The lady name Michelle called me stating that she was calling about a legal matter. So I told her to send me a letter if it was that important and from a government agency. She refused and went into her drama script about calling my job and suing me. She left a message on my business phone and I told my boss it was a scam and to ignore it. I haven't takened out any payday loans in over three years. So I've concluded that some company must be selling informaiton of their customers. I reported them to the bbb and the attorney general office.

Its now a Don Rosen doing this scam.i have called instacash and they never got back to me,This is a scam,ITS NOT INSTACASH LEGAL DEPT.PAUL EKSTER IS AN ATTOURNEY THAT WORKS IN NC,THIS MAN IS USING HIS NAME,WE NEED TO SHUT THESE PEOPLE DOWN

I received a phone call from a Mike Smith from McGougan law firm saying I owed "instacash" $5484.87 and it needed to be paid today or else they would fax an affidavit to my employer and they "would know what i did". After googling the Phone number and Mike Smith from Mcgougan law firm I emailed and called the Law firm speaking with a very nice receptionist who informed me there is a Mike Smith who is an attorney there but is there occasionally and would NEVER be trying to collect a debt over the phone. I also received an email from Ken R. Moss at the lawfirm who also said tehy do not have any pendign cases in my name nor would they ever try to collect a debt over the phone. He then gave me the name and number to a detective in California, whom i called and found out I was a victim of Identity theft. The detective told me NOT TO PAY THESE PEOPLE NO MATTER WHAT and to close my bank acocunt ASAP and sign up for an Identity Theft Program. He also said to write a letter and fax or mail it to his attention to be put on the list of victims from this "company". Hope this helps everytone who also received these phone calls.

Received a call today from 310-805-5849.  Hard to understand. . .very strong Indian accent.  Said something about me or my attorney contacting him today.  Not sure what else it was about but glad I googled the number and read what everyone else is getting.  Wondering if I need to change my bank account now.  Ugh!

I also just got a message left from a Julian Roth or Ross saying that if I ignored this call then all he could do was wish me very good luck.  I have gotten several of these calls over the past year and a half from variuos Indian accented people with very normal American names,  All of them coming from the same numbers that are fake but want you to call a different number to reach them.  I do not plan on calling them back.  Number on caller ID 310-803-5849, number to call back 415-373-5242

I got a message from these guys at 9am and it is now 11am and they just called me back again at work.  I told them not to call me again that i knew it was a fraud and was reporting them.  He said go ahead just call him back and he would give me all the info.  I told him to give it to me now and he said he was calling from a Legal department.  I asked what legal Department and he said InstaCash.  I told him I had read about them and knew it was a fraud and hung up.  He called right back and said not to call him again and I said you do the same. Why hasn't any real legel department caught up with these people yet?

This is definitely a phony call. You could file a report to your local DA's office or the Federal Trade Commission to get this matter accelerated by having more and more reports submitted. This most likely happened from an online application for a payday loan. I know I did one a few months ago. It's scary to think that a company out there sold our information and now scammers have this information.

Got a call from this number and a guy with a thick accent left a message which I couldn't even understand clearly but at the end he said I better return his call or else the situation would be much worse or something to that effect.

I want to know what authorities do I contact?  The guy who called me claimed to be in CA, and said charges were filed in Los Angeles county court.

Same thing just happened to me... Did you report it.. what happened? How do they get this information?

I got a message at work from these clowns today.  Same song and dance.  Common sense told me if i was deliquent wouldnt i had recieved a phone call or letter first stating that.  Besides what cash advance loan $5000.  I looked this number up and saw all of the posts.  After calling back and giving the guy more than a piece of my mind he replied by saying,"sir, you are a bastard" and hung up.  Really?  I am a single father and i work hard for me and my son.  It is unbelievable how people will so easily try to prey on peoples fear and take whats theirs.  I hope someone finds out who they are before i do.

Calls and says I am being sued by an unnamed company.  Says his name is Mark Murphy in a thick indian accent.  He has my address, my work address, and my social security number.  When I start asking questions, like who is the company and why, he hangs up on me!  So I call him back, and he asks why I'm bothering him! Thinking about calling the police and reporting this...

I have been recieving the same calls for the past three days. With same speech that i have commited a crime FRAUD. That there will be someone at my job in the morning to investigate. Bu***hit no one showed up. I never took any payday loan out ever. I did change all my accounts. I called this number back and they just keep hanging up on me.

I just got a similar call, and when I called back, some guy named "Dan Wilson" with a very distinguishable Indian accent answered. I advised him that I had just received a call from this number, and he asked for my name. I told him that I am not giving him my name, and when I asked who he was and from what company he was calling, he said the same thing that others have mentioned: a "legal" department with "InstaCash." I told him that I have never even heard of them, and asked AGAIN why they were calling. The guy then said, "Well, what do you want me to do?" I said that I wanted him to put his supervisor on the phone. He said, "I am the supervisor." I said, "No you're not; put him or her on the phone." This moron said, "I am the only one here," and some such other bu***hit, all the while phones are ringing in the background and other Indian chatters are milling about. Then he sighed like I was irritating HIM! Can you believe it? *LMAO* I then told him to stop calling me, as I have no business with them, and ended the call. What jerks!

I had this happen a couple of days ago, with repettitve calls to both my job and my cell phone.. they ended with my social security number and everything.... while able to research found out there exact address: 1958 West Carson St. Torrance, CA 90501!! And the number they are calling from is a land line. The BBB # for CA is 1-909-825-7280... make sure you report this!! This company needs to be shut the f**k down!!!!!

OMG! This just happened to me this afternoon. They told me it was for an online payday loan that I owed and that there were several criminal charges against me. When this man with a heavy Indian accent began to speak, I heard MANY voices in the background. They would never tell me the company or any other information. However, I got a number from California. He indicated that this was HIS company and kept yelling. When I hung up they called me back and asked me why did I hang up on them.  He said he was an attorney and then turned around and told me that he was a bill collector for the firm and that I could keep my money.

I checked and the McGougan Law Firm is only in NC!  Who hires these people? THere was no receptionist or person who could connect me to a supervisor. No one told me the same things and it was a horrible experience. My account number has since been changed and they dont' have access to me. But knowing that they have access to my information is not ok.

How should be go about this? I am thinking about contacting my local news channels and have them do an investigative report.  This is bigger than us and the fact that WE ALL HAD THE SAME experiences says a lot.

I just had the same guy just call me today from and he was saying the same thing you all are saying. Heavy thick Indian accent.  he called from 714-006-6000 but he left 303-558-9796 to call him back at he will not give any information he keep hang up every time I call him back

Person calls repeatedly.  When the call rolls to voice mail, they hang up and call back.  This process continued for several minutes.  When we finally picked up the receiver, the person on the other end of the phone (Michelle Smith - so she said in her Eastern Indian accent) proceeded to say that she was working for a government agency and the my wife was involved in a federal lawsuit that was initiated by the government agency for whom she worked.  She would not identify that agency, nor indeed the government.  She would not provide an address nor connect us with her supervisor.

I am a Bankrupty attorney.  A client has received several phone calls from a "George Miller" claiming to be an attorney with McGougan Law Firm out of Whiteville City, NC.  He stated he was was collecting on a payday loan that was not dischargeable and that my client faced three criminal charges.

When I called the number, it clearly sounds like a sweat shop call center in India.  They asked for a letter of representation and gave me McGougan's contact info.

McGougan Law Firm is primarily a patent law firm (according to their website) and they get calls every day from people looking into these collections calls.  They do NOT do collections work and they believe this is simply a scam.

I advised my client to ignore these calls.  This clearly appears to be a scam.

I got a call at home and at work from this number from a guy with a heavy Indian accent. He referred to a payday loan I had. He said the company was going to press charges. At first I was nervous then when he put on hold I could hear what sounded like a "sweat" shop in the back ground. Then I got to thinking what the were talking about, but get this he wanted to go and get something notorized and then faxed it to him in 2 hours. I started to think how would he know if got it notorized if I faxed it to him. So I got the researching using the number he gave me. The number that appeared on my telephone when I called did not work.
