Soliciting information about my child.

I have been called by these people and looked up the number. Some reports say this is a promotional caller, others say they're just doing it to harass people, although I found two reports that said this was some sort of Satanic Cult or something. I don't necessarily believe that, but these people are starting to scare me.

this guy just called me and it was really weird:

ME: Hello? May I ask who's calling?
GUY: Can I talk to your mom or dad?
ME: No, they're not available...can I take a message?
Guy: Do you ever say hello first? (hangs up)

I'm a little bit scared now

I too received calls.  This raises concerns about how privacy laws are enforced with security companies.  They have a duty to protect client information given the nature of their business.  The fact that these callers know so much about your account is concerning.  Legal action is warranted.

These are idiots.

get a call from them daily, it rings twice and they hang up.  When I return the call, machine answers Promotions Dept.  Becoming quite annoying.

THESE NUTS HAVE LOST THIER MINDS.  SOMEONE NEEDS TO PUT A STOP TO THIER INSANITY OF DISTURBING HARD WORKING PEOPLE.  THEY ARE ANNOYING AND DISRESPECTFUL AND IGNORANT.

These people keep calling my house wanting to know if my alarm monitoring is set up on a "land line."  They claim to be from GE, and that they want to sell me the alarm monitoring service.  They've called several times this past week.
I think it is a band of burglars who want information so that they can disable the alarm system and break into my house.

I'm ready.

When I called back, automated system voice said, "please leave your message for...'Promotions Department' (real person's voice).  We're sorry that mailbox is full.  Please try your call again later."

Caller ID read "Chicago".  Person on the line said they were from GE Security calling about my ADT alarm system that I have.  Stated they were the manufacturer of my security alarm system and wanted me to upgrade my system.  I said it was strange that they were calling me and I don't understand why they were calling.  Caller hesitated and then disconnected.

I called ADT and first rep was completely unhelpul and unconcerned about my security.  The ADT rep who ansered the phone basically told me I don't need to worry about it.  What?  I held on the line for 30 minutes waiting to speak to a supervisor.  Supervisor finally came on the line and acknowleged that ADT knows about this and is investigating it.  She said a notice went out and all ADT reps should know about it.  I'm not sure if I believe it, but there's nothing further I can do.

Supervisor advised that if you have ADT Security and received a call from this number to call ADT and report it.

Update from my 2/15/12 post:

I called ADT and spoke to "Rachel", a Billing Supervisor.  I gave her all of the details as posted above, along with the phone number. She stated that she would escalate the issue by internal email.

Rachel stated that ADT did not have a relationship with GE but that they did previously have some connection with Honeywell, who made some of the electronic components.

Since the "GE" caller called me on my house phone (unlisted), which is also used as my account #, and referenced information regarding installation dates, etc, they obviously had details that only ADT could have provided to them.

Rachel suggested that I use the ADT online site to add additional protection to my account. Of course, this only resolves future issues and not whatever is actually going on right now.  It was also suggested that I call the local ADT office, too, which I will do.

In my (hopefully recorded) conversation with Rachel I expressed multiple times that I felt the information that was given to me by the "GE" caller represented a breach of security with ADT and if any occurrence were to take place at my residence in the future I would consider ADT liable for this.  They denied involvement with "GE" but admitted that they did have a prior relationship with "Honeywell" which, according to the prior posts on this site, has used this number to call people in the past. There is obviously some connection here. More details to follow.

For 4 nights in a row I received a call from 312 3477 0338.  Each time the phone rang twice and then hung up.  This afternoon I have received a call every hour from the same number.  Again each time it rings or two times and then hangs up.

Confirming what ODNCR said yesterday, this is GE Security calling and I am an ADT customer.

The caller, Tony, knew that we had ADT and she said "we manufactured the alarm components and all ADT does is monitor." She then went on to offer a cheaper service with faster response. As I hung up she said "do you like paying for service calls?"  

There were too many leading questions about my security system and some statements were phrased to assume specific details about ADT and my hardware setup. It made me very suspicious. This seems like a phishing scheme. I will be calling ADT to let them know that I consider this a security violation. I intend to find out what their involvement in this is.

312-477-0338 has been calling asking me to change to GE Security (instead of Honeywell as others have stated, guess its a new company name) I am also a ADT customer have been for many years.  What company  is selling their phone list to these people, annoying calls.  This one gave his name when I asked as Mike Flynn # 17 said he is called ( "Captain Flynn of the Security Guard for GE") how cute. When asked the phone number he gave 800-986-3034.   Also mentioned that out number was not on their do not call list that is why he can call us.  I doubled checked and we are still on the list.

Happens here also & I got the ADT call... Called the phone company & told to block him do this  
*(STAR) 6 7 his # 312-477-0338 will hear 2 beeps then hang up.. This should block it!!! :)

I have an ADT system as well.  Number keeps calling me.  They hang up after about 5 seconds ringing with me not answering.

This has been confirmed Satanic. They have been surprising and paranoying people all over the US and beyond in the name of Satan and must be stopped!

Only rang once and no message.

Got this call so far three times  each time they hang up on the third ring!!!It is now becoming annoying.

Non stop calls...3 in 5 minutes...and 3 more over last 2 days.

They let it ring just twice then hung up. Left no message.  Call some times 10 times a day...this is so annoying.

We are getting MULTIPLE calls weekly and even daily from this number-typically 2 rings, then click when I answer but once spoke with someone stating they are from Honeywell.  I stated I was not interested.  We still continue to have multiple calls.

Since 2 weeks ago they keep calling and then hang up.

Same here.  How can we sue these people?

They ahve called me over 7 times in the past two weeks.  They let it ring twice and then hang up.  If you answer no one responds.  It is annoying and illegal since we are on the national "Do Not Call' llist.  please disconnect this number and fine these people for harrassment.

They call a few times a day, but they have been calling for at least a month now.  I have a Panasonic cordless phone that blocks unwanted calls and I just added this number.  I have never answered it and they never leave a message.  Today the phone rang only twice, so it must be a computerized calling system.

These systems should be illegal.

Same experience as everyone else. It calls me twice/day. Nobody is ever on the other end when I pickup. This is a great way to get people to not by your product, or service.
