This is an automated telephone scam being used to steal credit and debit card numbers from unsuspecting customers. If you have disclosed any debit or credit card information please contact your bank and ask them to cancel your card.

computer voice stating, "Hello, this is a message from Parkview (may have said clarkview-voice was distorted) Federal Credit Union. Your VISA card has been temporarily suspended because we believe it was accessed by a third party. Please press one now to be transferred to our security department."
I am not a member of a credit union and do not have a visa through either clarkview or parkview. Please do not give these people any of your personal information. It has to be a scam!
csurface 2011-06-06 20:45:40 Unknown
Just wanted to add a comment. The good folks at the real Parkview Credit Union are aware of the scam and have posted the following warning on their website:
"FRAUD ALERT!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PHONE SCAM HAS HIT OUR AREA
People have contacted us to say that they have received a phone call from Park View Federal Credit Union in which the caller states that they suspect fraudulent charges on a credit card. They then request the card number so that they can confirm the charges on the account.
THIS IS FRAUD! We will NEVER ask for a card number (or other confidential information) when contacting a member.
If you have received a fraudulent call and have given out your card or account information, please contact your financial institution immediately to have your card blocked!"
Stay safe out their guys and never give out personal info over the phone!

On 1/10/09 at 3:09am, call from Lafayette Credit Union saying my ATM card was being suspended. Same # 312-416-0294. None of related to any financial institution I deal with.
So thanks goodness for this site linking this suspicious and intrusive call.
Congress never has addressed this kind of thing. Guess there isn't any money in it for them!

I received a phone call from a recorded announcement stating that unauthorized parties had accessed my account information and that my credit card had been canceled please press one for security. After pressing one, I received another recorded announcement asking me to input my credit card number. At this point, I pressed ?0? in an attempt to reach a live person with no success. The recording again requested that I input my credit card number and I hung up.
The link to report this to the Federal Trade Commission is https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

Just got this call from this number. Didn't recognize is, so didn't answer. Left a message, but sounded fishy. Wouldn't my bank be the one to call me? Did web search and found this info. Thanks!

Both my husband's phone and mine rang at the exact time - a little after 12 midnight and stopped before we could get to them. We called the operator and they said to report this number on the Do Not Call Registry - www.donotcall.gov. Especially if you are registered.

received a call from this number at 1:54 AM this morning. The recorded message said that they were from Northstar Credit Union and that due to fraud concerns our ATM card has been deactivated. Was told to push something to reactivate. Since we don't have a Northstar CU ATM card, I hung up. I assumed it was a scam.

I'm up working on my computer.Recorded call 230 AM.
Wanted to know my ATM number. I punched in some phony numbers-press 1-This is not correct says auto voice. Auto voice read back numbers I punched in again. I'm hoping my fun does not turn out bad for me. This is as offensive as the Nigerian scams.
I will report this to the FCC online and anyone else I can get to.

I got a call too saying they were from "Lafayette something" and that my ATM card had been deactivated. They said to reactivate I would have to give them my card number. 312 is a Illinois area code and since I live in Chicago, I picked it up. However, my phone number is not a Chicago number. I hung up. This is such a big scam.
Alli 2009-01-09 18:34:27 Unknown
I got this call as well last night at 2am. I hung up right away because I figured it was a scam. It is scary that people must still be voluntarily providing these dirtbags with such personal information. These people need to get a real life and stop being such dirtbags.

An automated call asking me to enter my entire credit card number. Sounded fishy to me, so I googled it and found others who received similar calls. It looks like the caller ID and phone number of a legit company have been hijacked!
ab 2008-10-12 12:27:08 Unknown
Our phone rang and woke us up around 12:30 am last night and startled both my husband and I (we both are older and have heart conditions -- not good to do that to us!) They did not leave a message but I checked caller ID and it said "Hostway" with the number 1-312-416-0294
judy 2008-10-12 05:17:39 Unknown
They called to tell me that a hold had been put on my credit union check card because of fraudulent transactions. I don't belong to that credit union and don't have one of their cards. This is a scam.
Jeff 2008-10-11 16:55:03 Unknown
They called me asking for my bank info. It is a scam and a bad one at that.
