I have gotten several calls from this number.  When they called, an international number would show up. One was fromJapan and the other was from India. Now it just shows up as witheld.  They are threatening and hard to understand.  They all share the same notes. The guy from 310-735-0192  and the guy from 310-844-9135 both had the same notes.

I called back from a private number (same as they did to me) and they were insistant on me giving information so they could call me back. Every time I told them I would call them back, they became insistant I give them information.

They threatened lawsuits against me. I called all my associated businesses I deal with, and they didn't know anything about it.

If these were legitimate collections, they would have to abide by the Fair Debt Consumer Protection Act and provide any information to you regarding a debt being owed.  More than likely, these are "bottom feeders" that are out to collect bad debts from anyone they can with the same names.  The minute you pay any part of the debt when it is not your debt, it becomes an acceptance of the debt.

Always check your credit reports.  You may obtain the actual numbers for Experian, Equifax and TransUnion by going to the Federal Commission website at www.ftc.gov and looking the numbers up through them.  NEVER search online for free credit reports, 97 percent of them are scams.  These are the only 3 true credit reporting agencies.

NEVER give out your personal information over the phone to someone that phoned you.  You did not initiate the call and you have no idea who is at the other end of the conversation.  Identify a scam before a scam identifies you!!!!!!!!

started getting these calls 2 years ago, they would call my work 6-7 times in 10 min, since i had the secretary just hang up on them, the calls stopped for about two months now they are back up to it again, now i have a female calling, her name is Angela Smith, message starts out saying this message is intended for ...... ........ and i must call back as soon as possible have me or my attourny of record call back and if i do not return the call to wish me good luck and good luck in the court house,OK then 15 min goes by and a guy calls back saying the same thing, these people must be really thick headed it is the same people calling for the past year using different names now i told them last year that it was not me,i even called the pay-day loan company  that they said i owed money to and they said i never took out a payday loan, but the twist is i did apply for one with this company but that was back in 2004,i never got approved for the funds!!! so this must be a security breach of epic size if they are calling thousands of people.

Shane Jackson just called from this number stating that I needed to write 2 letters and fax them to his office at 303-739-3335 that I was responsible for a debt.  I also needed to give him my credit card information or he would be filing legal paperwork.  Of course I gave neither but it is very nerve racking.

I got home last night and had another threatening message from them on my answering machine.  Saying the same sort of things.  Very noisy in the background and barely able to speak a bit of English.  Said that they can only wish me luck at this point.
My husband called them back and told them to never call again and that it has been reported to the BBB and the FTC as well as local authorities and the man used some pretty harsh profanity against my husband and then they hung up on him.  He called back and the same man answered - my husband told them that he wanted to speak to a manager about the use of profanity, etc... and the man hung up again.
This morning I have been trying to call the number and am getting a very fast busy signal.  I don't think it's over!

Good Tactic to use against this number. On your cell (I use Verizon) *67 then the number.

I?ve used it a few times from different phones, and if they pick it up, have a little fun with them (they just blocked me). So far what I?ve scene on this web sight, is they?re talking about things in New York, representing a firm in another state, with a number in a different county. LOL. Just send a message/play with them if they call back, and they will leave you alone.

At first they had called my cell phone which I did not answer because I was at work. But they did leave me a number and name of who to call back. But no sooner had i started listening to the voicemail when the work phone rang, it was the same person. When I got on the phone he immediatly asked if I knew about some charges filed against me in the state of New York, I said, "no I have never heard of any such charges." and he says...in a very loud voice, "Oh my God! There have been 3 very serious charges filed against you and you are going to go to prison unless you can make sure you have this paid off by eleven tomarrow morning, to do so you must wire us $5000.00 for a payday loan you received on April 1, 2009 in the amount of $500.00, but with interest and all it is now five thousand. I told him i had never received a payday loan so i am not listening, he told me ...."listen i know where you work and I am going to call your employer and make sure you lose your job, I know where you bank, and your account number, not to mention where you live and the names of your children" and he named them off. He knows everything about me, and told me he wished me luck making it past the next few days, because he is sending somebody to my house. He told me he hopes that God is watching over me, because there are going to be very dier consequenses because of the non payment of this debt.

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego police asked for the public's help Monday in finding a man running a phone scam where he pretends to be a law enforcement officer.

The suspect has victimized three businesses, said San Diego police spokeswoman Monica Munoz.

The suspect, pretending to be a law enforcement officer, calls a business and asks to speak with a manager. The caller then says one of the business' employees was arrested for drunken driving and needs money wired to a specific location for the person to be released, Munoz said.

The caller also says the employee asked that the call be made and that the matter be kept confidential.

Officials believe there are more victims, Munoz said.

Officials are stressing to the public that no one in law enforcement will call and ask for bail money to be wired, Munoz said.

San Diego police is asking anyone with information on the suspect or anyone who may have been a victim to call Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477.

Anonymous e-mail and text messages can be send in via www.sdcrimestoppers.com. Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward to anyone with information leading to an arrest

I just got the same call from a lady who mumbled the information that would be vital to an individual to determine who this was and if the debt was a legitimate one.

When she threatened me with an arrest I call her out on it and advised her this phone was recorded (I am an auditor and all correspondence is recorded with clients for my protection) She did not know how to react.  When I asked for an address so that I could have my attorney draft them a cease and desist letter they said they were unable to provide an address and hung up on me.  When I tried to call her back the phone kept clicking over as if they had disconnected the phone.

I have never had a payday loan and am will do and use my resources to identify these con artist who are the ones that need to be arrested.

If anywone finds who these people are first please post so that we can nail these guys or at least educate people on this scam.

What happened to this nation.  Can't even trust fellow Americans anymore cause a few dishonest people ruin it for everyone.  Hope no one gives into their demands.

Young Woman...don't worry about it, It's all a bluff. I would advise sending an e-mail to your contacts and let them know what happened. I did that yesterday and advised them giving the name and number of the contact, also call your bank, CC, service businesses and ask them about your account being in collections or something.

Don't lose sleep over it, because by law they can't threaten you like that. There has to be a call from your associates (CC/service businesses) telling you in a step by step manner before legal action.

If they called on your cell, I would call your provider and get a number to the feds or a legit company to deal with it.

They called me yesterday on my cellphone and while I was looking them up online they called my work number. They can not even speak inglish. The lady who called me sounds about my age and can not even pronounce my name. She said on the voicemail that she could only wish me luck as the situation unfolds on me. Today she called at 6:57 & 6:58 am. I am no expert but from what I have read they can not call at this hour. I am not sure what to do since they obviously have our very personal information... I am worried that they might try to contact someone in my company...

I received a call from a company at my place of business claiming to be Lanphier & Associates.  They stated that my husband had gone on line to National Pay Day and authorized a specified amount to be transferred into our checking account.  They advised me that everything was done by the internet only through a "soft sell", which meant that there was no paperwork to sign and all correspondence would be done by email only.  They stated that an "EFT" was authorized and that after the loan time they went in to take the money back (plus interest which was 2x's the loan amount) and it would not go through.  They then said that because we failed to pay this amount back within the proper timeframe that we were now being sued and we needed to go to court and plea guilty and pay (get this) 3x's what the original amount was.  While on the phone with them, I was online and looked at my checking account from the date that they were giving me (before and after too) and found at no time where money had been put into our account. The number they gave me that they were calling from was 310-735-0192.  I spent 1hour and 45minutes - being hung up on, yelled at, sworn to, threatened, transferred to and from, but mostly lied to.  I am not someone that will let a company do that to me without a fight.  These people are unbelievable!  I was given the names of Alex Smith, Ronald Anderson, Stephen Alexander, Jeff Marsh, Kim Brown and Kathy.  These are just a few of the names that I actually wrote down.  After being hung up on by them several times, I would call back to them and the line would go dead (almost as if they knew it was me calling back).  The last time, I called back and as to talk w/ Jeff.  Made it sound very casual... I gave them my first name only.  I got "Jeff" on the line and very casually said, "I think we got disconnected, so where were we?".  After getting no where and being yelled at by him, he said he was connecting me to a "senior law analyst".  This man came on the line and sounded just like Jeff, but said his name was Ronald Anderson.  After the same type of conversation with him, he put me on hold and another man came on (supposedly) by the name of Stephen Alexander.  Amazingly all of them sounded alike and when I called them on it, they hung up.
I looked up the business name that they gave me.  It brings up a website which is a bankruptcy attorney.  I called the number (out of curiosity) and asked for some of the people that I had been given the names to.  The man that answered advised me that they have received 40-50 calls that day alone asking if they were affiliated with this other company that is using their name.  They told me that the other company is a scam and don't give them any information.  I called back to the other number (310-735-0192) and tried to call them on the whole thing.  Boy, they tried to stand their ground - but when all was done, they ended up just hanging up on me.
When my husband and I got home, there was a message on our answering machine.  As we started listening, it was the same people - I could barely understand what they were saying.  However, they advised that my husband would be arrested and that we needed to not ignore their messages.
