Calls many times a day. Answered one time and answered "The information you requested does not apply to me or anyone at this number." Ever since then I've been bothered multiple times asking the same question which gets the same answers. They get this info from your doctor through "anonymous sources." That is good enough. They have no reason to call you. I mean just sending letters in the mail with a voluntary number to call would do this a lot easier, cheaper and people that want to provide truthful answers would happily call.
I'm beginning to think this is something tied to Obamacare to see if they can link you to a Healthcare Policy and if you lack one they can fine you because you rat on yourself.
This number is for the National Opinion Research Center at the Univ. of Chicago. Apparently, "they serve the public interest and improve lives through social science research that supports informed decision making..." (from their website). They keep calling me too, so I called back. The female who answered asked me about people under 18 yrs old living in my home. I answered a very blunt "NO" to all of her questions and told her to stop calling me. Their research is not going to be very accurate because they keep cold-calling over and over and annoying folks who aren't going to be patient about answering a survey. Although I answered truthfully, I would have given the same "NO" no matter what, just cuz I am sick of them calling me.
Called me at 7 pm on Father's Day Sunday. Hung up before I could answer. Losers.
Rule of thumb - if you do not recognize the number do not answer. If it's important they will leave a message!!!!
Please stop calling me!
If they work for the government they would already have access to your school immunization record
Seriously? Calling me on Father's Day on a Sunday afternoon? I've ignored the constant barrage of calls from UC for weeks (sometimes 2 or 3 times a day)... you'd think this "Institute of Higher Education" could turn the damn auto-dialer off for one day? Blocked. Thanks for participating! Please move on to the next poor soul whose phone number was "scientifically selected" (monkey with a dart and a phone book?) by a "computer" (monkey with an abacus?), and might actually be living under a rock (with kids) and somehow still misinformed about this.
Hahaha glad you said it
Sorry meant I had no kids.
How did they get my number ? I am in my early 20s and have kids. Is it like census for the cdc? What does it help them accomplish ?
This number is starting to annoy me intensely. How the devil did they get my cell number, which is on the DO NOT CALL list??
The few times I have tried to answer the call to see if anyone is on the other end, there is dead air.
Most times I simply click "Ignore" on the cell phone to end the call.
I wish they would take a HINT and stopppppppppppppppppppppppp!!!!
This has got to stop!! It's harassment in full form.
The CDC is working with the Univ. of Chicago to take a survey about immunization levels with children. I got a letter from the CDC saying they would be calling and it was totally voluntary.
Thanks to all of you ... just got a call from this number (of course, no message left) and number now blocked. Problem solved.
Called me a few times left no message so i called the number back they asked if I was returning a call .I said well who is this they refused to tell me so I hung up on them. They contimue to call but not leave a message
As someone who used to work for a call center, ask EXACTLY to be taken off their calling list. That will usually get you off their list for a few years.
Got a call yesterday at 5:17pm. We were away. No message left. I did get a letter in the mail stating that they CDC / University of Chicago were doing a survey so maybe they are legit. Not taking it, though, since I don't trust folks I don't know with our medical information and we normally don't pick up when we don't recognize the phone number.
this is really concerning to me, i have been getting calls from this number for a while now and i did the so called survey but it really didnt seam right, its sunday at night, they call a few times a day and said i was randomly selected... how often was i randomly selected? its just strange, they didnt ask names or anything but still this call worries me.
This telephone number keeps calling my cell phone. Call is coming from Chicago. Please stop calling me.
Received a call at 10:15pm... I answered "Hello" and they hung up. What the heck? Someone trying to telemarket me at bedtime.. Heck at least read me a bedtime story at that hour.. LOL. JK. I think about a week ago I got a call from that number asking me about a survey for immunizations regarding children. I told her I didn't want to participate and she went on and on about why... I told her to remove my number then I hung up on her.... was this supposed to be some kind of payback?
f I register my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all telemarketing calls?
No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you?ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. However, if you ask a company with which you have an existing business relationship to place your number on its own do-not-call list, it must honor your request. You should keep a record of the date you make the request.
Are calls from political organizations or calls soliciting for charities covered?
Political solicitations are not covered by the TSR at all, since they are not included in its definition of ?telemarketing.? Charities are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000 .
What about telephone surveys?
If the call is really for the sole purpose of conducting a survey, it is not covered. Only telemarketing calls are covered ? that is, calls that solicit sales of goods or services. Callers purporting to take a survey, but also offering to sell goods or services, must comply with the National Do Not Call Registry.
It makes no difference whether or not the offending/annoying call is from a landline or cell phone..
how can I report this one being calling need
So, some stranger calls asking about your children, and you view this as harmless....Real studies get info from doctors' offices, legitimately. Calling you at home is not "legit" . So give our your personal info if you want to, but remember public health studies go to the source, they don't call randomly.
My son keeps receiving a call from (312) 578-7015. Please stop!
Why are you so down on PO'd...
Since ALL of the medical records are now electronic the CDC can get all the records via a stroke of a few keys...but
YOU sound (by what you write) like a Progressive Troll!
I too got a call from this number and I answered the questions that they asked...
But...I should have refused to answer because I have no little children or teenagers...
Had I known that they were NOT the CDC I would have told them to pack sand as its NONE OF THERE F...ING BUSINESS!!!!
And No...I'm Not a welfare recipient as you assumed that PO'D was...
Ease up...since the phone bill that they make is charged to the receivers phone...!
What you say makes sense, but then how do they benefit from the information? Or DO they really have access to this info through the doctors?
I agree. And the talk about the government having no right to force us to answer questions or divulge information - NO ONE is forcing you to answer questions. It is nothing sinister. If you don't want to answer, the survey questions about immunization a, then be a grown-up and simply TELL them that.
I have recently been receiving calls from 312-578-7015 I do not and will not answer these calls....I do know this number is a scam. I know my number has been sold to these spammers. I am receiving calls from other states and out of the country.
What can be done?
