I applied through Craigslist, as well.  I highly doubt I will be using Craigslist, unless it has the name of the company (which I will also verify its legitimacy) and allows me to apply through their website.

Indeed.com has some good jobs with actual links to company pages.  Always make your own judgement when filling out applications for "companies" because I'm sure on any job website there will be scam job postings.

My friend also gave me this website http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/ to verify if a company is real or not.  If you go to that website and type in the name of the company in the upper right hand corner, a list of complaints, if there is any, will be listed for that company.  But again, if you don't see any complaints, doesn't not entirely mean it's legit.  I would google the company, too.

Same number, same message...... I just ignored it the first time I got it which was a few days ago. But then Saturday morning I got the same message, but this time it said it came from one of my contacts. Right then I knew something was up. So I just blocked the number and haven't heard from them since.

I just reveiced the text also. I responded with a request for the name of the person I should ask for. I have not received a reply. Thank you all for posting this. I really appreciate the heads up. I don't even know how they got their hands on my number. I have been applying on Craigslist and Career builder. Anyone else?

Same exact message. I think its weird. I am not calling back but I did text the number back and I said "No thank you" I got an email this morning from a guy named
Greg Klein and his email said this, (subject line Regarding an open position in the Administrative Support field)
Hello (myname),

I saw your resume online and wanted to inform you that we currently have a position in the (my city) area for which I believe you are fully qualified.  Your past administrative experience makes you a great fit. If you are interested please apply through the link below:

Administrative Support position (this is a link I clicked on and it seemed legit so I filled out the form with my address and cell phone numer, they also asked me to check a box on whether I'd rather have an email/text/phone [recommended] about the job or letter [5-7 bus. days] of course I chose the recommended because I am looking for a job)

The position entails administrative duties such as typing, preparing documents, data entry and performing online research.  You must be a self starter who has great verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with email and word processing programs are a plus.

The expected income ranges from $12.50 to $14.50 per hour based on your performance, and you have many opportunities to advance within the company.

Thank you,

Greg Klein

I just called the number back 888-907-0906 (there are numerous variants of this number so heads up for those getting text messages about a "job")

I called the number back this time because I have gotten similar text messages saying "Hi XXXX, I just reviewed your application for the Manufacturing position you applied for. Please call me at 888-907-0906". I decided enough was enough. The young sounding guy on the phone right away says "Hi, my name is Jake. Is this XXXX?" Now...that is messed up. He knew my name instantly. Anyway, I said "Jake, look man. I am really trying hard to find a job. If a company was interested in hiring me they wouldn't kick things off with a TEXT MESSAGE" He claims they do the interviewing on behalf of the company that's hiring. I asked him "Okay Jake. If you know the name of the company that's interested in hiring me, please give me the name because I have a whole list of company names I have written down that I've submitted resumes/applications for work" He was caught off guard and became really defensive. He said the company wanted to remain anonymous. He tried again and again to get my "information" to "begin the interview process". Yeah right. I told him look, just remove my information from your database because I don't have time for this. He tried to assure me they were a legitimate company. I said "since when does a company interested in hiring send you a TEXT MESSAGE?!" He immediately said "Okay. You are no longer considered for the position and you will be removed from our system". oooooohhhhhh soooooo scared!

Keep in mind that there are indeed 3rd party companies that do the interviewing for the company that is hiring. Many of those do in fact remain anonymous. However, the number(s) associated with said numbers are not who they say they are. Bottom line - stay alert. Don't give them personal information.

There are programs that scan sites like Career Builder, Hot Jobs and Craigslist (and others) and look for phone numbers and email addresses so you can get spammed with their false crap and unwanted calls for things like "online education/online college". I got a call last week in fact, from a woman asking if I wanted to further my education online because I indicated that on a job application (which I did NOT mind you...on ANY job I applied for).

Best of luck to those trying to find work.

I got the same text message. I took the time to call the number back and got a call center for "employer services". They said they wanted to verify the information on my resume but when asked what company this was for, what source they got my resume from or any other details about the position I was given the "company wants confidentiality" BS.
Good luck on your job hunt guys!
