This is a scam, calling on behalf of firefighters.  My wife answered, and the caller asked for her by name.  She asked him who he was and he said he was calling for a charity benefiting our local firefighters.  This is a scam that has been around for years, so they must be finding a lot of suckers.  It is impossible to get them to quit calling.

They keep calling and leave voice mails saying "Is Tonya there?". Tonya is my first name and the female voice initially sounded like my dentist's but the number did not match so I did not reply. The same voice called several times and then at least two other voices called several times with the same question. Today I had a nice deep male voice calling that said  "Is Tonya there? A-a-a..." and then he did not know how to continue.

I finally got curious to search for the number and see what other people are saying about it. So they are fighters of some sort :-)

They left us a message robocall this time.  It said "hi, this is John from the shipping department.........."
They want to verify your address and credit card number so they can ship your diabetic supplies.  This is a Medicare scam.

Phone fundraising scam.  I am in FL and why would I support firefighters in CA and not FL!!

Phony fundraising scam.   No authorization from, or connection to, local fire and police departments.

Don't no why the reason for the call , left no message.

Trying to collect money for themselves. Are listed as No 5 on the worst charity Org list. BBB cannot get them to turn over info to check them. Do not send money!

Found this on my caller ID at 8:10 in the morning. Even on my days off I'm up by then, but kind of early for a telemarketer call.

This number tried three times on my fax line for my business.  Had no idea what it was until I saw these messages complaints.  Thank you!

Just got one of those calls from that number. When the answering machine answered the guy asked for my husband by name then hung up.

Been receiving phone calls too.  They certainly know when to hang-up before the answering machine comes on.  Like the other comments they will call almost everyday, anytime of day, the stop for a while. Now we are back to almost everyday again. The only thing different when we make a mistake and answer the phone they say that they are collecting fundraiser for the police department.

Calls in a morning after 8 am on Saturday, asks me to donate money for firefighters, knows my name. The caller ID shows California. I called back to this number 310-893-0213 - it is somebody's cellphone - she has no idea. I didn't give any donation - this is a spam.

Guess ill add to the list. 310 area code is certainly not local in MD. No message left when we dont pick up. More peeps oughta get on here to report these spammers that ignore the National Do Not Call list from the government. Ive reported several and im sure nothing was done about it. I did tell one spammer that i had died n couldnt come to the phone.

We live in Kansas and the caller on this number (310-893-0213) said they were collecting money for fire fighters.  I asked which fire fighters in Kansas were they collcting for any the person said "oh, we collect for all of them'....  SCAM to the 10th power..

Caller called at 8:07 in the morning, it seems impossible to stop these kinds of people. They must
pay a lot of people to be able to continue to do this.  About the only way is to cancel our unlisted number
we have had for 32 years.  I picked it up one day on a "Donation" call for our Highway Patrol and donated
and I think they passed the number around, it is now non stop to the point we don't need the phone.

"Local Area Call" at dinner time but they are in Los Angeles  California and I'm in Pennsylvania. Call went to voice mail, no message was left.

called and said it was a courtesy from the fire department. Ask for me by name.

Caller said the same about calling on behalf of our volunteer firefighters and it also showed up on the caller ID as "LOCAL AREA CALL" even though area code 310 is that of Los Angeles and I live in Massachusetts.

just received call ....  silence .... no msg....star 69 is about $1.00......so it's probably a star 69 money maker

Called and said they were calling on behalf of our volunteer firefighters (and it showed up as a "Local Area Call" as someone previously said). I told him we're seniors living on a fixed income, and then he thanked me for our help in the past. SPAMMERS! Our volunteer firefighters don't telemarket, and definitely wouldn't be calling from CA, since I'm in NY!!

Same here as the others. They've called several times in the past, I don't answer, they don't leave a message, now they're starting all over again and I'm on a do not call list.

The usual faked up Caller Id scammers that the FTC seems to be powerless to stop.  Caller Id says "Local Area Call" but the area code is in Los Angeles.

calls almost everyday at all times for about a week, then stops. It start all over again in acouple weeks to a month. Never answered and they don't leave a msg.
