Received the identical call - ND   8:30 p.m. - left a message

I just got a call from Rick Webber at the "Corporate Acquisitions Group". Said he had a top dollar buyer that was interested in strategic acquisitions and wanted to know if I was interested in selling. Sounds like he's making the rounds. What does he want?

Same call and same line from Mr Weber (312-821-9022 ext 701) at Corporate Acquisitions in Chicago.  Said he has a buyer interested in a business like mine.  Thanks for the heads up and this site!!!

Got the same call from Rick Webber on my cell on November 3. Curious it was a scam I found this website. Thank God I didn't waste any time calling him back

Got the same call as everyone else from Rick Webber.  Sounds like a bunch of bull.  You probably have to give them some money and they'll look for a buyer.  Well they must have a nice phone bill because now they'll seliciting Alaska.  Good luck there. I guess Alaska is popular now that our governor is running for VP.  And like her we aren't idiots.

Actually they're selling "evaluation services" to value companies to sell to "their buying group"

I own a garage door company and received the same call left on my answering machine last night after hours. I assumed it was BS and decided to google it.

What a sad, sad, way to live. If Mr. Weber can afford to scam people he should be able to get a honest job. Life is a circle and this will come back on you Mr. Weber or maybe your children, or grandchildren.

Got a voice mail message from a Rick Weber saying that they had a buyer looking for a business like mine in this area and wanted me to call them.

I actually do have my business for sale, but it's being handled by a professional broker, an IBBA member, and he alerted me to the fact that this guy is a scam artist fishing for listing leads misreprenting the fact that he has a specific buyer for the business.  

From the number and diversity (locations/business types) of complaints registered before mine, my broker thinks that Mr. Weber is just a low level telemarketer working for a listing referral service feeding leads to brokers for a fee.i.e. dialing for $'s

Same as the rest of you, late call with message left on voicemail. I always call back to get the story, mainly for education sake, but only an answering machine. Thanks for this web site

I just rec. the same call this evening, I have a RE appraisal firm and had quick dreams of cashing in, I guess I will keep up the long hours of the self employed.

Obviously a scammer.  Received a call last week from Rick Weber 312-242-3640 from Corporate Acquisitions Group, Chicago, IL.  Top $$ strategic buyer....blah, blah.  Total waste of time!

Got this call today.  Sounds like it is a big scam to try and get some money out of business owners.  Probably praying on those people that are actually looking to sell and retire.  Too bad if one were to fall for this and lose some money.  If you haven't figured it out yet = THIS IS A SCAM AND DON'T GET SUCKED IN!!!!!!

I have received the same call on 7/14/08. The call back number Rick weber gave was 312-242-3640, My answering system said he called from 347-328-1253

Rick Webber called with the same message. I am assuming it is a cold call line of BS.  I'm guessing he is too busy to call again.

Got the same recorded message from Rick Webber of Corporate Acquisitions Group in Chicago, saying he represented a buyer for a business in "that general area you are in", top dollar, strategic, all that BS.  I don't know what his scam is, but it is a scam.  He doesn't have a clue what business I am in.  Waste of time.

Same as Mary Anne's---Why would someone call, then say it's an error without even asking who they got?  They know it's an error AHEAD of time?? What are they up to this time?

Got the call and met with their local business analyst. Total scam -- they operate the same way Allliance Acquisitions does - see http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/222/RipOff0222111.htm.

The wanted $8000 for a "business evaluation" that they say will be refunded in a year if they do not sell your business. But read the contract - they are only obligated to "introduce" you to a "qualified" buyer or investor who is "interested" in your business. Very different from actually presenting a buyer who actually makes an offer for your business.
