I found a posting for a PR internship for Beverly Hills Marketing on Internmatch.com. I was quickly contacted by an Alexander Henderson that my application had been received and that they would like to bring me into the office for an interview. Well I showed up at the address at 11:30 for an interview as requested, which was a brick building on Wilshire in LA with a door with no handle. You had to be buzzed in, which was impossible for me since I wasn't given any instructions and wasn't even told what suite BHM is located in. I immediately emailed Mr. Henderson asking how to get into the building, but of course no reply.

I'm not sure about this leaving notes on cars nonsense, but if you're questioning the legitimacy of Beverly Hills Marketing or this phone number, consider the scenario of 22-year-old female college students being lured to nondescript buildings in LA for fake interviews.

My girlfriend came home and there was the same note from "Alexander Henderson" left on her doorstep, which freaked her out!  This is outrageous!  Any person who was seriously interested in purchasing a car from another person would leave a note on that car, not on their front door.  This is so out of line that I will be reporting it to the local authorities and doing every thing I can to make certain this "company" is not able to scare others with this horrible and stupid tactic.

I'm not a guy you'd want to play around with! I have an unusual skill set when it comes to dealing with shady types! You really need to be careful on how you get at people because if I would opened my front door and saw someone putting that note on my door I would have shot first and asked questions afterward! That's how I get down! I suggest you find a better marketing approach!

I received the same note as Spunky (above) did... the guy who signed the note, Alexander Henderson, wanted to BUY my car and left this number.. (310) 982-2630.  I live in WeHo.

Only the note was on the front of my apartment door... not even on my car.  I guess Alexander assumes everyone in LA has a car (I know plenty of students without cars).  At any rate my new Audi isn't for sale.

Leaving notes DOES seem like a legit way to drum up business.  If I did want to sell my car I'd give them a call.... from my office line (so they wouldn't have my cell phone number) and talk with them.  If it seemed legit, then I'd give them my cell.

I'm not complaining about the note (and to be clear they did not call me).  I'm leaving this solely for the benefit of others who may receive the note.

A note was found on my car in Studio City recently with the heading "Aloha", i would love to buy your car from you.  Call me at my office if you would consider selling it.  310.982.2630  Alexander Henderson.

If it's not a scam, you gotta wonder what it is because it don't sound legit from the above experiences.  Scam, scheme...all the same game.

I just got one of these notes on my car... signed "Alexander Henderson", not Beverly HM.  I'm not the least bit interested in selling my car, but if I was, I hold the same opinion as Prius Guy 2... no matter how you slice it, this is deceptive advertising and is in fact, illegal.

Whether you're intentions are truly good or not, you are a business that by law, must advertise or market using truthful practices.  The note leads one to believe it was left by an individual, and if in fact there is an Alexander Henderson, would not in itself be a deceptive act.  However, the message of the note is expression of interest to BUY the car.  Your business, Beverly Hills Marketing, is not in the business of selling cars, but selling a service to advertise cars.

Four months ago (on October 9, 2012), a representative of your company posted a reply message that included the following:

"We are in the process of re-structuring so we can actually able to purchase cars, that just hasn't been feasible until just recently."

First of all, "wanting" or "planning" is not the same as "offering".  You do not offer a product to purchase cars from individuals, but rather a service of automobile marketing/advertising.  This is misrepresentation.

Second, some four months later, there STILL is no mention on your website of any offering where in fact you, the company, purchases cars from individual.

If I were in fact, in a place where I had the desire or need to sell my car, like Prius Guy 2, I wouldn't give even a morsel of consideration in looking further to use your services.  When one is deceptive in their advertising, what's to say they won't also be deceptive in other ways?  You lost any hope of gaining my trust.  On top of that, the lack of any indication as to what your fee might be is a big red-flag.  Must be pretty significant for you to state it's broken in two parts.  A service that simply places the ads, then puts the onus on me to field all the phone calls... for a fee that is too much to mention even a range on your website, is a joke.  You no doubt have deals that give you big breaks on advertising fees for "paid-advertising" type sites.  I imagine you also dump the ads in every free rag out there.  Then you leave it up to the seller to field all those calls.  In my opinion, a far worse option that choosing where/how and do it on your own.

Thank you all for your inquisition and determination to identify and root out any scams or companies looking to take advantage of consumers. We however are not a company looking to hurt people, sell information, or bother you. We just put notes on peoples car's to see if we can link sellers up with buyers who are looking for their particular car or offer some cost effective advertising options. We are in the process of re-structuring so we can actually able to purchase cars, that just hasn't been feasible until just recently. If you all want to call and speak to us, or meet us personally we would be happy to answer any question you have and or take into consideration any of you're feedback. We are supportive of local business's and are looking to establish and maintain a good reputation within the community.

Thanks

Obviously Beverly HM is monitoring this thread. I'll just say to you guys - even though your intentions are good, the way you go about it is pretty deceptive. Why not use flyers or a business card instead of giving people the impression that a hand-written note was placed on their car by a person named Beverly? Even if I was interested in selling my car it would get me off on the wrong foot with you guys because I would fee like I was tricked into contacting what I thought would be a person instead of a sales call. I almost called you guys just to tell you I'm not interested in selling because I thought there was some woman waiting for a response. Glad I didn't. If I got caught up in a sales call I would be pretty upset.

Hello Chris!

Thank you for taking the time to write about our number. But we were wondering: Are you sure this is the right number? This might be a mistake. We usually don't call any random numbers so that people that we have on the phone actually are interested in selling their car. Then, we can provide our help to sell to a high price.
If this is the case for you, you can still contact us at our number 310 982 2630 or on our website http://www.beverlyhm.com

Hey amazing!

We completely understand that you can have your doubts about a company you don't know much about and that you want to protect yourself and other citizens. We are also against scamming procedures.
But we are different from what you have in mind. We are an automotive marketing company and all of us are really motivated to help people sell their car for a high price by exposing it to different places. But we are realist and, while we put all our efforts in selling cars for the highest price, we check the market and make sure that there will still be buyers for the price we put.
