Debt Collector
They collect for Woodforest. I worked out a deal to pay them. Today they took money off my card without my permission. They made two attempts to take money today. First was declined because they requested more than what was on the card. Second time they tried for a smaller amount and got it. Werent suppose to take payment until Friday when I get paid. THEY CLEANED OUT MY ACCOUNT TODAY. NOW I DONT EVEN HAVE GAS MONEY. DONT GIVE THEM YOUR CARD NUMBER!!!!!! I cancelled my card today. I called to freak out but they transferred me and left me on hold forever.

Wow! Is this what this phone call is for. I actually got a huge refund from Woodforest along with a letter explaining why they were refunding these fees. I closed my account once the refund hit and deposited in my new bank account with Cap One. So, are they now trying to recover the money they refunded?

The people are rude. I ask for verification of the debt and they tell me the same nonsense. Now that amount makes sense if they are wanting the refund back. Every phone call we are at an impasse because I refuse to verify any information unless they send me verification.

Hi Jim, this is not necessarily true. In order for a bank to seek a judgment against a borrower, they must first go to court and provide proof of the borrowers inability to repay the debt. Due process must be completed for a court date to be awarded for the creditor. All parties are notified and of course most people will hire an attorney or attempt to represent themselves. Based on some of the comments, it takes more than 270 days for "Due Process" and a court judgment to be awarded. It seems this company functions as a debt collector on behalf of Woodforest and possibly a judgment recovery company. If a judgment has been entered, they normally will not call but send letters along with the court's decision and if possible (depending on your state) garnish your wages. Also most law suits are brought on as a result of a personal debt owed.

We just closed our account with Woodforest a month ago and some fee or something must have come through for this number to be calling me. However, if someone will actually speak when I say hello, I could probably find out if this call is actually for me or someone else.

I pay my bills thank you.  I had my identity stolen and the debt owed that they are trying to collect on is not one that I made.

If they want money, they should use kindness instead of calling me a liar and telling me to be an adult and pay my debt.

Then when I told them I would give the police report number etc. to prove that my identity was stolen, they laughed at me and hung up..only to call back 20 more times that day.

This is not debt collecting, this is harassment, and it's illegal.

I believe it's associated with skip tracing.  I personally do not owe any past due debt that has been forwarded to collections.  Unfortunately, my daughter is in this category.  MRS has called my home asking for my daughter who no longer resides with me.

I politely asked that my phone number be removed.  Courteously, I was told request would be honored and my number would be immediately removed from MRS's data base.  So we'll see.

Most Calls from collection agencies are robot calls, programed and they do not leave messages many times, The fact is I owed Woodforest Bank from a past closed account. and when I found out I owed it, because it came up on credit, I called was helped right away, and sent the amount to them. Today I called back, spoke to an agent ( who had an accent ) and she was helpful. She verified my payment was made in full showing a zero balance..NOW !! everyone knows that woodforest is a second chance bank for many who have screwed up their credit.. Everyone jumps at it because other institutions won't touch them, but then as always (which is why they have problems to begin with) They do not handle their money, they over draft.. they end up owing woodforest, and it all starts again, the calls, the letters, Hey I have an Idea !! Pay your damn bills.. and stop sinking the country into debt because these banks have to write you off.. You made the debt... so to later argue about paying it, makes you a thief.. What a bunch of patriots you are.... You want the conveinience of a debit card and account, but don't have the ability to maintain it. You live from paycheck to paycheck, and most have no savings, and are not concerned with building your credit at all, you just think since you screwed up your credit, it's a fast way to get a card, then do the same lame crap over and over. Funny how when siging the papers to open the account your all smiles, but soon the ugly head of the loser shows itself, and it becomes the companies fault.. you say anything to make it sound ok, to not pay what you owe... OMG what balls... PAY THE BILL !! and do without a few more trips out for the weekend, or shopping at walmart, eating out, or what ever it is that you do to keep you from paying what you owe. This free ride attitude , and lack of character that says it's ok to avoid bills is really sickening.... if you don't earn it , you shouldn't have it. If you can't afford it... do without it. And to those who say "My kids are not going to suffer" Oh yes they are... and you knew it back when you had them without any sense of what being mature and responsible was all about.. Now your just raising more kids to rip off the financial systems of this country when they get old enough to screw up their own credit.. and that's if you have not already used their names and Social to buy a car, or shop on the Home Shopping Network !! MORONS....... GOD BLESS THE USA... Yeah Right !!!!

Yes you are real, but you need to identify yourself in these times when they are scams going on daily . I did have to interup your rep and ask him to speak slower and identify his corporation and info before I would give him info or verify my info. I have nothing against anyone but if you have an accent you need to slow your speech so people can understand you and in my case, i had a medical mishap that has destroyed my income of 60,000. a year and is still fighting for my befits owed to me and always paid my debts till this happen. I am still paying you and others but you tatics are sometime harsh, you should know that talking to people with respect and some level of compassion will get you your money faster.

Sorry to disagree with you "Shadow" but they are allowed to call your place of employment. However, if you ask them not to do this anymore, they can't--for ten days. After that, a written confirmation must be provided and delivered within 7 days of the oral request. I'm reading this from an actual collection letter I received on March 15th.

I know this is a post from 2008; but to be clear, it is NOT illegal to try to collect a debt over 7 years old. There is no legal recourse for the collector though; it cannot go on your credit report and the collector cannot sue you; UNLESS you make even a .01 cent payment on it, then they can re-age the debt and inform the credit reporting agencies and take you to court to retrieve the money. Basically, if a collector calls on an old debt, never tell them you owe it and DO NOT offer to make payments against it.

This is a collection agency so if you put your information on application for anything and list your employment they will call your job and find your dept and find you. They are a true collections agency I stopped the guy in mid-sentece and ask him who he was and the company info before i continued to talk to him. It is a collection agency for some banks and several others companies and u can ask them to send you information in the mail.
Hope this helps they called me so i called the company they said they were calling from and all was verified, by this company and i setteled my debt with them with a traceable debit card to show that i had paid my bill in full.

Debt Collector
This collection company works with debt owed to Woodforest Bank.  Woodforest has recently began sending out refund checks to their clients that they charged outrageous banking fees.  In my situation, their fees created a situation where I over drafted.  Now they are trying to collect.  The rep on the phone tells me that Woodforest is willing to "forgive a larger portion of what they were owed" when in reality, by law they had to.  So these people are not being honest!  Again, I would have never over drafted had they not created the situation in the first place.  So both Woodforest and this collection company can go f*** themselfs.  I don't like people that are dishonest and this collection company falls in to this category.  They refused to even send me a statement unless I sent them a payment for the full amount of their "settlement" first.  Keep in mind, there was really never a settlement.

Got a call today from these people from Mirand Response Systems. They threaten legal action if you don't "pay now what you owe". They claim they are representing Woodforest Bank. I called my local branch and they said they don't do business with this company and that it is a scam.

Been reading replys and thinking about this.  The way these people work is they call over and over, do not leave a message and when you call back to find out who they are, they want your info and are as nasty as a snake.  I think they ARE from Jamaca, not Houston.  The reason they don't send a letter in the mail is because they are not from the United States.  Sounds like they don't know what they are doing either.  This has nothing to do with Siera Judgment Recovery, they do not call the people they are trying to collect money from.

These people keep calling me and hang up.  When I called the number back today to find out who they are they wanted my soc sec # and my address, when I would not give it he hung up, I called back and  this black woman  wanting the same thing when I would not give her my info she raised her voice and went on and on  bla bla bla  and I told her I don't know who they are and will not give them any information.  They call but I have never received anything in the mail from them.  I guess it's less expensive to call.  I will report them for this.  I don't care WHO I owe money to, they need to tell me or they will not get a penny from me, in fact, if I do owe money I will pay the person I owe it to.....not THEM.  They have my name and address and for all I know all they need is my soc sec #,  OH NO, I will not tell them anything.
