unwanted call & then report it once a week. Follow these steps: 1. When you answer listen for a prerecorded message. Prerecorded messages are illegal unless it's a political call, a survey call, or some agency you actually do business with. 2. If you get a live person ask them to never call again and to remove your number from their marketing lists. If you tell them this and they continue to call - they will be fined by the FCC, even if they change numbers. Believe me, it does work, but takes effort on our part. I'm busy and don't have time to deal with these type of annoyance people, but I'm a pro at filing complaints with fcc.gov Please be smart and take the initiative to report these crimes.

caller id says Culver City CA.

this one is interesting.

i called it back. it never identifies who they are, but it goes into an endless looped recording that says, "if you are not interested in receiving any future calls and wish to be placed on our do not call list, please press 1 now". it did this for 2 1/2 minutes (about 25 times repeating that statement) then disconnected ME.

i feel like endless looping them and tie up their number for hours.

They called 9/3/2013 5:15PM    ID's as 310 495 4334 cell phone CA. One ring, no message was left. I referenced the "facebook" page listed above, but it has been removed and is no longer available. Gee, I wonder why.  I never answer caller with an ID I do not know. Eventually their scamming will be so well known through the social medias, they will just fail to exist. Thank God. Sadly, the mainstream media i.e. CNN MSNBC CBS ABC and even Fox News, do not deem this as really important, and they could make a difference in this fighting scammers war. Just a thought.

The Do Not Call Registry is not a call monitor or blocker.  It is just a list of people who do not want to receive telephone sales calls.  The honor system.   Anyone who dials your number will ring your phone.   To discover the purpose of the DNC and how it works,  go to the FTC/DNC site and read.

Thanks for posting the company info, but I have to disagree about anything stopping them except legal action.
They are targeting the gullible and under-educated. And there are enough of them to make these calls profitable.

To take the incentive away requires the Federal government to take steps (won't happen with a business-friendly Congress). I doubt anybody would object to monitoring any company that makes very large numbers of outgoing calls. Then we need to put teeth in the TCPA and DNC list. I suggest a $1,000 fine per call made. Any company not keeping records would be fined based on the maximum number of calls their equipment can make. Based of the number of complaints posted here, we could make great inroads into the National Debt that Bush racked up.

I used to be the IT manager for a call center. We only did customer service incoming calls (I would never have worked there otherwise) but I fielded a lot of complaints related to telemarketers and learned a lot about them.

The most likely reason is a auto-dialer. It dials until it hits a "live" number (someone picks up, answering machine, etc). It then records the number as "good" and, maybe, connects to a low-life who could not get any other job. By recording the number, it can be sold in a list of "good" numbers. Either way, they make something.

I doubt that AARP has any involvement. They are just as good as they have been in the past with the exception that they are telling the truth about Republican economics and Republican efforts to commercialize Social Security and Medicare. There are big profits to be made if that were to happen and it bodes no good for the rest of us.

More likely it is Social Security and/or Medicare via the Freedom of Information Act. Your name, address and phone number are available to companies offering "services". That's what happens with an "open" government.

The FTC will not take any action without a "significant" number of complaints. They will not say what makes a "significant" number of complaints. I suggest you do the following:

(1) file a complaint at
               https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2

(2) email or snailmail your congress-persons (Representatives and Senators) about the FTC's failure to enforce the Do-Not-Call list. Mention Donald S. Clark, Secretary of the Commission. This is the guy whose name appears on correspondence claiming they don't have enough complaints. (If you have a Republican, forget this step, they are not interested in our problems or interested in accomplishing anything useful).

(3) call the FTC, Donald S. Clark, Secretary of the Commission at 1-202-326-2514.

Verizon FiOS allows 10 blocked numbers and 10 forwarded numbers. Forwarding to just any telemarketer is a waste of resources. I only forward "live" calls, and there are a lot of them. Then I only forward to an organization that answers "live", currently a Tea Party number and next will be a Right-wing religious group whose deep religious convictions do not extend to African-Americans. The "live" to "live" connection amuses me.

AARP is not the AARP they once were. They should have the right to use the AARP letters revoked.  Their primary goal was once to represent the best interest of seniors. That went belly-up long ago. Now all they are is an insurance broker for United Healthcare and Hartford. Their medicare Supplement and Advantage insurance are underwritten by United. Google them along with the word, "complaint" and see how popular they are. That company has a terrible consumer reputation. They aren't even one of the better options in coverage or cost.

You are also not off-base when you imagine that junk mail and calls increase once you join AARP. You get to pay AARP for a 'membership' and they get to sell your personal information and pass the information onto their partners. If it's "AARP Approved," you can translate that to mean AARP gets a cut. They are just insurance launderers. The irony comes when you pay for AARP insurance you cant get cheaper elsewhere anyways. I can't for the life of me understand why anybody joins them any longer.

I agree a call blocker is the only answer. The DNC list is a big fat joke, just like everything else congress does once the lobbyists pay them all to water down their laws to the point of Useless. When you go to the DNC complaint page, they make it pretty clear that all they do is put your complaint into a data base. The entire program only benefits the friends and relatives who got DNC department jobs sitting on their butts doing nothing. I don't waste my time reporting to them any longer. Most of these callers don't even originate in the USA so they are out of our jurisdiction. The FTC/FBI/CIA/Whatever did shut down a ring of them last year but that's a drop in the bucket. That action was supposed to stop the "Rachael from Credit Card Services" calls. As you all know by now, it didn't stop those calls at all. They just use another name instead of Rachael. Your tax dollars at work.....

I've got a Digitone blocker and these freaks get to call me once and never again. Sometimes, if I notice that they have a series of numbers (you block one and they come back with another sequential number), I just block the entire regional code if I don't have a friend or relative in the area. I also block the Dominican Republic area codes because this is where so many of these freaks actually originate from while spoofing other numbers. Get a blocker. It Shuts these parasites right down and it gives me a rush every time I do it. Best hundred bucks I spent all year, and no I don't work for them. I just got sick of the calls and sick of Time Warner "allowing" me to block only 30 numbers and not allowing me to block entire regional codes, which you all know, is woefully inadequate.

I got a call from this number today, it will be the last time they reach me. The only thing that bothers me is I had to pay sales tax on a blocker that does what my taxes pay my government to do so poorly that I have to buy a call blocker.

I just received same call from "Culver City, CA (I'm in upstate NY).
Waited until someone came on, could barely understand a word they said so I kept making fart noises every time they tried to say something. They hung up after 40 seconds. I figure that is 40 seconds they couldn't annoy someone else.

4 pages of complaints in just a few short days! Another new # calling me. I tried the punching in various #'s for the first time. Sick of spending money on call blocking features, since I do not answer and I will not be scammed from anyone of them, ever! My phone only blocks 20 calls, would love the one that blocks 250, but hate to spend more money on scammers!
