Caller said that Big Brothers Big Sisters was looking for businesses and individuals to purchase tickets so that children can go to the circus in Chicago. Since Big Brothers Big Sisters is a fine organization, I pledged but refused to give credit card information over the phone. A person called back a few minutes later to confirm my pledge, and when I asked about the payee for the check, she said "Chicago Children's Circus." Guidestar does not have any information on this charity, and an internet search for a webpage found nothing useful. I found this site by searching using the phone number. Cunningham & Moore mentioned above has a "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau in Dallas. Needless to say, I will not be fulfilling my pledge.

We get this call twice a year at our office. The guy who calls has a Southern Drawl and says his name is Luke Russell, and when pressed, says his company name is "Agente." This is false. Maybe his name IS Luke Russell, but the only company name Agente is in Texas and nobody named Luke Russell works there. This guy and his "team" of callers tries to solicit donations for a small-time circus that tours the country and says it's tied to various children's charities. We have researched this, and it is not tied to any of them. In addition, the circus has been cited repeatedly for animal cruelty and abuse. it has been banned from appearing/performing in certain states. Every year they change the name of the circus slightly to avoid a bad rap. Illinois is one of their most popular destinations, as they have not been banned there (yet). My boss used to donate to them just to get this dude off his back, and when we did the research and figured out who these folks were, we stopped donating. They are hard to get rid of---we had to be borderline rude to get them to stop calling.

They called me like 9 times in a row, one minute after the other, it rang once and hung up when I checked the phone # it came up as a person, when I called back the person identified themself as someone different than the listed person, and started to solicite a donation for something.
To me it sounds like they used an auto dialer. In my opionin not a way to do buisness

My experience is that someone called from this number saying 'This is Luke Russell ... I'm back in the office ... I called you about 7 or 8 weeks ago and you helped me out ... I'll be around in the office til 4:30 today. Give me a call when you get the chance.'
Uh ... no, I'll not be doing that.

left me a message and asked to call "Amber" back at 312-266-4550, she was calling from the "Chicago School System" and she "needed my help." When I called back, she said that the kids (from several schools, did not recognize the names of any) were going on a field trip and they didn't have enough $ and could i donate. SCAM!

This phone number is from a telemarketing firm going under the name of Cunningham & Moore, C&M or maybe Life Adviser. They are located at 13601 Preston Rd., Dallas. They solicit donations for "White Rock Jaycees and the Shriners" under the guise of "helping children". I have not found any phone numbers, listings or information other than a single "logo" page web site for an organization called White Rock Jaycees. This same company also solicits donations for "Amvets" and others no doubt from various 972-702- phone numbers. Ironically, the Jaycees and Amvets have the same mailing address listed on their pledge/donation documents. I've confirmed that a typical split on donations gives the telemarketer 80% (yes that is 80%)of what is collected. Eighty cents of every dollar. They're obviously very concerned about their causes - the poor children, the forgotten Vets. These people make the Wall Street guys look like do-gooders. What they do in the name of charity is despicable and just plain sleazy. While I allowed their "causes" to interfere with my better judgment, it will never happen again.
